I got angry and took it out momentarily on the keyboard. I apparently accidentally typed "ccfx" in the little section to the bottom left of the screen where you type to search for something. This was suggested as a youtube video. I clicked on it and it's a strange, unexpected surprise. Her voice is the last thing I expected to be honest, but the song is kind of good. What a weird coincidence.

My thoughts exactly. But the guitars were off, sounded more like contemporary style playing and effects. But certainly has that early Cure vibe. Heard this today on KEXP.
Ehhh, for one it's in a major key, and no early cure stuff had break beat drums, so. The glaring similarity is a chorus pedal and that's about it.
Love this song. It looks like a cross between Mac DeMarco and Patti Smith.

One thing that’s interesting about this tune is that, in the second line of the verse, the singer hits a B then a G# both in her chest voice but then ends the line with a quieter A (which is lower than that B) in her head voice. Can’t say I’ve heard a lot of people do that; it gives an interesting and even expressionist effect. Skillful performance. The drum break on this song is of course the classic “Impeach the President” break sampled from the Honey Drippers.

I’ll never forget those California days living a completely different life as a lonely artist. Songs like this made me feel as though I was chosen to experience a secret golden age of a time period in a given space.
