Hard to believe this Brother duo were not country music superstars. They are awesome. How was "No Sir" not a #1 Billboard country hit. Darryl and Don Ellis' only Billboard country top 40, spending one week in the top 40, peaking at #40 on October 10, 1992 as their biggest country hit to date.
My cousin and his neighbor sang this song at their 3rd grade talent show in Columbus, Ohio in 1998. I will never forget the entire audience laughing loudly the entire time!
This should have been the Song of the Year. It has the best lyrics, best arrangement, best vocals and the Ellis Brothers are definitely better than not only Brooks and Dunn but 90% of the talent in Nashville. And they have more stage presence and class than 90% of the groups in country music. Okay, so the video is only fair but the Ellis Brothers are great. I wish they would get back together. Country music needs someone to rescue itself again the way Randy Travis did back in the 80s.

I remember Darryl & Don were nominated for Top New Vocal Duo of the Year (1991...I think) and Brooks & Dunn beat them out ... I was so bummed !

My husband, Ricky, was their guitar player for many years......through all these good years. They really are great singers. This is one of their best songs they ever did. I'm kind of partial to the guitar player, though. :-)

the guy i married was not a favorite of my dads, but he did talk to my dad about their differances, and when i heard this song it was the perfect song, to dedicate to my dad but my dad would not give me away to the man, refused, i don't blame him since our marriage only lasted 18 months. he is the father of my son and thats all he is to me! thanks for an awesome song.
I worked as a retail clerk at the Target store in New Albany, Indiana from 1992-95 and they played this video heavily for a few months around late 1992/early 1993 on the Target Video Network, which was played on the TVs in the electronics department and promoted the music and films for sale in the store. This is my first time seeing the video since then! These guys seem to be good singers and have the look. I guess they just got lost in the pack of young country artists who were breaking out at the time.
I remember this song plus "goodbye highway" when I was little, my aunt lisa's married to don so I saw him on xmas eve begging to tell whacky made up stories about the holiday lol didnt know then that his music made it big, Awesome voices that make u want to listen to more & the good thing is..u can! Lol

I only remember it cause I believe they were nominated for an ACM duo award in the 90's and they played a snippet of one of their songs as they were announcing the nominees for the award.
Was the original video different than this version? I thought in the original video the guy was trying to help the girl's father to make a good impression and kept making big messes and then in the end he was successfully able to help the girl's father in the end. Maybe I'm mistaken though.
If these guys would have chugged Whiskey everyday and raised hell, had run in with the law, messed their concerts up for getting too drunk before the show... They would have been bigger than Brooks and Dunn. Even singing dud ass songs like this.
