  • The Dead South is a folk-bluegrass ensemble from Canada. They are currently touring Germany promoting newest album - "Illusion & Doubt" - with almost every show sold out. One of the stops on tour was Nurnberg where i get the chance to talk with a vocalist and guitarist of the group, Nate Hilts.

Hey nate. The niche market is people are tired of no talent hacks that can't sing or play. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME. NEVER STOP!

They have been touring for several years i think. And now they have become an "overnight sensation" Love them. And forgive me for my pride- they are Canadian boys from Regina, Saskatchewan. 🎶 🎵

I think that people really appreciate the real music, the handcraft and the work it takes to create it. Made from real voices singing and instruments being actually played.
You and your music are authentic, not like that massproducts played on the radio.
I can't listen to that so called "hits" of pop-music anymore and i guess many people feel the same.
After all: it's absolute great music!

One thing u are missing is that, EXACTLY same sound/song can be created by using a computer and u d have no idea which song is actually played or not. Yes mainstream songs are mostly shit produced for commercial gain. To me what matters is the artistic creativity of the song, not whether the instrument is played or not.

@@TD-np6ze It's ALL MUSIC to me. Each band is really a Genre of it's own. (if original) Otherwise they're just 'copy-cat's and not worth bothering with. LOL

You guys are awesome, i hope great success keeps rolling in. Beautiful music, vocals are amazing, song writing is exceptional, i was tryng to listen to the songs you were covering, only to learn they are almost all original.
3 years ago had never heard of Dead South, now one of my favorite bands. It's refreshing to see real people with actual talent, instead of manufactured, disposable, souless, corporate, pre-sold out, formulaic shit "music" gain success.
    Out fucking standing gentlemen.

At a time of globalism, where even music is becoming so similar all over the world, I wonder if some people are beginning to enjoy bands that play music rooted in tradition. The Dead South combine styles to create something unique and I think that is the appeal

I totally am in love with their style and sound. I think they need to watch more wholesome movies and stop watching the news because if that's where they are get their song writing ideas, cause damn, the lyrics are pretty degenerate. LOL!
