- Launching a blistering attack on the Union government in the Lok Sabha over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday, 9 December, tore a copy of the Bill to highlight his protest.
He compared his act to that of Mahatma Gandhi tearing the discriminatory citizenship card in South Africa.

I don’t personally agree with all of Mr Owaisi’s political positions and posturing but I truly believe that he performs yeoman service for his community. His kind of rare breed of leaders are important to keep the government of the day in check - or else we shall all be roughshodded some day. Whatever else one might say about this gentleman from Hyderabad, his patriotism can never be doubted.

If you want to give citizenship, then give it to everyone who wants to be an Indian or else give it to none. Do not Discriminate on the basis of Religion.
