It was probably the right decision though. Now, instead of seeing the new suit for the first time folded in a box, we'll see it when Sam makes a dramatic entrance to save the day.
01:58 - "But then people forget that when Cap was talking to Iron Man, he said 'let's scrap'. He said 'let's go a few rounds.' He was trying to whoop his ass". You forgot they were being directly influenced by Loki's scepter which contained the Mind Stone. Said scepter that was right there besides them as ALL of them started arguing and eventually threatening each other. That wasn't natural Steve.
Steve also said "Put on your suit" to Tony, so they would be more less equal in strength. Even while being influenced by the scepter, Steve was still able to be fair.
Also from Steve’s POV, Bucky did technically die in “The First Avenger” when he fell from the train. I don’t recall Steve killing anyone out of rage after that happened, but few people are like him.
@Xbox One Tony was always an asshole, but the Mind Stone was turning it up to eleven for sure. Same with Steve, who wouldn't even consider calling him to a fight otherwise. Sam is just great in general.
Walkers rant at the Senators was the truth, even if at that moment he was trying to cover himself. The military basically programs these men to participate in tragedy, but as soon as they are filmed they are thrown to the wolves. I don't like him at all, but even I can see how the government is partially to blame.
Look at the way walker fights with the shield he uses it like a blade to cut. Which is the polar opposite of what a shield is meant to be used, he attacks rather than protects
Yeah, but the shield is also constantly used as a weapon to attack when it gets flung even by Steve Roger's himself. But Steve never used it to "cut", so you could argue that John Walkers fighting style is without conscience or remorse for his enemies. So He doesn't have good character like Steve or Sam.
Saving his comrades after going rogue is actually a dark parallel between Steve Rogers and Isaiah Bradley...Rogers got welcomed as a hero but Bradley got his ass put in jail....
This episode was so good. The social commentary, Sam and Bucky being bros, and John finally getting his ass beat 😂. The shield's finally back in good hands.
@@thetypingavocado574 Yeah, if Bucky was in Winter Soldier mode that fight would’ve been quick. I remembered how fast he took that shield off Steve when they went hand to hand and was yelling at Bucky to do that same move 😂
I just had an epiphany about Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson. Bare with me, i forget the doctors name but he wanted the super soldier serum to go to a good man, not a good soldier. That man was Steve Rodgers. I was one of the people who wondered about the reasoning of why Steve gave Sam the shield. Under the concept of "it takes one to know one", i believe i know the reason now. After his military service Sam became a counselor for other soldiers who was dealing with trauma and PTSD. He didnt just go "i did my service im done bye yall" he decided to help people who served but may have dealt with trauma during their military service. In addition to that in the winter soldier even Steve asked Sam "Are you sure you want to get back in" to which Dam replied. "Cap needs my help thats more than enough reason to get back in the game." I think Steve knew that Sam was willing to put his own peace and comfort aside and prioritize helping others. If anyone would know who gets the shield it would be Steve. Sam didnt see that at first but i think hes getting it now.
I think Isiah was talking about himself too when he said no self-respecting Black man would want to be Cap. I think way back when he thought he could be or could have been it, and that hurts too.
More like it was representing how Black Men have fought in every single war of the US proudly, yet never been treated with respect for that even...thus why would any self-respecting Black Man want to represent an America that doesn't try to represent for him.
Isiah was never asked to be Cap, he was tricked. Really, Steve Rogers was never asked to be Cap either. He was asked to be a Dancing Monkey. When he pulled off his rescue mission he had been made famous, like a movie star. People knew his face and name. Plus he had Stark and Peggy in his corner. Tommy Lee Jones never thought he was worth anything. Once he proved he was, the Gov wanted more weapons, not Caps. When we look at Walker kinda the same deal, like Isiah said. Great White Hope. They wanted a guy with medals and a sidekick that obeyed orders, they didn't want Cap. Sam had already gone on the run once and done his own thing. He was too independent for them, in addition to their ideal image.
@@markd5727 and what are those Americans doing to change that? How effective are those Americans being in that regard? We Black people can't just sit around twiddling our thumbs waiting for positive change to come for us, not while we are being murdered by civil servants with no justice to be found for us...meanwhile, constantly being promised how this time will be different, this time will be different...yet every time, elected officials offer nothing but lip service to garner our support but break every promise once they have gotten in. We Black people have routinely been a metaphorical Captain America for this country, it is long overdue that this country be Captain America for us...before we should proudly don the red, white, and blue again.
I love how they hinted at Walker being conflicted in the fight. Deep down he was good "why are you making me do this?" Because he knew it was wrong but he was just overwhelmed. And in the beginning they almost talked him out of it but then Sam said he needs the shield, its similar to when Walker almost got through to Sam but then he said the final line. I hope they show more of how conflicted Walker is inside.
No one was making him do shit. That's the whole point. We glorify soldiers and blame their generals, but ultimately when you pull that trigger, that was your choice, man. You put yourself in that situation. We don't have a draft any more - you signed up for this shit. And ultimately, if they have you doing heinous shit in Afghanistan that fucked you up, you're supposed to disobey bad orders. Don't give me that whiny "I was just doing what you wanted me to do" bullshit.

1:32 Cap was in that same situation. Someone did kill Bucky right in front of him (not really, but Steve thought he was dead), and that was Zola and his henchmen. Cap brought them in instead of killing them.
The point of Walker in this show is that not everybody can replace Steve. That even Walker who was a war hero couldn't handle the pressure. The people we see say they would've done things differently in Walker's shoe are clearly lying to themselves.
When Sam let's Torres keep the wings, it's actually foreshadowing the new Falcon...in the comics, Torres succeeds Sam as the Falcon... Also, Julia Dreyfuss 's character Contessa Valentina, is actually Madam Hydra from the comics, who's kinda like female bad Nick Fury...
Also apologies for the comment spam but the look on zemos face when Bucky had the gun isn’t fear. The dude was ready to die to see his family again. That’s all zemo wants next to ending all superheroes, to meet his family in the after lifr
the thing that people are missing is this. As Captain America, you are not supposed to handle things the way any normal person would. SO you can't be held to the same standards as everyone else. Him killing someone in cold blood instead of arresting him or simply incapacitating him, shows his lack of restraint. Which can't be the quality that someone holding that shield, should have
Everything you say is true, but here the thing. When Walker had his soliloquy of rage, and said "You built me," I think that went over a lot of people's heads. He was an Army Ranger, a Special Ops. Having been in the Spec Ops community myself (11th Psyop Battalion), we knew the Rangers to be the Kick In The Door type of unit. TAnd you heard him and Lemar talk about all the black and grey ops they did, all the lives they took on covert ops. Basically, what Walker did to that guy, he's done before in the Army...only difference is, the government has been able to cover up and disavow all those past deeds. Here, it was VERY public, they couldn't deny anything. So they cut their losses, put it all on him. It' no excuse for what he did, but this didn't start with him. They put the shield in the wrong guy's hands and asked him to be something other than what he was trained to be.
When Bucky doesn't kill an accepting Zemo and drops the bullets In front of him, that's actually him signifying that he's not the murderous Winter Soldier anymore. Also, Zemo going to the Raft may foreshadow his involvement with the Thunderbolts, as General Ross heads the Raft and he's its initiator.
isiah didn't have a bucky. that's why. steve was about to be court marshaled in that scene but then bucky did the smart thing and said, "three cheers for captain america." and suddenly steve had the whole battalion on his side.
@@idleeidolon Even before Bucky did his three cheers, Col Phillips dismissed Steve’s “I’d like to surrender myself for disciplinary action” with a sniff and “That won’t be necessary.” So there is a double standard. Steve also saved a mixed group of soldiers (white, black, Asian, American, British, French, etc.) which was good PR. Whereas Isaiah saved a group of black soldiers that the US Govt was trying to hide, had made mentally unstable with their experiments, and were basically hoping they could wash their hands of by bombing the POW camp.
The docks and sams house is beautiful and it was cute seeing Bucky smiling looking at the kids after waking up at sams, the fight between Bucky Sam and Us Agent was awesome, Sam and Bucky throwing the shield and the Sam training scene was awesome, the entire episode was amazing probably my personal favorite out of all of them

If they have a scene in the last episode where Sam shows up as Captain America, and they show Bradley watching him on tv and he sheds a tear....man....I'll be GONE
This episode was pretty fantastic, especially the opening. Walker was fighting his off against Bucky and Sam and I respect him for that, but he had that beating coming. Can't wait for that finale and to see that new Falcon suit, because you know its going to be all kinds of FIRE!!!!
I like to imagine Walker was hearing Lamarr's voice telling him to do the right thing during that brief moment he realizes he has to choose between avenging Lamarr or saving the people who let him down.
They be killing the thing where the fight happens in the beggining of the episode and then through the episode they be dealing with that instead of just building to a big fight at the end
At the beginning that fight was awesome. And to be honest I feel sorry for Walker, he wanted to be Captain America the best he can and he lost his close friend.

I liked Sam and Bucky just working together on the boat, too. Scenes like that are important. They show us that these are real people. They're not just soldiers and superheroes.
Steve was in a situation where he saw Bucky murdered in Captain America: The First Avenger. Steve did not snap. He did not rage kill. He finished the mission and brought Zola in alive. Just wanted to clarify
Sam's like mcu Barack Obama, he's about to make history with that shield. Bradley is the broken past, while Sam is the new beginning, they did the politics well honestly, didn't expect that from Disney. Bradleys worldview is also executed really well, he's an old man from another era and like Sam said, anyone go through what he went they would turn out the same.
Wakanda had better give Sam a whole vibranium suit so he won't get his bone popping like Walker in that 2 vs 1 scene and that man had serum in his blood stream.
Things I noticed in this episode. 1) The actor playing Isaiah Bradley is the voice of Martian Manhunter, Carl Lumbly. 2) Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character is a former lover of Wolverine. So there’s two Wolverine references in this show(the first being the quick shot of The Princess Bar in Madripoor, which was co-owned by Logan at one point).
The actor playing John Walker is Kurt Russell's son- so badass runs in the family. It's amazing that an episode with 90% talk over action can be so engrossing. Every conversation was so damn real- particularly John meeting with Lamar's family. The hurt there was so raw. Directing and acting are stellar on this entire series.
Some really good shots in last two episodes: -walker superhero landing with shield on top of the van -low angle slow moving shot of walker with bloodied shield -walker on his knees in this episode (idk but I think I have seen that shot maybe cover of some comic or something)
Sam's new suit will not be shown in a simple scene, we will probably see him when he comes to the action in some great hero entrance. And I bet this suit has the colors of Captain America.
Walker really has lost everything. I didn't see the government stripping it all from him like that. And if he keeps heading down this road, he won't have his wife much longer either. And when that happens he's going all the way to the Dark Side
@@clarradactyl7791 Completely agree that Lemar's sister wasn't feeling Walker. Probably disturbed by the video of Walker killing an unarmed man who repeatedly said he wasn't the one who killed Lemar right before being murdered.

Sam and Bucky .......yooo let’s play frisbee with the shield bro!!! (I know it’s training but still, they were just throwing that at each other lmao).
I LOVE that this show still makes you take John Walker’s side when it comes to him vs the US Govt.. Like, he will probably fight Sam next episode or down the line even, but he is definitely more like a Punisher than a villain. I felt his pain so much when he was in court. Great performance by Wyatt Russell 👏
Dude, in the helicarrier in Avengers 1, they were all being affected by the mind stone inside Loki's scepter that was increasing their aggressive nature. You're looking for reasons to defend Walker, but the parallel was right there in Civil War, when Cap had Iron Man in the same position that Walker had the Flag Smasher. In the heat of the moment, Tony trying to murder Bucky, Steve didn't kill him, and then let go of the shield because he knew he didn't deserve it anymore. Walker is just fucking crazy.
I loved me some Lamar. I was sad to see him go, he was a good character. The part with his parents and John was heartbreaking. My favorite part of the episode was Sam coming to the realization that he needs to be CAP and the awe-inspired looks on his nephew's faces. Inspiring young men for the good.
M-Dogg, you’re right, in fact that is the reason why I enjoy your videos, you and Soldier lay your opinion down in a way that is easy to relate to, and understand. And yes, in a situation where my best friend gets killed in front of me, could I keep from sending one of the people, who caused my friend to die, screaming into the next world?...probably, no, definitely not, and it would haunt me for the rest of my life. So, I would like to thank you two gentlemen for pointing out, the whole “He ain’t my Capt.” thing, because I said the same thing.
Notice that the man who chose Walker to be Captain America then took it away was also the man at the conference who said just just use armed force to round up and drive out the refugees.

Even while being influenced by the scepter, Steve was still able to be fair.
yep
Also from Steve’s POV, Bucky did technically die in “The First Avenger” when he fell from the train.
I don’t recall Steve killing anyone out of rage after that happened, but few people are like him.
@@thestarkster9940 That right there is my favorite thing about that scene.
@Xbox One Tony was always an asshole, but the Mind Stone was turning it up to eleven for sure. Same with Steve, who wouldn't even consider calling him to a fight otherwise.
Sam is just great in general.
It's nice to see people actually understanding Walker's position instead of blindly hating.
And recognizing that sympathy doesn't necessarily equal endorsement.
He was acting his ass off, too.
I understand him but I still don't like him, but that is the point of his character
Ok. Great observation.
exactly! good call out 🙌🏽
Yeah, but the shield is also constantly used as a weapon to attack when it gets flung even by Steve Roger's himself. But Steve never used it to "cut", so you could argue that John Walkers fighting style is without conscience or remorse for his enemies. So He doesn't have good character like Steve or Sam.
@@Eserr7856 this too
Yea, exactly. It reflects how Walker’s interpretation of Cap is as an offensive rather than defensive weapon for the country and the world

We all reverted back to our 9 year old self throwing a tantrum when the episode ended without showing us what's in the suit case
Great point about how the episode was about consequences, and the aftermath of the last episode.

The scene when Sam and Bucky were trying to take away the shield (IMO) mirrors when they were trying to get the gauntlet from Thanos.

So let me get this right. It’s episode 5 and you’re JUST realizing this? 😅
@@Mr10before9
Get your point but there’s a whole lot of Americans that dont agree with how the gov is ran & controlled
@@Mr10before9 man could you be a bigger snowflake?
I love how they hinted at Walker being conflicted in the fight. Deep down he was good "why are you making me do this?" Because he knew it was wrong but he was just overwhelmed. And in the beginning they almost talked him out of it but then Sam said he needs the shield, its similar to when Walker almost got through to Sam but then he said the final line. I hope they show more of how conflicted Walker is inside.
Exactly! Walker is so overwhelmed by everything. And he was really trying to be a hero at the start. I feel terrible for him.
No one was making him do shit. That's the whole point. We glorify soldiers and blame their generals, but ultimately when you pull that trigger, that was your choice, man. You put yourself in that situation. We don't have a draft any more - you signed up for this shit.

the thing that people are missing is this. As Captain America, you are not supposed to handle things the way any normal person would. SO you can't be held to the same standards as everyone else. Him killing someone in cold blood instead of arresting him or simply incapacitating him, shows his lack of restraint. Which can't be the quality that someone holding that shield, should have
Restraint is weakness
@G that is straight-up supervillain talk dude.
Walker continued to blame everyone but himself in this episode. Sam told Bucky to "do the work" but Walker isn't willing to do that.
There's also the simple fact that he committed a war crime and should have been put in prison
I expect John to be sent to the Raft next episode and him arriving and meeting Ross being the end credits scene.

Whereas Isaiah saved a group of black soldiers that the US Govt was trying to hide, had made mentally unstable with their experiments, and were basically hoping they could wash their hands of by bombing the POW camp.

I liked Sam and Bucky just working together on the boat, too. Scenes like that are important. They show us that these are real people. They're not just soldiers and superheroes.
You guys realized how Sam ran on the right side and let his left side open during the working out montage?
Steve was in a situation where he saw Bucky murdered in Captain America: The First Avenger. Steve did not snap. He did not rage kill. He finished the mission and brought Zola in alive.
Just wanted to clarify
Sam's like mcu Barack Obama, he's about to make history with that shield. Bradley is the broken past, while Sam is the new beginning, they did the politics well honestly, didn't expect that from Disney. Bradleys worldview is also executed really well, he's an old man from another era and like Sam said, anyone go through what he went they would turn out the same.
🙄
Some really good shots in last two episodes:
-walker superhero landing with shield on top of the van
-low angle slow moving shot of walker with bloodied shield
-walker on his knees in this episode (idk but I think I have seen that shot maybe cover of some comic or something)
Drew: a crackhead throw that shit back, i died LMFAO😂
Sam's new suit will not be shown in a simple scene, we will probably see him when he comes to the action in some great hero entrance. And I bet this suit has the colors of Captain America.
It does, the suit is a lot more white than Steve's version but it still looks great.
Walker really has lost everything. I didn't see the government stripping it all from him like that. And if he keeps heading down this road, he won't have his wife much longer either. And when that happens he's going all the way to the Dark Side
