*TRIVIA:* In case anyone's wondering, the reason the Godzilla suit looks so dilapidated, the eyes glazed and the face kinda tore up is due to the fact the Godzilla suit spent a fair amount of time in the water (when fighting Ebirah) and this served to stretch the suit out, hence the bagginess of the suit, towards the end. And during the scene where Godzilla fights the Red Bamboo's air squadron, (not shown in this review) the Godzilla suit took several explosions to the face, causing a fair amount of damage to the suit's face, that the special effects crew didn't have time to repair properly. As a result, the Godzilla suit's eyes have that glazed over look, from being burned by the explosions and his face still shows signs of damage including some melting of the rubber. By this point in the film, the Godzilla suit is a baggy, saggy, burnt mess. :-/ However, this same suit (originally used in *Monster Zero)* went on to be in a few scenes in *Son of Godzilla,* *Destroy All Monsters* and in *Godzilla vs. Hedorah.* (It's clearly this same suit, during the scene where Hedorah takes a "shit" on Godzilla after he drops Godzilla in the pit.
Thanks, fascinating stuff! Sounds like really bad producing, though; nobody thought to consider the shooting order? Nobody thought explosions and water might damage a foam-rubber suit (or whatever it was. Not something that'll stand up to explosions and water, at any rate)? It's a little shocking, honestly; this was hardly the first kaiju movie at this point. People had solved these problems.
@@michaelccozens The early Godzilla movies were not high-budget productions; they didn’t have the money for extra suits, so they just used each one into the ground, often for several movies in a row, and got a new one when the damage could no longer be covered up.

Thanks for the vide Brandon I've been sick for the past week and watching you has really been the only thing that has made me feel better so thank you very much. 😘
This is one of my favs because it is more than just two monsters fighting. I like the cast, and the story of the four dudes on the boat getting ship wrecked. Also, I am like the only person I know who recognizes that the boat sinking at the beginning of the film is the same boat that the three boys steal later on and that the film makers just reused the monster attacking the boat shots in both.
I read a fanfic once where Godzilla battles Zigra, and when they make landfall on the island from this movie before the Red Bamboo show up, they battle another Barugon. Barugon ends up paralyzed by Zigra's Ray and eventually dragged into a freshwater lake and killed by the natives. Godzilla gets hit by the ray too, but fights off the effects long enough to seriously injure Zigra, enough that it has to retreat to its ship, setting up its future encounter with Gamera. Godzilla finds a cave entrance, goes in, and succumbs to Zigra's paralyzing ray, setting up his appearance in this movie. It's actually quite well written.
This will always be a nostalgic favorite as it was one that multiple friends of mine had on VHS. Luckily those had the alternate dub, which featured far less annoying voices, as seen on MST3K
That snarfy voice sounds like the weird patron in the diner in that Twilight Zone episode where the bus breaks down and they're trying to figure out who's an alien.
This was one of my childhood favs in terms of Godzilla...i used to have it on vhs when Godzilla came on monster vision and monster block back in the 90s
Didn't forget, they call her one eye. A European action rape revenge movie from the early 1970's. She got her eye cut out of punishment. Later came back with a shot gun in a great use of pure fury gun fire! My great information for today. Have a great fabulous wonderful day.
I do think that this is when the series takes a slight dip in quality, but it's not bad. It really should have been Mothra vs. The Sea Monster, though. It's her people who have been captured. She should be the one doing all the monster battles! On a side note, the Japanese title is Godzilla, Ebirah, Mothra: Big Duel on the South Seas. That's the moniker that fits the film's content the best.
M.A. Moreno apparently Kong was supposed to be in this film but was replaced with Godzilla, that’s why some of his actions are contrary to previous films: getting awakened by lightening and finding a human female attractive, it’s also why Godzilla fights Mothra in the script even though they should be allies in this point in the series, Kong was supposed to fight Mothra
He didn't so much find her attractive as sit watching her for a while, which could be curiosity as much as anything. It was more of a King Kong thing to do, anyway.
I like this movie. It's not great, but it's got the beautiful Kumi Mizuno, so it can't be too bad. Of course, you need to see the original Japanese version. The voices aren't annoying like this. The title card for this video is the best - G & Mothra having a quiet dinner at Red Lobster.
12:06 Well actually, they wouldn't be "remaking" because Star Trek only came out about 3 months prior to this movie. The first episode of Star Trek first aired on September 8th, 1966; while Godzilla Vs. The Sea Monster was first released on December 17th, 1966. So, there's no way that they could be remaking Star Trek if Star Trek was still airing episodes at this time.
Pretty good episode. I do have one disappointment however. You mentioned several characters played by actors who previously appeared, but you left out that fact that eyepatch guy was played by the same actor as Doctor Serizawa from the original (Both rock the patch. Is the actor actually missing his eye?)
Aaron Coggins Dr. Serizawa had it on his right eye, the RB leader had it on the right. Also, the actor starred in other Showa films before and after this one without a patch.
Only thing i can think of on why godzilla attacked mothra despite being allies (besides the obvious that he's in kong's spot) is godzilla probably mistook her for the previous mothra since he helped her as a larva. Would explain why she just bonked him in the head instead of spraying poison powder on him.
I got the latter half of the second false dubbing of the screechy nerd! Also, 16:31, someone PLEASE make a T-Shirt of that saying. Probably with a cooler photo, like the Kiss of Death from the 2014 film.

"Anyone who wears an eyepatch is guaranteed to be evil." ... Except Doctor Serizawa. For shame, and in a Godzilla movie review, no less! :P

Instant like for that captain planet bit alone!🤣
One of the best presents I ever got was a triple feature Godzilla VHS. This film is the one I watched the most. Loved it so much.
Forget Bambi. Tells us more about the dancers. (02:44)
What about Dr. Serizawa on the eyepatch thing?
Do another Godzilla Movie!
That snarfy voice sounds like the weird patron in the diner in that Twilight Zone episode where the bus breaks down and they're trying to figure out who's an alien.
Oh i never knew Mothra likes seafood aswell as Ģodzilla well i guess Ebira is unlucky cause he is in the Menu ITS A FREAKIN LOBSTER
I love your sharp and sarcastic sense of humor! You earned yourself a subscriber! 😅😂
You just earned yourself a like and subscribe for using the Pharaoh Monch song 👌 Awesome videos man.

1:21 Give yourself some credit Brandon. Your “Godzilla 1985” video was hilarious.
Yo Brandon I totally want that title card you have on the video that is awesome! Would be a bad ass poster! Good job on the video
7:46 AND the dude from the first godzilla movie
9:04 well it WAS planned to be a king kong movie, but TOHO lost the rights after king kong escapes
King Kong reported to work skunk drunk in Berry Juice and got hit with the pink slip. 😝😝😝😝😝😝
congrats for this movie review for reaching over 1 million views!
I like the original dub of this movie better. this is the
re-dub of the dub
Dunce ption
Wait what???

“Gee, maybe letting these complete strangers who were literally trying to steal my boat stay the night was a bad idea”
I like this movie. It's not great, but it's got the beautiful Kumi Mizuno, so it can't be too bad. Of course, you need to see the original Japanese version. The voices aren't annoying like this. The title card for this video is the best - G & Mothra having a quiet dinner at Red Lobster.
The use of "Simon Says" was awesome. Well done, sir.
Would like to see Brandon review Space Amoeba, Half Human, Varan the Unbelievable, and Prophecies of Nostradamus.
Pretty good episode. I do have one disappointment however.
You mentioned several characters played by actors who previously appeared, but you left out that fact that eyepatch guy was played by the same actor as Doctor Serizawa from the original (Both rock the patch. Is the actor actually missing his eye?)
Aaron Coggins
Dr. Serizawa had it on his right eye, the RB leader had it on the right. Also, the actor starred in other Showa films before and after this one without a patch.
It would have been better had they gotten King Kong in this film like they were SUPPOSED too.
Dark Cloud Ent no it wouldn't. it would literally be the worst movie ever
BRANDON! The Baby is yours
XD WTF
Only thing i can think of on why godzilla attacked mothra despite being allies (besides the obvious that he's in kong's spot) is godzilla probably mistook her for the previous mothra since he helped her as a larva. Would explain why she just bonked him in the head instead of spraying poison powder on him.
This is good im sad you didnt get the better dubbed version
Could have started with the second film, "Godzilla's Counterattack" aka "Godzilla Raids Again" aka "Gigantis: The Fire Monster".

I love watching Kumi Mizuno run around on a tropical island.
I got the latter half of the second false dubbing of the screechy nerd! Also, 16:31, someone PLEASE make a T-Shirt of that saying. Probably with a cooler photo, like the Kiss of Death from the 2014 film.
