I'd love to have visited the ornamental lake and gardens! Thank you again for all your hard work in researching these videos and for making architectural history come to life for us all.
As usual Darren, excellent production. Very interesting and your editing brings the wheel and metal roller-coaster to life. Look forward to the next one. Best wishes, Ben 🚍🚌👑🇬🇧🇺🇦🙏🤞🚩✊
That was amazing video I love thses blackpool videos I can't wait for next video keep up the amazing work up hope you and your family and friends are well and safe
As usual, and as the comments confirm, fantastic video. Brilliant in every way. Can’t wait for last part although sad too that it is the final one. Thank you so much AdventureMe.
Fantastic videos, I am so glad I found these. I served in the fire service in Blackpool and was lucky enough to go in many of the areas you have been given access to, behind the scenes reveals many hidden gems and old history of Blackpool, just like the original house frontage hidden in the winter gardens.
Why was there such wonderful designs made, that were then taken away. I know money was a big part of it but still I can't believe what treasures have been lost. When you look at what's been replaced most constructions are not as interesting or rememberable especially now. Thank you for bringing the history back to life for us.
What I would give to ride on that Rollercoaster.... So much history in one place, would hate to see the "maintenance bill" for the Blackpool Tower as it sits right on the ocean. Again Darren, your fades and narration are the best.
Brilliant video it's cleared up so much things about the Winter Gardens. I have a couple of Blackpool now and then books but with your fade ins and narrative it makes it so much better. Last one next time 😔 really enjoyed this series.
I've really enjoyed these videos on the Winter Gardens, living in Preston I've visited there many times I remember going with my aunt as a kid in the early 80s when it was full of amusements and rides, and then going every year to the Rebellion festival later, the building has always fascinated me with it's different layers and stages of history, It's fun to trace the old buildings on google earth including the old chimney thats now stuck on the corner of the Opera House. I was wondering if you had any plans to do a video about the Alhambra Blackpool, I know it's gone now and well before all our times but it was another very interesting building with many attractions like the Winter Gardens and the Tower. I do enjoy you're videos, like your friend Mr Zero you have a knack for making it interesting.
Very interesting video again! Winter Gardens is full of history which is why I love the place as well as its modern features. Thank you for making this video, I'm looking forward to the next one!
Fascinating Darren. Excellent old photos. How sad to see they are all gone now except maybe just 1 gondola. Well documented film. Thank you again for all your hard work.
Yet again I’m blown away with these videos Darren. You work so hard for us and we all truly appreciate it Your blending of old and new photos is amazing and they really do help scope everything that was and that is now. Me and Heidi are going to Blackpool on Thursday to see the north pier and all it’s iron work that is still there (I’m dragging her there really 😂) I can’t wait for the next video 😁😁
I've so enjoyed these videos, you have done so well to find the old pictures and be able to match the view with modern times. This must have taken a long time to put it together. Thank you and I look forward to the next instalment.
You’re correct regards the carriage at Out Rawcliffe, it was a cafe many years ago then it was converted to a summer room. A family member had a caravan on site and I was lucky enough to have a look inside. Also, when you did the coaster,I thought that was going to be dated earlier, however I was probably confusing myself. In 1884 there was a narrow gauge railway installed in the winter gardens, this quickly fell into disrepair and was renovated by Michael Holroyd Smith, once running he invited the newly formed council tramway committee to view it, it became the catalyst for the Blackpool tramway. I would imagine it didn’t last very long and I’m sure this was in the same location as the coaster. Also out of interest, the winter gardens generated their own electricity prior to Blackpool installing a public network in 1893, that’s a whole other story and of particular interest to me. There may be evidence of the early installation in the basements, if not of the pre 1893 installation, then there could be some remains of the 1893 installation which reputedly consisted of 2000 electric lights.
Excellent, I’ll look forward to that, I’m more interested in the municipal electricity arrangement but if I remember correctly the Winter Gardens did revert to their own generation for a spell, to allow the municipal works to take on more customers c.1894-ish
Hi Darren. What a fantastic vlog on the second to last vlog. short and sweet . Really looking forward to the last one, on the tunnels. You always put a lot of your own time and effort in every vlog, and source as much information you can get hold of. The fades are fantastic, showing the past and present. Enjoy all your vlogs. Thank you Darren.
@@AdventureMe Wow that is a lot of time and effort. I definitely do, I'm sure a lot of other you tubers realise all yr free time that goes into all the editing and cost of travelling. I can only thank you for all your past & up & coming vlogs yet to come. They are Fab. Definitely appreciated. Have mentioned before. Your Simply The Best on here. There's nobody like the work you do and fades.
Hi Darren, top notch watching again. The steel roller coaster would have been very noisy too as it probably had steel wheels too and maybe caused upsets in the various theatres and halls around it. It was the same with the modern solo 'flying' ride that was constructed at the TV set of Coronation Street tours. Even though it probably had rubber wheels on the running gear it interfered with the outdoor filming. It didn't last long and was soon dismantled. I think there was a legal battle to get the cash back from the rides manufacturer. Cheers DougT in Mancs.
@@AdventureMe cool. These multi part series are really good as you can really get into the details. I love the Blackpool ones in particular. The train line series is good and I think distracted me from wither gardens but then ep6 came up in my recommended even though I have watched it so I went looking for the latest part and saw you mention part 9 in thr comments.
I remember my Grandmother telling me about how when she went on the big wheel it broke down and they were stuck on it for hours. They sent sandwiches up on big sticks.

Fantastic video such a shame the wheel did not survive what an attraction it would have been now.
It shure would have been
I just spent the weekend staying in one of its old carriages which has been converted into a shalet.
I was told that one of the gondolas ended up as a bus shelter in Lytham near Green Drive Golf Club
Quite possibly, is it still there?
@@AdventureMe Sorry, not sure
Tartarian Empire structures great Wheels too ❤😊
👍
Hi question everything my friends ❤
I remember my Grandmother telling me about how when she went on the big wheel it broke down and they were stuck on it for hours. They sent sandwiches up on big sticks.
Sounds pleasant. You would pay extra for that these days.
they say there are seven wonders in the world darren.your vids say otherwise
I agree
Ask why All this beautiful structures been destroyed and hidden, why is so much being uncovered now , 😮
I'm pretty shore one of the Blackpool hotels had a Gondolas
Most probably
