There’s a deleted scene after Paulie loses his job which REALLY should have been kept in. It completely humanises Paulie and you see how much he regrets a lot of his life and how much he loved his sister and Rocky. It’s actually heartbreaking to watch him break down

Rocky has always been about the good-hearted common people just trying to make their way in the world. Rocky and Adrian were the quintessential underdogs who leaned on each other through whatever life threw at them. I know everyone talks about how Adrian supported Rocky, but it's also highlighted in the movies that Rocky helped break Adrian out of her shell and gave her the confidence to voice her opinion without fear. "How did you get so tough?", "I live with a fighter". Their love story is the backbone of the franchise and why it will remain loved forever, because everyone internally hopes to have that kind of love in their life.

Rocky's speech to his son wasn't just for him but Stallone himself was speaking to us all "it ain't how hard you hit but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward". That's gold right there....also this film was a little bit inspired by Gegore Foreman, when at age 45, he won the boxing world heavyweight championship, something no one thought that he would be able to do at his age....Like Little Marie said in the film "you'll prove the last thing that ages about a person is their heart". The character of Rocky is always such an inspiration & this film was such a fitting way to end the series (until the Creed films - which do act as a spin-off/side stories in the Rocky universe)...

Boxing changed from 15 rounds to 12 rounds back in 1982 (WBC), 1987 (WBA), and 1988 (IBF), heavily pushed after the death of a Korean boxer Kim Duk-koo. Studies on his brain during the autopsy and subsequent analysis concluded that his brain had become more susceptible to damage after the 12th round.
Exhibition matches choose how many rounds they want during the contract negotiations. and is primarily 3-8 rounds depending on the boxers/athletes but for some reason this movie chose 10. Sometimes in exhibition matches there is glove size changes to limit damage received (going from 12oz to 16 oz) as a larger glove weight has quite a bit more padding. Headgear can be used sometimes, as well as minimum amount of certified monitored training amounts (current minimum 12 weeks). Exhibition matches are usually a result of significant age differential, skill level, cross-over athletes from different sports, as well as charity events.

I love how much these characters mean to you in the short time you've known them. It is a testimony to the storytelling, the heart, and the amazing job each of the actors did in these films. There are few movies that have ever impacted people like Rocky did...and the fact that he could do it in 6 films without fail is amazing. I have watched the Rocky films my whole life. I grew up with them. I saw a few in the theater. And I am now nearing 50 and still cry when I watch these movies!

It always warms my heart when I see people end up loving this series. Especially if they aren't fans of sports or boxing (I'm not and I love them too). I love seeing how much these characters end up meaning to them and especially how many tears are shed along the way. :) I think a few reactors would probably end up listing Rocky and Adrian as their favourite movie couple.

Great reaction Addie! Adrian was the movie. From his daily cemetary visits, the restaurant name, talking about her to others, and her picture the night before the fight. The "beast inside" is what is usually called "the killer instinct". Rocky had a hard time accepting that he had the killer instinct passion to fight that he had in his youth - but he didn't have the physical tools to fight anymore. The exhibition fight drained the beast out of his system, the applause made him feel relevant and gave him closure with his boxing career. React to Stallone in "Nighthawks" (1981) - THEE MOST UNDERRATED COP MOVIE OF ALL TIME! Fighting international terrorism in America 20 years before 9-11-2001.

What I love most about this movie is that it brings the Rocky saga full circle. He started the first film as the underdog, going into a fight he didn't think he would win but only caring about still standing at the end of the fight. Then in subsequent films, he became heavyweight Champion and we saw him in his prime. But by this final film he is an older man, long retired from boxing - so again, he goes into the fight as the underdog and not really concerned with winning, but just about proving he can still do it. It finishes on the same note as the first film - he fought not for money or glory or a title, but to prove to himself that he has what it takes.

I find myself using several quotes on the rough days. “I’m a fighter” “Going in one more round when you don’t think you can, that makes all the difference in your life” “I didn’t hear not bell, one more round” “It ain’t about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward!” And of course “get up you son a b*tch, cause Mikey loves you”

Loved your reaction Addie. I had a hard time watching this movie as my father felt the same loss when my mother died. I know with today's societies view on men and women. My father loved my mother with all his heart and loved every part of her and wanted her to achieve all her dreams. On her death bed (due to cancer) she told my dad he was her angel. When my mom passed the look on my dad's face. A strong and compassionate man was broken. It really hit me how much he loved her, and I feel that the way Rocky talked about Adrian.

And I don't care how tough you are, it'll beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life! But it ain't about how hard you hit... it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward! How much you can take, and keep moving forward! That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth! But you gotta be willing to take the hits! And not pointing fingers saying, 'I'm not where I wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that!"
I know that speech like the back of my hand. The day I heard that speech, it stayed with me my entire life. To this day I think it's one of the best speeches in cinematic history.

    Hi Addie !
I grew up in the 80's and 90's, watching Rocky 3 and 4 multiple times (the first times being essentially because one of my brother was very much into martial arts and fighting movies). I actually only discovered #1 and #2 in the late 90's, early 2000's, as I entered adulthood. And it was a good thing cause I'm pretty sure the child or teenage me wouldn't have liked them. But , though I'm not considering myself as a fan, I grew attached to the characters.
So when it came out, this last "Rocky" movie was actually the first and only one I went see in theater. The little speech of the young commentator, about how he grew up watching Rocky's match on TV, and doesn't believe he can actually comment one of them, was actually kinda how I feel in the theater. It was kinda unbelievable for me that I could actually discover a Rocky movie, such a monument in the cinema history, in theater.

The reason that fight looks so different -- like a real boxing match -- is because that is exactly what it was. That was no movie set, it was an HBO fight broadcast. Those commentators were real commentators, the announcer was real, the crowd was real. In the breaks between the real fights, they would run out to the ring and film a few scenes, then pause while the next real fight was going on, then film some more on the next break.
