The Porsche Speedster lineage is rich, running from 356 to the 911 via the G-series, 964, 997 and 991 generations. So how on earth am I walking around a factory-made 993 Speedster in my latest video?!
That's because Porsche's Exclusive department made a special 1 of 1 993 Speedster for Ferdinand Alexander 'Butzi' Porsche, creator of the 911, for the occasion of his 60th birthday in 1995. Butzi got to enjoy this unique Speedster for 17 years until his untimely passing in 2012, and the car has since sat in the vaults of the Porsche family collection, rarely seen in public… until now.
Take a look around this Aventurine green Speedster and see its unique spec - including a Tiptronic gearbox! - as part of my comprehensive history of the Porsche Speedster, with information on another 993 Speedster amde at the factory, albeit retrospectively, for Jerry Seinfeld…
What do you think? Does the Speedster profile suit the 993?

How gorgeous is that interior!? Love that brown leather!
Agreed Andy!
Incredible! This and the original footage of this car in the Alps both are deserving of far more views
Thank you kindly, Dirk!
I think that is the most beautiful Porsches I have ever seen. I love those black gauges. I think that is a much better looking dash layout than any of the modern ones.
How appropriate that the video length is 9:11! Stunning car and great wealth of info too!
Thanks, I try to make most of my videos that length so it's an easy watch. Thanks for viewing.
These videos are great! I wouldn’t mind if you did one for every significant production 911 really, when you run out of the exclusive ones.
Amazing!! Such a one of kind car with most gorgeous color combination ! Just brilliant
Glad you like it!
@@9WERKSTV glad you shared this with us!!🙌
Perfect 911. My goodness!
Very interesting and well put together. I hope Porsche give you similar access in the future to other rare and limited Porsches so you can make similar content. Thanks for taking the time to make and publish the video.
Very kind, thanks Amber.
By the way, there is a carrera spider (or a targa), oak green with a gt3 engine from factory around. It was for sale last year. That one will take a couple of decades until it's rediscovered again
Enjoyed that.
Wow never knew it existed! In my opinion think it looks even better than the 964 Speedster as it's lines flow better, particularly at the rear. Great video thanks!
My pleasure!
Missing the Manual Transmission! Perfect to be stored in a Museum!
Yes, i saw Seinfeld’s 993 Speedster when his Porsche collection was in a hangar at Santa Monica airport.
Just curious, was his blue or silver? I've been told both. Thanks.
love the color
Was the 356 windshield removable?? 🤔
Great video, as always!
Thank you!
Love the car (well, except for the Tiptronic and the interior colours that is 😉), love the video! 👍
... but a little remark from a German and a Porsche enthusiast, if it's okay: Hearing "Butzi" Porsche being called "Bootsy" all the time is almost hurting my ears 😉. Make that "u" in "Butzi" a short one, like in "put", and you're bang on!
Never knew that! Thanks for clarifying.
@@9WERKSTV My pleasure! Usually, it's us Germans, who need to learn how pronounce English words and names correctly, so it's good to be able to turn the tables for once. 😉😄
outstanding video. Why don't you do a video on the Porsche family tree?
That's a great idea!
In 2016 I saw a silver 993 Speedster on the German island of Sylt. Even got to talk to the owner and take photos and video of it. I’ll email you them Lee.
That'll be the Seinfeld car!
@@9WERKSTV did he sell it back to Germany? Sent you e-Mails with pics and video.
i wish we could see Jerry's car
The ‘Aventurine’ here looks different to the 992 ‘Aventurine’. And in a good way. The latter looks too close to ‘Agate’...but here it works a treat.
I'm personally not a fan of either, but agreed the 992 version is subtly different.
Totally gorgeous car, can't believe its only been copied once.
Agreed!
There's quite a few aftermarket speedsters about.
Yep, Ninemeister in the UK have made a few.
@@9WERKSTV yes. I was days from ordering one. Bought a 993 cab for the donor.

I just realised with only 2000km clocked, this trip alone might account for atleast 5% of the total running distance
Didn’t they make another one for Seinfeld?
Yes, albeit retrospectively, as documented in the video.
You obviously have not watched the video then. Pay attention and keep up!
It’s actually not certain that Seinfeld,s Speedster was build by Porsche itself. Rumors have it that it was build by Freisinger Germany and handed back to Porsche.😉
Looks very big on camera, don't really think its that big. Great Porsche 911 generation in my opinion.
Automatic because automatics win races.
Nooooo!!! Why a Tiptronic???? Wtf??? 😭😭😭
I’m not sure if it’s one of one:

New haircut?
Staying fresh!
Nearly as nice as my 993 Speedster
Just curious, did you turn a stock Speedster into a 993 (bodywork) or take a 993 cab and make that into the Speedster? The reason I ask, I used to have a '94 Speedster, sold it for a profit when I went back to University for a career change. Now the prices are well over 6 figures, so I am wanting to build (have a professional) my own. I have some of the hardest to find parts (Finally!!! after years of searching). But wanting to contact someone who has went through this process, always looking for some tips. Just thought I would ask, thank you. Brad
