We’re Asian and we eat rice with almost everything. Yes of course you must rinse your rice very well. My grandparents ate rice every single day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day and lived until their 90s. But of course, they never ate processed foods. My grandmother went to the open market every Wednesday, and bought only meats, fish and fresh vegetables and fruits. That’s it. What’s funny, is that my grandpa smoked a pipe and my grandma smoked cigarettes ( with the butt inside her mouth) common in their province. But I believe because they never stressed about life and were always calm and joyful, they lived long lives. Could be too of genetics! Who knows, but God bless them … I loved living with them for three years and seeing a different approach to food and life!

What god are you wanting them to be blessed by,the god(s) of Asians as I know they believe Buddha is god or a god,or how about the god(s) of Egypt,Rome,Greece,Islam,e.t.c I exclude the God of Abraham Isaac and Yacob because he has proven himself the true creator who answered when the pagan gods did not. 💁🤔 if it's not Yahuah (YAH)then your plea falls on deaf ears for pagan gods have no power to grant anything. Not even those HUMAN religious men who fed on the idolatry of their own ethnic group. they are not even aware that people call on them for death has stolen that awareness away just as it has done to everyone who has died but has not resurrected themselves. YAH said he will not share honor and worship with other gods whom the people love.

The rise in cancer is commensurate with the rise in processed foods & availability of processed sugar. Even more? The rice in the southern US is grown in fields that use to be cotton fields. They used arsenic to kill the boll weevil bugs. Even though the field has been changed from cotton to rice, they are still contaminated. It is estimated that arsenic can have a residence time life of 9000 years in the soil. I’m on a gluten free intermittent detox, so I consume rice on daily basis. For someone like me, with heavy metal toxicity, this is what my holistic doctor told me to do. Any rice needs to be washed with bicarbonate till water is clear, parboil for 10 minutes max, drain the dirty water and replace with fresh new water. Wipe down the sides of the pot, you’ll notice a lot of the dirt tends to bind there.
Also I’d like to add that arsenics are sprayed on fruits and veggies, so soak in sodium bicarbonate for 10+ minutes. The bicarbonate molecules bind to metals.

For other people who would like to know, rice with the least arsenic is Basmati rice from the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains, and Jasmine rice from Thailand.
How to Prepare & Cook Rice to Remove Most Arsenic
*Rinse/wash rice repeatedly until the water is as clear as you can get it
*Soak your rice overnight - this opens up the grain and allows the arsenic to escape
*Drain the rice and rinse thoroughly with fresh water
*For every part rice add five parts water and cook until the rice is tender - do not allow it to boil dry.
*Drain the rice and rinse again with hot water to get rid of the last of the cooking water.

The traditional Indian way of cooking rice is to wash it well a few times and add it to water in the pan after the water comes to a boil. For one measure of rice boil 5-6 measures of water. And enough water as required to maintain that ratio as the rice gets cooked. When the rice has been cooked to your desired softness, turn off the stove and empty the contents into a big enough colander until the starchy water is fully drained. The transfer the rice back to the container.
This method not only removes arsenic and other contaminants to a high degree, but also removes the excess starch, making it ideal for diabetics, calorie watchers, those on a diet, etc.

I think rice taste best when you measure 1cup of rice to 2 cups water .bring to boil and put lid on.then have another burner ready to steam rice for about 20 minutes.
My mother in law taught me years ago.
      Turns out good eveytime.
I of course rinse the rice using my hands a number of times before i cook. No getting rid of starch.
However much rice you use just add double the water. 2 to 1 ratio.
And put lid on quick after comes to boil. Then steam on low to med.

To be clear rice from different regions will contain different levels of arsenic. Study shows that white basmati rice from California, Pakistan and India are lower arsenic region's for rice. Also ppl can pick quinoa, buckwheat, and millet is also know to be on the lower arsenic level. It's true Texas is the worst place to get rice from due to they have highest-rated arsenic levels. Most importantly due your OWN research as it is always easier to listen to someone given you the information it always better to follow up for your own knowledge.🙂

In Persian cooking, white rice is used , we wash 3 times and then soak with very salty water for a min one hour before boiling it (rice silos often attract rats and they leave their faeces behind). Once I became aware of recent studies and how to effectively remove the Arsenic, I first wash 3 times, then soak 3 times, each min 30 minutes then pour off the water and then finally soak with salt for one to two hours, then pour off the water and boil it. Baes on this study I found, this way, you remove up to 95% of the Arsenic. Given, you will not reach 100% Arsenic free rice, sticking to moderation in consuming rice and any other food items makes a lot of sense.

Continuing water shortages are going to make rice cultivation in California ever more problematic. Then, of course, there's the problem that California rice, while lower in arsenic, does still contain arsenic. To put the amount into perspective, according to a Consumer Reports article from 2014, California rice contains 38% less arsenic than rice from Texas, Arkansas, or Louisiana (the highest levels in the country). That implies, though, that California rice still contains 62% as much arsenic as the highest levels in the country.

Both my maternal and paternal grandparents were farmers and mainly grew rice. We had a special kind of rice for family members and the other kind to sell. Yes, we washed 3 times before we cooked and drain the rice juice, therefore, we never heard of diabetes in the past 20 years. The problem with rinsing is that many rices are enriched so the bags literally state don’t wash. That’s extremely problematic for low income families whose staple dish is rice.

Thankfully, I never ate that much rice, because it has a constipating affect on me. I have also begun to sub barle and whole oats for rice applications. I get way more fiber, both soluble and insoluble. The oats are very close to brown rice when done, and both are good for faux fried rice recipes.

Biryani can usually make me constipated maybe because of the basmati rice and also the lack of vegetables in Biryani since it’s usually chicken or mutton biryani that I eat. We are regular eaters of Kerala Kuthari rice (brown /red) and no problem at all with constipation.

@@brendasavini7098 Kerala Kuthari Matta Rice is a red rice.. it comes from the state of Kerala in India. If you have any friends from Kerala, ask them. Or check out a Kerala store (Malayalee store). This rice can’t be compared to the typical brown rice. Anyways, whatever rice it is, make sure you wash the rice x 3 before cooking. Then boil the rice with lots of water. Once cooked, drain the water out. This method gets rid of the starch, dirt, chemicals like arsenic, etc.
chickpeas curry, Sambar, etc are good for 🚽.
