Have been playing these clubs for 23 years now. Love them. I bought them so I never have to "upgrade" again. This has worked out. Incidentally, that is sustainability in practice. Made to last.

Yes! I agree with sustainability and they are pretty cool.

In high school heading into college I wanted the Hawkeyes more than my next breath. To me they just looked the business. I still think they look great honestly.

Made me feel not so bad that I’m using a 20 year old set of clubs. Always loved them, been trying to find other people using them online, but you’re the only one I’ve found

Also the fact I got them for free 🤣😅

I’ve tried so many irons trying to replace my Ping Zing 2’s. Just can’t find anything that works as well for me. If you have irons you like from 30 years ago, you might not find anything new that is better for you and your swing.

I bought these clubs new in 2000. I’ve got the 2-PW. I tried to replace them with the Titleist AP1’s and then again with the Callaway x22’s. But neither set were as easy and forgiving to hit. So I’ll continue to game the Hawkeyes until I find a suitable iron to de-throne it… and at today’s prices , I’m in no rush!

I own 2 sets of the HE's. One set is the very rare stock red line's at 2 deg flat and when I can't hit the ball well with my Sirixon's or Staff Madrella's and get in a rut playing put these back in the bag and feel good about my game again. thanks

I learned to play with Wilson Staff FJ17 blades and most recently played Mizuno MP-32. I’m now playing my dad’s old Hawkeyes. I’m 62 and my swing has slowed and my contact isn’t what it was. These clubs are so forgiving. They are like woods, all the way down. And the 3 iron? Still in the bag. Amazing clubs. In 1999 if memory serves, dad asked me to try his 3 iron after I was short with my 2 iron. Got there and was high enough to stick. 220 yards. Amazing! And that was when clubs lofts made sense. Today’s sets come with 5 through A wedge because the 5 irons loft is the same as a 1990’s club. A pitching wedge should be 48-52 degrees and a 3 iron should be 24. 19degrees was a one iron. Now 19 degrees is a three iron. You hit your 7 iron so far because it’s 5 iron with a 7 on it. Vintage is the way to go! And if you’re able to play blades, lots of great deals on clubs with little play because ego don’t get done.

Just found a 4,8,9,P, and L today at a flea market. Apart from the grips being dry rotted they where in fantastic shape. Figured it wad worth a try at 4 bucks a piece 😂. If I like em I'll re-grip em and try to find the rest to complete them. Already have a Hawkeye driver so figured why not. Nice job on the video by the way, always enjoy your take on the classics

Always wanted a set of Hawkeyes growing up but we were too poor. Bought a used set about a year ago and take them out to smash balls here and there and love them.

Mr. Vintage- It is impressive that you hired a classical guitarist to accompany you as you hit these irons! The Hawkeye irons must rank as being diametrically opposite to blades, which a person may like or not.

Great video man I really like the comparison you made to high-end bags lol

I remember the woods more than the irons being a hit so to speak, never owned either. Successful golf club manufacturers had to define themselves, in whatever way, and this Hawkeye iron has Callaway written all over it in big bold letters. Undercut cavity, thick top line, big,,,,,quite a bit different product now compared to that era, what with all the forged irons including straight up muscle back blades...

Great video! I am looking at buying second hand clubs and run into these ones and this helped. I also run into a king cobra 2 oversized senior set but there’s so little info out there about them. Have you ever used them? Thanks!
