I haven't watched c1, and have only heard that people used to dislike marisha/keyleth. And i don't see it. She's perfectly RP'ing an awkward young woman, who kinda likes being hit on by trees. Most other clips I've seen reinforce that too
Thats because people couldnt see between keyleth and marisha, so when keyleth did something stupid which was 100% in character they thought it was marisha being stupid and threw shade on her. Honestly the worst thing about C1 is how people treated marisha/keyleth, at some points it down right disgusting, whenever i rewatch C1 i never look at chat.
I like Marisha, I will call myself neutral on her character Keyleth. She tries to be a leader and a moral guide, but she's a bit too rigid in her thinking, inconsistent in her thinking, and there is a lot of cringe when she's trying to morally guide the party. Sometimes she is right, but I'd think she was off base more than not, for example turning down allies when the Chroma Conclave arc happened, and some dubious moral lectures early on which she didn't abide by herself. And I can't say I ever saw her really step up as a competent leader, even though her arc was supposed to end up going from someone not suited to leadership to someone who is. And all of that is fine, that's a character, and there's nothing wrong with playing a character. She absolutely nails the character if that is what she was going for. That said, I just find that outside of Keyleth's value to the party as a combatant and druidic magic user, she grates on my nerves a bit. But whenever she isn't in character as Keyleth I have zero problem with her. She's great. And I can separate actor from character.

Those "people" come from the over lap of "you can win d&d" and misogamy. Keyleth was an exploration of strength though vulnerability, honesty, and common good values. All those thing are very threatening to some.
