@@SunGodNika-bi2jrthe fact he was chosen to be a boss of the darkest world was just perfect. Who ever thought of that idea needs a raise. Cause I didn’t see this coming hell it wasn’t even a thought in my mind st all
When I was a kid, Chernabog would always appear in my worst nightmares. While I loved Fantasia growing up, I would always fast forward the night on bald mountain segment of the film and go right into Ava Maria cause it scared me so much. The reaction I had when Chernabog appeared, I made the biggest nope of my life. It took me a lot of tries to beat him. When I finally did, I stopped having him in my nightmares for many years and was able to enjoy night on bald mountain without any fear. In a way it was like I was battling my darkest childhood fears.
For me it was always the deep abyss of the Ocean in Nemo. Like when he went up and didn’t see anything for miles or when he looked out over the drop off and saw the barracuda come out of no where. I still have nightmares about an abyss in some form.
Awesome story! You were facing and defeating not Chernabog, but your own fear! That, in a way, is why I'm a horror fan: it involves facing your fears, and my favorites of it show that true evil exists, but also show that it can be defeated.
Just got to this part. I heard the music play and I was like, "Wait...this music. I know this song." I see the giant "mountain" and thought, "Oh shit. No fucking way. They put HIM in this game? They put the devil in this game?" Wasn't disappointed.
Technically not really the devil, lol. Chernabog is the name of a Slavic deity, which as far as we know was meant to be some sort of dark god. Don’t know if they equated him as their version of the Devil, though.
The first time I saw chernabog was when I watched the movie Fantasia when I was five. Omfg no one in my family expected that scene from such a beautiful movie. I was scared and my mom actually shielded my eyes cause of how horrified I was. When I encountered him on the heartless world I was ready to pay him back for traumatizing me.
That's quite an experience you shared. I sat through Fantasia when I was maybe about ten years old. Holy crow, I got spooked by this guy. I had to play Kingdom Hearts just to learn the me of the demon. I'm glad you found your closure in punching him square in the face.
That was basically me too. When I was little, whenever I'd watch "Fantasia", I'd stop the VHS right after "Dance of the Hours". "Bald Mountain" terrified me that much. I didn't have to guts to watch "Bald Mountain" until I was about 10. And kicking his butt in KH1 is so satisfying.
Even now as an adult with 3 children, Chernabog and the Night on Bald Mountain music stills gives me chills of fear. I’ve beaten this guy so many times since first getting the game. But he will always be intimidating
The music is very intense as in the movie. But they need to bring him back as a very hard boss in the last game and really capture the power we see in the movie. His fire, demonic creatures attacking from all sides!
I remember watching Fantasia as a kid, seeing Chernabog there was the pure essence of fear for me. The devil, Evil Incarnate himself. Many years later I come across him, music starts playing and he reveals himself. I could not remember where I saw him before, but I was struck by the same fear that I had as a child. Only then did I remember what he was.
When I was younger and I played the original kingdom Hearts, This boss fight scared the ever living crap out of me. In fact, it scared me so much that I had my sister beat the boss for me.😂😂😂 Then I came back to it as a teenager(via 14 years old), It took me like 2-3 minutes to beat him LOL.
I really love how this fight is totally unrelated to any moment in the Kingdom Hearts lore so far. The only moment we actually see Fantasia is on Dream Drop Distance, years later to this fight :)
When I first played Kingdom Hearts, I remember being so excited to fight any Disney villain or character because I remembered them from their movies. But once I heard "Night on Bald Mountain" saw Chernabog and had memories of how much that section of Fantasia scared me as a little kid, all that excitement left me and I just thought, "Oh hell no...."
You know, we never did get an explanation as to why Chernabog was in the Heartless homeworld to begin with. Was he sealed there or was he just dragged along with his homeworld? The only reason I think he still has his normal body could be that he is one of the original 13 darknesses.
I think it says in his description in game he was dragged there after his home world was destroyed but I really do think he could be one of the 13 darkness's I mean he is Disney's Satan essentially.
He was supposed to be the final boss until they expanded the story (i.e. added Ansem) So they left him in there as a surprise fight because he was too cool

im 21 and im just playing kingdom hearts for the first time ever (technically not my first time since ive had some KH games before but i was too little to beat them) and i just finished beating Chernabog and the Linked Worlds battle. Chernabog was so hard i actually had to change my entire strategy and be more defensive 😂 its the second boss that took me more than 1 try to beat in this game! The lost worlds battle is the one that almost made me rage quit. but since there was no safe points i didnt wanna turn off the game and have to deal with chernabog AGAIN tomorrow. needless to say never trying these fights again haha
There’s a safe spot that makes this fight 1000x easier. I forget which attack, but if you hide at where his legs go into the volcano it can’t touch you.
As soon as I started hearing the night on bald mountain music I was surprised. Out of all the Disney villains I didn't expect to appear in this game Chernabog takes the number 1 spot.
You can summon tinker bell during this fight. You just have to land on his shoulder when he calm for a few seconds and perform the summoning. She stays around for the rest of the fight after that. She makes this fight so much easier.
Definitely a big surprise in this game when I first played it all those years ago. I wasn't a fan of the flying mechanic in Peter Pan level, so I was initially annoyed by the concept of this fight... until I realized we were fighting Chernabog with an amazing rendition of his theme. He hits like a truck and it was honestly such a difficulty spike for me that I had to come back after an hour or two of grinding for gear and xp. Such a nostalgic boss that nobody was expecting.
I just realised how weird it is to see that Chernabog has legs in this game. XD I always assumed he was just a part of the mountain from the waist down in the original film.
I never played the original until 1.5 Remix, somehow I avoided seeing his inclusion and this got me so hyped when I first heard his theme playing. I had no idea he was added and made me really appreciate the first game for how much Disney reps there are.
I still remember getting here the first time, the music confused me as I recognized it, which made me think it was final fantasy music. Then it stuck me, "wait... this is classical music? OH GOD THIS IS CLASSICAL MUSIC!?" and then the mountain stood up.
Me the first time encountering that boss : *Staring horryfied for a few secs, proceed to pause/put controller down and nope out of the room*. Half an hour passes. I reluctantly come back. *Deep breath*, "you can do this" I say to myself. Unpause, music starts, my brain screams at me to stop playing. Start freaking out. Without thinking I launch Sora and co. into action trying to occupy a part of my brain enough so it overpowers the one that was having a mental breakdown. I was TERRYFIED of Chernabog as a child (but I was also somehow intrigued and couldn't look away), I was super creeped out as a teenager and even now, the music STILL gives me the chills. Thanks for the nightmares old school Disney !

*firey naked demon girls and harpies cheer for Chernabogg, but then cried and whimpered when he lost*
The fact that he lost is honestly still stupid also I refuse to believe he works under anyone except himself he is the DISNEY DEVIL he is literally pure evil and darkness manifested dude should have been only put to sleep when you hear a church bell and god tells him to with light and said church bells along with foggy people in the distance singing ava maria
My best friend struggled a lot to beat Chernabog, yet he managed to beat Maleficent and Riku on his first try.
ffajx Funny, it was the exact opposite for me.
exactly me right now lmao
It is happening to me right now.
Exact same as your friend
That's like comparing apples to watermelons
Besides Sephiroth, Chernabog was one of my favorite enemies to battle. Seeing this brings me nostalgia.
Always loved this fight as a kid never knew who he was or anything just that he was part of Disney because as a kid we went a few times to Disneyland and the paintings of him were the coolest
Love that he's here for no reason.
im 21 and im just playing kingdom hearts for the first time ever (technically not my first time since ive had some KH games before but i was too little to beat them) and i just finished beating Chernabog and the Linked Worlds battle.
The music tone is a jewell.
Chort Dalmatian: “Go Dad DESTROY THEM!!!”
There’s a safe spot that makes this fight 1000x easier. I forget which attack, but if you hide at where his legs go into the volcano it can’t touch you.
This guy gave me nightmares whenever I saw as a kid back in Fantasia and this game....😰
That's what i did when I fought maleficent in her dragon form
Definitely a big surprise in this game when I first played it all those years ago. I wasn't a fan of the flying mechanic in Peter Pan level, so I was initially annoyed by the concept of this fight... until I realized we were fighting Chernabog with an amazing rendition of his theme. He hits like a truck and it was honestly such a difficulty spike for me that I had to come back after an hour or two of grinding for gear and xp. Such a nostalgic boss that nobody was expecting.
I used to think this game was very hard as a kid. but after playing the dark souls and demon's souls series, I think I could ace this game no problem.
Nicolas N to me ds is easier than this on critical while this fight is easy there are some parts that completely kick my ass
tydagreat 1 Siphereoth? If I spelled that correctly
These game's arent even close to Dark Souls, they are both RPGS but gameplay is way different
Spiffy We understand but just overall opinionated we think this game was harder to progress.
I think I died more in this game alone than in all the souls games combined 😂
How many times is Donald gonna keep fucking dying in this battle!?!? LMAO
Anyone else sorta feel like instead of Ansem turning into a boat they could have just somehow implimented the Chernabog into his final fight somehow?
I think this is one of my favorite boss battle in game
This boss fight is impossible. I am EXTREMELY under leveled. And his fire attack kills me in one hit if I forget to recast my Aero.
The boss no one expected
I just realised how weird it is to see that Chernabog has legs in this game. XD I always assumed he was just a part of the mountain from the waist down in the original film.
0:15 (dramatic classical music playing)
*Plot Twist:* Chernabog didn’t get beaten, he just remembered he had an appointment to get to. So he had to dip
It's like playing a painting. The Mona Lisa in the form of a video game. That's exactly why I love the old Kingdom Hearts games.
this brings back memories
I was caught way off guard by him the first time I played. I just remember thinking "Wait, THIS bastard is in the game?"
The first time I see this guy I think he was a heartless😂
He problably is, no one knows.
Glad you made this a boss fight.
I never played the original until 1.5 Remix, somehow I avoided seeing his inclusion and this got me so hyped when I first heard his theme playing. I had no idea he was added and made me really appreciate the first game for how much Disney reps there are.
The only Disney game where you kill the Devil.
I still remember getting here the first time, the music confused me as I recognized it, which made me think it was final fantasy music. Then it stuck me, "wait... this is classical music? OH GOD THIS IS CLASSICAL MUSIC!?" and then the mountain stood up.
This has got to be an easier difficulty. That fire AOE he does one shots me. Instant death.
2:52
Sora: "Donald!"
Donald: "I love you!"
Me: hold up this isn't kingdom hearts mu-
Boss appears
Me: W...what!?
This game has to be the hardest, in video game history
After this guy, it gets harder!
lol the whole time Chernabog looks like he's not caring
