Wondering it it would help to layout some pencil lines on the strings to aid in knot placement before one started. Or doing it on a flat surface with a wood/nail jig for diamond sizing.

I think you would be safe with double the length of a regular sidewall string.

Good idea. We tried it, and it works pretty well, but you have to "gut" the paracord or else it's too thick. To gut it, you just pull out all of the insides.
