Excellent video. I have seen other DIY videos on straining sand but never a mention to remove the iron granules with a magnet. Excellent advice. Thanks.
Brilliant approach to colour. I'm modeling the Elora White Lime Company and need to colour balast and the wastè from the kilns, and now I know how. The best diy on balast I've found. I wish you success in future endeavors. Regards...Bab.
@@HOTRAINUNIVERSEANDDIORAMAS It looks perfectly grey in colour. It is used for building construction instead of river sand in Tamilnadu. Because our TN government had banned sand robbery along the banks of Cauvery river. So, no where we can find river sand in construction sites for the past 5 years. M sand is nothing but crushed and powdered form of granite and rocks.
Enjoyed the video. I agree, the colors made the ballast “snap”.
Thanks a lot for your appreciation 😊
Good job! I have done the same thing with ground walnut shells.
Walnut shells are also very good substitute. 👍❤️

And removing iron particles before staining sand is a must for our loco health.

Can M-sand particles replicate ho scale ballast?
Size between 0.5mm and 1mm?

@@santhosh5796 I've no idea about that particular sand.... If it resembles the same as ho scale ballasts... You can use then....
Do you sell your second hand used track at cheap price range ?
Let me check.... If I have some......
@@HOTRAINUNIVERSEANDDIORAMAS okay
I use playbox sand 10 dollars a 25# bag
That also a good idea 👍
