It's basically a band that tries to be innovative and "avant-garde" but fails miserably and end being complete shit and totally missing the point of experimentation. So you could call it "Shitcore", or "Fail metal".
I think one of the things I love most about this band is that they don't buy in to the whole metal culture. They don't try to make themselves look hardcore or "metal" and just have a good time writing fucking awesome music and making hilarious colourful videos.

Found a copy of this album in the trash and it changed my life (kind of). It's a f*cking masterpiece, but an acquired taste, first time I heard it I was like wtf is this, it's grown on me ever since.

Holy shit man, you're old as fuck to know what's decent and what isnt, yet you like this utter shit - you have terrible taste in music. I love that Dennis Haskins appears in this video, the somewhat-parody of Saved by the Bell, and Sixteen Candles. I also love how it makes fun of the kids who get too wasted at their prom - but this poisons me with happiness and laughter.. ;D hahahhahah Really awesome metal core or progressive/punk. Her voice is also great when she sings like that of a trip-hop vocalist in their other songs. Hands down, best video I've seen since Black Dahlia Murder's "Necropolis."

A lot of people don't really see the band Kittie as being one of the leaders, but through the years in developing their style, the Lander sister on drums and the guitarist on the last three albums really have evolved into badass musicians. I agree - I wish I could play guitar better!
I must say that the best video ive seen is You Only Live Once by Suicide Silence. But The Black Dahlia Murder is sick as fuck. My all time fav is Chelsea Grin!!
