Man! the same think happened to me! hahaaha.. I discovered a few days ago on spotify and i love this sound! Seeing them live for first time here on this video :)
Same here, but 80s...saw her front a band called "Pinocchio" last year in London, England. There are a lot of different band names that she is associated with. Look for "Mary Jane Dunphe" Cheers from South coast of England.. kinda near to Stonehenge. 😀🎼🎸💚🐕
i remember finding this in a local record store and it had the DFA lightning bolt on it and it was like 5 bucks and so obviously i picked it up and when i pressed play nothing was the same again
I actually came across this song with SoundHound via a TH-cam commercial. It's emotional, Moody, enthralling...... I love this type of music I'm glad I came across it. All my favorite discovered songs are all clips from TV shows, from movies, to background music from American Dad, you can find them in the strangest places. If you like this you'd probably really like the decemberists, hazards of love for the drowned
I discovered this song on Spotify, and hooked ever since. I thought I stumbled upon a gem from the 90’s as well...so now I just find myself abusing the replay button

This is the weirdest thing ever! We did exactly the same in Urban Outfitters Manchester yesterday I asked someone what it was as it sounded just like Robert Smith's vocals.... What a weird coincidence good song isn't it?
Found this song this week and listening it on repeat. I was also reminded of The Cure, who is playing here (Cape Town) weekend after next. Serendipity!
@@stazzeldskater So, the singer and the guitarist from CCFX are in another band called the county liners. They have a song called love letter, Maria, and Oklahoma. They’re all beautiful. I wish they would perform some of that stuff live
People commenting on CCFX videos, great band, but this only has some vague similarities with the Cure. Get some ears. I say this as someone who has had the cure as fav band for 26 years. Don't be so lazy in your musical comparisons. Robert Smith has never sung that high, the guitar while it has a lot of delay isn't playing typical cure lead lines, the bass is a repeating drone i have never heard on a cure song and that kind of 90's dance drum machine beat has i think only ever been used on one cure song that was never released on any record (well probably on the rarities record, i never got it cause by then i already had collected all the cure's rarities). Thank you goodnight.
Can’t just drop a comment like that without elaboration. This is why I watch live performances, because they’re not perfect. I’m almost enjoying this version more than the studio recording.
When I first heard this song on Spotify I thought it was a gem from the early 90s that I was just now discovering... I'm Amazed

Yep.
Just discovered this song a couple days ago and 100% thought there were 2 people singing in the song... WOW. What an amazing voice she has
This song is peak nostalgia for a time that never existed
Yes I’ve been trying to figure out how some songs can trigger this emotion for the longest time
lol it’s just a hip hop beat from 1992 with guitar delay. It’s not that serious
@matthewwilson5180 I was alive during that time and no lol, not the same
this song is insane
This gave me some Chapterhouse, Susan Vega & shoegaze vibes.
Couldn’t stop playing this for weeks straight.
I agree! Been enjoying this Magical!
What a staggeringly beautiful voice! Incredible song (one to wait)
Just came here to verify it's NOT Robert Smith. Great Song. Love it.
OMG, I did too! It sounds like Robert Smith on the radio so much!
More people who have apparently never really listened to a cure record in their lives.
@@milkcarton6654 for real lmao
I've had a few folks ask if it was the cure when I play this, I've never quite heard the cure in it, but you're definitely not the only one.

I heard this in an urban outfitters and had to ask the song. Has some mad cool The Cure vibes to it.... I REALLY like this!!! Keep it up!

You should listen to the remix album.
hahah same but at a weekday store
Song hits !!! Reminds me of that good shoe 👞 gaze rock of the early 90s
This is different.. and FUN!! Unique band. Props
i just love her energy
Endlessly love it!!!
Back to life, back to reality...
govern0r or “Altogether Now” by The Farm, and various other 90's tracks. 😄
Amo esta canción ❤
Magical mix of CC Dust and Trans FX
She's got an Annie Lennox vibe in the best way possible. Love this band
People think this sound early 90s? Nahh, this song gives off early 80s vibes, like something from The Cure or Joy Division, in my opinion.
perfect
Mary Jane dunphy she’s brilliant
what kinda drum machine we hearing here people? great song what a feeling
Roland 808
@@HexagonAnon completely wrong.
this is a famous drum break from early 90s sample CDs
@@nmh1120 do you have the link to this break?
I wish they would play some “County Liners” music. Maria, Love Letter and Oklahoma are wonderful!
Love Letter is my shit.
Oklahoma?
Is that a band?

1:55 for whoever came here for the VLC player. Thank me later.
Wow
Has standing outside a broken phone booth vibes
@user-uv7wg5gy2u the only other one I know of atm is livin loose by George Clanton! Sorry it took me so long to get back to ya
VLC laptop, relatable content
What is VLC laptop?
I hope she is
They have what appears to be a dynamite sound. Could have used a little cowbell. Really digging this band.
rules
christian pulisic chelseas number 10 is deep
wtf are u talking about
More reverb was needed on vocals
Took her a minute to warm up
With the ranges she hits, can you blame her?
She sounded great from beginning to end

Not the most successful attempt to perform a great song live. But that happens, maybe there were good reasons.

Strongly disagree. I think this was great and stayed true to the recorded version
Teach the dude to play the guitar, jeez.
Show us your KEXP session plz
@Nicholas Abrams nah he's okay. The delay does most of the job.
David Rivera lol right? People are so pretentious only expecting the finest.
Why learn the guitar when you can do what he does at 1:58?
@@ApneaNZ True. He should do that more. Big improvement.
a beautiful song but it's a pity that it turned out to be an extremely unsuccessful live performance
Their timing is unbeleivably shit
