I'm from Whitby, growing up in the 70's and 80's and we'd usually go to one of the North Bay attractions once a month during summer. Marvels was a bit low budget and ramshackle but fun, Kinderland was amazing to us but we also nicknamed it Injuryland as we'd always come away with some large bruises, splinters, friction burns or big gouges (as you could easily have your foot go into the springs of the trampolines) but best of all was Waterscene (as it was known when it opened). In my teen years we'd sneak in at night when it was shut and drunkenly mess around in the pools as the security was very lax. Thanks for the great video and memories that flooded back.
I can remember riding that Cable Car with my Grandparents when I was a Child. I also loved watching the Boat Battles at Peasholm Park. Those where the days.
It's so sad seeing what's left - or what isn't left - of this lovely town. I came here for 15 years of summer holidays growing up and loved every one. I was devastated when Kinderland closed, and now I have my own wee boy I'm even more gutted that he won't ever experience it. Great video, very nostalgic and sad but also very invocative of happy memories. Would've liked it even more if you could've gone round what used to be Kinderland in the video, like you did with Mr Marvel's, but looking at those gates I guess you couldn't gain access. Thanks for this trip down memory lane.
I lived in Scarborough from 82 to 86 and loved it. Marvels was fabulous and I had many a happy ride on the cable car from the park down to Scalby Mills. I remember when Marvels was the Zoo and Marineland in the 70's, fabulous memories. Scarborough has lost so much of what made it a great place thanks to systematic destruction by their awful local council who really need stringing up. I also loved Atlantis which was originaly called the Water Scene. This was a fabulous nostalgia trip for me so thanks very much for sharing. Great job as usual.
I knew I had a childhood memory from Scarborough but could not put a finger on it. The photo of the waterpark at the end made the penny drop. Thanks for unearthing some nice memories and great video.
Scarborough is an amazing place. I've lived here all My life. Im afraid Scarborough Borough Council aren't so amazing. They have had a lot to do with its demise.
I loved watching we used to go Scarborough every for holidays when we were younger remember it well used to work at butlins at filey brought back lots of memories thankyou
Me & my step sister never went to the first one you showed we only went to kinderland & Atlantis water park. It was in the 90s when my dad lived in Scarborough when he & his wife owned & ran a guest house just up the road from Peashome Park. It was called The Pondarosa on Columbus ravine. Also on the seafront was a building (name escapes me) and we saw the chuckle brothers live there one Saturday. I haven’t been since about 1999 as my dad moved back here to South Yorkshire when he got divorced. He passed away in 2017 & I always wanted to go back but was scared it would bring back to many memories & emotions for me. Thank you for this - it allowed me to see it all over again 💜
Oh this is sad. My parents took me to Scarborough in 1981 and I remember Northstead Manor Gardens, marine land, the water chute, tree walk, boat battles and the outdoor swimming pool which looks like it’s long gone too. What a shame! It was a lovely resort.
Seeing the remains of Kinderland was the nostalgic journey I didn’t know I needed today! I used to go there a lot as a kid - it’s wild seeing what little there is now 😭
I used to holiday with family in Scarborough every year when I was child in the 70s. I loved PeasHolm Park especially the Tree Walk which was magical and we would always go there on the last night of our holiday. It's a shame there is nothing like it for children now
Another great video Darren, this one touched with nostalgic sadness and memories similar to the Filey Butlins story, maybe rose coloured glasses ? but certainly less simpler and less technological times. I particularly love your fade in and out , then and now comparison shots, you obviously put a lot of time in matching them up so perfectly. Wonderful little films, I look forward to the next. Kind regards.
I have brilliant memories of my Nanna and Grandad taking me to Scarborough every year in the summer holidays in the 80's the battle ships in peasholm park and remember the island being all lit up on a evening also before it was marvels amusement park it was some kind of marine place watching the dolphins and birds also went to the outdoor water park a couple of times the slides were amazing i havn't been to Scarborough for about 20 years but have such great memories good times 😀
So many memories Darren. So many memories. I remember all these places. You have taken me back in time. Times with my parents long ago. Thank you so much.
I used to ride on this as often as I was allowed as a kid. It offered a fab view of the North bay over to Scalby mills, the Astrolglide at Scalby MIlls was awesome too. Zoo and Marineland was a fantastical place to go as a kid
Still go to Scarborough for a run out on the odd weekend. Remember going on the chair lifts many times as a kid in the 70's with family that aren't around anymore. Happy times. Trying to show the traditional seaside and steam train to the new younger family members, hope they will appreciate it and carry on making the memories.
Great video thank you so much. I live in the Midlands now and watching the video brought back so many memories. I worked at Scarborough Zoo and Marine Land as it was known before it became Marvels. I used to operate the the chair lift and helped service the pylons. You can see on your video the gear for making yhe ride work rotate. The upright gear box sits in a shoe and hydrolic rams push the winding gear back to tighten the cable and allow the wheel to gain traction on the cable. I was the Dodgem mechanic there for a while (the sea air constantly caused the Dodgems to break down). I also worked the Waltzer and used to get black and blue falling over when trying to spin the cars. (A skill I never aquired) I also operated the Rollercoater. I think we got paid 50p an hour. The park used to have many animals including Dolphins, monkeys and a parrot show. It was owned by a local millionaire Don Robinson and the park was run by an ex wrestler called Tommy Hanson. I also worked for Albert Corrigan (of the famous showmen family) at the Scalby Mills Amusements. This was a lively amusement park with a mini Butlins (Colleys Camp) a stones throw away. At Scalby Mills I worked the Ghost Train and the Astroglide. (A huge 40ft high fibre glass slide) At Scalby Mills there used to be a large cafe , a pub, a parade of gift shops, Amusements, Bingo and Junior rides (Jeeps and Jets). At low tide you could wade out to "Monkey Island". Scarborough Council demolished the lot to make way for a sewerage station. Now the Miniture railway comes to a dead end unless you want to spend a small fortune at the sea Life Centre. Opposite where Atlantis was there was a funicular tram which took you up to the Floral Hall Theatre. I remember seeing many amazing summer shows there with big names such as Barbara Windsor. Scarborough Council decided to sell the antique Tram to another council and demolish the Floral Hall. It was replaced with an indoor bowling centre.
A trip on the railway to Scalby Mills was always great fun in the late sixties/early seventies. The Astroglide was my favourite - really fast! Wasn't it bright orange?
@@chrisgreen3767 Hi Chris my memory is hazy but I think there were two red lanes, two yellow and two blue. I can tell you ther were 65 steps to the top and I went up and down them a hundred times a day rescuing kids who had got stuck. We used to polish the lanes with parafin wax to make it go fast.
so many memories. i remember going up around 2010 to have a look there was still some buildings left and i remember it still had alot of statues dotted around. it was very eerie
Wow,brilliant stuff mate. Love Scarborough, been going there for years and have learnt a lot about it over in that time but your knowledge is off the scale. Keep it up,brilliantly presented and informative 👌 Regards. Andy.
Love Scarborough - went every year as a kid and again this year for the first time in 7 years! Remember exploring Kinderland as a kid, and I thought it was alright. And OMG the outdoor water park!! 🤩🤩
Loved seeing the area before and after. I have a memory of going to see dolphins perform up that hill in one of the pools. There was also a small theatre building near the entrance that housed a fake Gorilla (or something similar) in a cage, at the front. The prank was that the cage would open, and it would escape. I and everyone else started running out of the building. I remember getting trampled on by everyone running out. I don't think the dolphins were looked after very well, so I'm glad that they had to close that part of it down.
Yes! I can put some flesh on the bones of that reminiscence. Obviously a man in a gorilla suit would prowl back and forth behind the bars, growling ominously, while some bloke whose second job was probably a bingo caller would give a running commentary, ‘The Missing Link from Borneo, ladies and gentlemen. Don’t poke him through the bars, he doesn’t like that. An animal when he’s roused, etc. etc. …’ Meanwhile the ‘gorilla’ was becoming increasingly enraged, shaking the bars and roaring, until finally he threw open the door … I’m surprised the whole show hasn’t made it into the psychological textbooks. I mean, everybody knew that he was just a man in a gorilla suit. Didn’t they … ? c.1984
I'm from Scotland and with the Army cadets spent two 2 week holidays in North bay in the summer of 1986 and 87. I know things move on but life others say its so sad to see places not there anymore. Especially The Water scene as it was formally called. Such fun times, loved that place 😢. Never seen slides like that before.. Great fun.
On nightshift, steady away so gonna have a bit of a binge watch of some of your videos,I absolutely love this one coz it really brings back great memories of my childhood with my mam & dad & also the waterpark with my mates,we,d fill a few cars with lads & drive from marske & spend the day there, had some great laughs.
Went to Scarborough on holiday as a kid back in the early 90s, have fond memories of all three of those parks, a real shame that they all closed. Great video, thanks for making this.
This brings back some memories. We used to stay in the holiday camp in North bay. Every morning I'd walk down to the shell shop, then along to the water park. I can still taste the waffles! Last stayed in 1978
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. loved the transition from the water park to what it is now, one of my favorite features of your films. Nice camera work and drone footage. Always know I'm going to enjoy your latest, thanks for taking the time to visit these places and then share with us. Sad to see some of these places fade away into the landscape.
I have always enjoyed Scarborough especially the North Bay I can clearly remember the chair lift and in the late 90s my dog at the time a border collie / labourer cross sat in between us on the chair great fun great memories Thank you Darren
This was my stomping ground ! , My mate Steve ran the Go-Karts and Stuey worked at the American Café , free Burgers lol , as for Atlantis i Worked at the Corner Cafe in the Early 90s as head chef ! , The council in Scarborough have so much to answer for so corrupt in the 90s it was unreal , the bastards were all about the Southside , the Corner Cafe was a main stay for everyone !! , great upload pal sorry my angst gets up when i see what corruption and a few dollars more does to a town !!
Loving your channel. I remember visiting somewhere called Tree Walk Wonderland which would have been thirty odd years ago I guess. Keep up the nostalgia!
I worked a summer as a lifeguard at Atlantis when we lived on Peasholm Drive 30 years ago. The best spot was at the bottom of the slides as you could stand in the water to cool off a bit. One of the first jobs of the day was to walk up the slides to check for damage and twigs/leaves. The tiles around the edge of the pool were always slippery compared to the surrounding tarmac/concrete so quite a few banged heads and backs when people weren't careful when running and jumping in. Sad to see it as it is now.
We had many happy times at Scarborough when my Kids were little. Atlantis, Kinderland, the cable car and the fair. We all remember them, and it's very sad now they have all gone. The British seaside resorts have been in decline for many years now, except maybe Blackpool and Brighton. Hopefully things will change for the better now, as more folk will holiday more in this country due to the ever changing restrictions for holidays abroad.
I loved Scarborough as a kid, coming from Redcar in the summer months. Atlantis was class, albeit proper freezing! It's a shame all that's gone. It was well nostalgic watching this. Great video.
Very interesting, I used to go on holiday in Scarborough in the 80s & 90s and remember it fondly, except the time we got thrown out of Atlantis for causing a traffic jam on one of the slides as kids do ;) It is a shame that the Marvel's and Kinderland have closed, the North Bay has always struggled compared to the South Bay. The last time I visited was on a day trip and Atlantis had been closed for a while with some of it knocked down and the rest being used as a paintball type place, I'm glad that they at least built another waterpark and that it's indoors, it used to be freezing standing on the staircase in the wooden shack waiting to get on the slides ;) I'm glad that the miniature railway lives on and of course the battleships in Peasholm Park :)
Used to have holidays in Scarborough for several years as a kid, as my Dad used to suffer from really bad travel sickness. Many happy memories! I remember going on the cable cars with my Grandad, and visiting the old park on the top. I remember there being some huge resin cast dinosaurs up there, and me and my sister pestering my Mam to let us go on the roller coaster...which we screamed to be let off when it started as it scared us witless! I should add, we were only about six or seven at the time! Thanks for posting the video. I get the same nostalgic feel when I visit the town and look at the old cable car stations!
I love this video I never got chance to go to marvels it was before my time, however I practically lived at Kinderland every summer and I was not born until 1998 the park was open way after until at least 2005 as my sister was born that year and we used to take her there :)
Love this video.....Memories just flooding back! Remember all of what you showed us. I remember watching "It's a knock out" live in the open air theatre. The stage was in the middle of the lake and performers were transported there by boat. Great video. Thanks pal ATB.
In my 60s now!?! Had great times here! Out door pool, water park, marine centre, place full of motorbikes,!!that was the 70/80s, brilliant place, loved Scarborough then,!!!! Pale imitation now! How sad!!!!
One of my favourite rides out on the motorbike is to Scarborough (Via Sledmere and Brid). You still get a load of bikes parked up along Marine Dive on a nice day.
Many happy memories of Scarborough from family holidays in the 60s. Last time we visited was about fifteen years ago when we took mother for what turned out to be her last visit. We parked on the south cliff and walked the full length of the promenade from the Spa to what was Corner Cafe on the north bay, calling in for fish and chips at Bamfords and then a strawberry waffle at the north bay shop. Thanks for another lovely video.
Great video i remember going on the skylift very well. I would just like to add that the water splash originally came from golden acre Park in Leeds, as did the 2 stream engines on the narrow gauge railway
I'm from Scarborough and during lockdown we built a little diy skatepark at the Marvels site. A lot of it got destroyed by drunken youts. You can see a couple of remains in this video! It's great seeing an outsiders perspective of the town too :)
I think I’ve only been to Scarborough once, that was when I was at annual camp in Ripon with the army cadets, probably in the mid 1980’s. I must visit again soon!
I remember the atlantis water park when I was very little I pleased for my mum that I could go in the pool best time and I remember the cable cars and the parks it's a shame that it not there any more great childhood memories
Whilst Kinderland was a bit after my time, I do remember the rides on the train as well as the occasional treat on the watersplash. I did, as a child, get to ride the cable car but recall little of the amusements at the top of the hill. The water park was always busy, not to mention the vivid blue slides really stood out, and the pavilion where those flats now stand. How times have changed, and I guess it's not much of a surprise as to its demise as it was so far away from the harbour and other sea-front attractions.
The council have failed the town massively. One of the highest suicide rates in the country, some of the poorest families in the country. All we had going for us is tourism and the council seem happy to let that fall apart too 😢
The council are your servants, they do as you tell them. You could always get a better job and use Your own money to make the changes you want to see, or you could just sit there doing nothing except waiting for someone else to fix your problems. Lazy and feckless.
Darren, I'm over 5000 miles but your videos make me feel like I'm just around the corner. I live by Knott's Berry Farm, they have been in business or over a 100 years. Great drone work in this one and top-notch narration. Thanks. Back to work.
Thank you for sharing your adventurers. Such beautiful locales. I particularly enjoy your drone footage and beautiful fade overlay using historic images. You clearly have a passion for your work. Looking forward to many more adventure's with you.
I went on holiday to Scarborough a few times so I remember Kinderland well and a vague recollection of Atlantis. We always used to go to the naval battle on the Peasholm Park lake
Spent many a holiday as a child in Scarborough, staying at the Hotel St Nicholas. I remember visiting Kinderland with the kids club & a TV crew in the 80s, we were filming for Wish you were here. Many happy memories 💕
I loved the water chute, I used to have a ride then go to the end of the queue and go again and again! I also remember walking underneath the cable cars as they travelled along, but Peasholm Park and the enchanted island was my favourite. Thanks for the memories 😀
Remember holidaying in Scarborough in the early 90s and riding rubber rings down the rapids at the water park and the naval battles in Peasholm Park. Thanks for the memories sir.
What a great video. Just like you I never went to marvels park on the hill but went to all the others except I never went down the Water slides at Atlantis. I remember all these things well and wondered why they closed and were left to rot and also why the land is still like it is!!! Thanks for sharing what it’s like. I’m Bridlington blooded and visited their often. Will follow your walks next time I’m there. Great stuff. Oh and so glad to see the water chute is still running!!!
It's such a shame that places like these small attractions like these a slowly disappearing. Love Scarborough but I didn't know there was that abandoned site behind Peasholm park. The council should really inject some money to see if they could bring it back. Great video.
I dont remember kinderland but I remember the cable cars my dad nearly took me on one of them but I started crying 😂🔙 atlantis I had some of the best summer days there swimming in the pool so sad these attractions are no longer there 💔 I've been coming to Scarborough for 26 years and I still go to this day get very nostalgic when I look at North bay ❤ I'm planning to write a romance novel set in scarbados and some of my childhood memories will be featured in it 🤗💞
There used to be more to see up there a few years ago but a lot of soil was dumped there during the construction of the new water park (you can see the different colour of the 'fresh soil'). Under that soil is a lot of foundations for buildings along with tiled floors and drainage points.
Great video...a lot of memories there of Kinderland and the water chute. Remember pulling up at Scalby North Bay on the open top bus in awe of the Atlantis Water Park as a kid. Great days. One new subscriber.
Great video. Brought backlots of very happy memories of zoo and marineland along with Mr Marvels amusement park. Riding the Waltzers, roller coaster and bumper cars. I worked taking photos of Rupert bear and bugs bunny up there in the late 70s best job ever. Kinder land was the go to place with my kids for many happy year. 👍 nice job Darren
Used to love going to Scarborough all the time as a kid, don't live far away. Carried on going with my own children, lots of great memories. It's absolutely criminal what they've done the place the last decade or so, North bay's wrecked, Futurist gone, the largest theatre outside London, to be replaced by a tinpot wheel. Scandalous. Don't bother going anymore.
North Bay wrecked?!! Err no, Scarborough North Bay is beautiful! As it should be, natural rock pools and not spoiled with loads of amusement arcades! You go to South Bay side for those. North Bay is idyllic for children with the rock pools. Peasholm Park and the lovely Peasholme Glen walk 👌
Thanks for sharing, I remember visiting all these fun parks, Marvels, Scarborough Marineland Zoo and Kinderland - also fond memories of watching its a knockout here too. Did the water chute originate from Golden Acre Park in Leeds ?
I am originally from Leeds and spent my childhood family holidays in Scarborough and Bridlington in the 70's I remember Peasholm Park but not anything else you have shown in this video. I plan to visit Scarborough next month so will explore that thanks to your video.
Brilliant 👏video Darren I went to marvel as a teenager 35 yrs 😀ago it was a good place was there on Saturday with my wife and kids ahh the nostalgia cheers mate say hi to barney 👍

Yeah Kinderland was fenced off unlike the other. As I saw on the drone, nothing left at all in there anyway.
I lived in Scarborough from 82 to 86 and loved it. Marvels was fabulous and I had many a happy ride on the cable car from the park down to Scalby Mills. Forgetting the past makes the future irrelevant.
Your work in these videos is amazing .. thank you, very enjoyable.
Thanks mate. So true

I can believe so.

As Scarborians ourselves and living 5 minutes away from where you were, absolutely loved this, my mum used to work in the cafe at Mr Marvels 😁
Thank you Darren for another walk back into the past. Nice job!. Cheer mate.🏴😊👍🇺🇸

I never realised how much Scarborough had to offer,as kids in the 70's 80's we went to Blackpool.

This is my favourite channel, videos are fantastic mate❤️
On nightshift, steady away so gonna have a bit of a binge watch of some of your videos,I absolutely love this one coz it really brings back great memories of my childhood with my mam & dad & also the waterpark with my mates,we,d fill a few cars with lads & drive from marske & spend the day there, had some great laughs.
Went to Scarborough on holiday as a kid back in the early 90s, have fond memories of all three of those parks, a real shame that they all closed. Great video, thanks for making this.
Another great video,I'd forgotten all about the water chute & miniature railway. Its good to see that their still operating. Thanks Darren.
This brings back some memories. We used to stay in the holiday camp in North bay. Every morning I'd walk down to the shell shop, then along to the water park. I can still taste the waffles! Last stayed in 1978
Thanks. More to come
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. loved the transition from the water park to what it is now, one of my favorite features of your films. Nice camera work and drone footage. Always know I'm going to enjoy your latest, thanks for taking the time to visit these places and then share with us. Sad to see some of these places fade away into the landscape.
I have always enjoyed Scarborough especially the North Bay I can clearly remember the chair lift and in the late 90s my dog at the time a border collie / labourer cross sat in between us on the chair great fun great memories
Thank you Darren
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching.
Yes it is. I remember it fondly.
Thanks for watching
I love this video I never got chance to go to marvels it was before my time, however I practically lived at Kinderland every summer and I was not born until 1998 the park was open way after until at least 2005 as my sister was born that year and we used to take her there :)
Love this video.....Memories just flooding back! Remember all of what you showed us. I remember watching "It's a knock out" live in the open air theatre. The stage was in the middle of the lake and performers were transported there by boat.
Great video. Thanks pal
ATB.
Thanks mate
I really like the way you superimpose the old pics. I'm a big fan of Scarborough and really enjoyed this! Thanks!
In my 60s now!?! Had great times here! Out door pool, water park, marine centre, place full of motorbikes,!!that was the 70/80s, brilliant place, loved Scarborough then,!!!! Pale imitation now! How sad!!!!
Does anyone remember Dowsons of Scarborough, the motorbike shop??
Loved the miniature railway in Corner Cafe!
I remember going on the cable rides. This video is interesting and informative but gave me a lump in my throat. Thanks.
Great memories of theses places. Thank you x
Great video i remember going on the skylift very well. I would just like to add that the water splash originally came from golden acre Park in Leeds, as did the 2 stream engines on the narrow gauge railway
Yes apparently so. The engines I saw when I was there.
Yes it has blossomed recently.
All we had going for us is tourism and the council seem happy to let that fall apart too 😢
Like most seaside towns with lots of unused B and Bs and hotels the government housed the homeless and feckless families there
By heck you do talk shite
Valley Bridge is notorious for suicide, and the big hotel near it is a massive shit-hole as well
@@jamesbielby3491 talking shite
The council are your servants, they do as you tell them.
You could always get a better job and use
Your own money to make the changes you want to see, or you could just sit there doing nothing except waiting for someone else to fix your problems.
Lazy and feckless.
Thanks for this! Ive never been to Scarborough but its a shame to see how much stuff has gone!
Darren, I'm over 5000 miles but your videos make me feel like I'm just around the corner. I live by Knott's Berry Farm, they have been in business or over a 100 years. Great drone work in this one and top-notch narration. Thanks. Back to work.
Thanks Mike. I know Knott's very well. Still to go there, but I have driven past it a few times on the freeway.
Loving your videos! Thank you and keep them up 😊
Nice into. Great tour on forgetting history. Thank you Darren. Shame the what is left of the cable car can not be looked.
Thank you for sharing your adventurers. Such beautiful locales.
I particularly enjoy your drone footage and beautiful fade overlay using historic images. You clearly have a passion for your work. Looking forward to many more adventure's with you.
Thank you very much!
I went on holiday to Scarborough a few times so I remember Kinderland well and a vague recollection of Atlantis. We always used to go to the naval battle on the Peasholm Park lake
Me too. I didn't realise how big they were.
Spent many a holiday as a child in Scarborough, staying at the Hotel St Nicholas. I remember visiting Kinderland with the kids club & a TV crew in the 80s, we were filming for Wish you were here. Many happy memories 💕
Thx for sharing this i spent alot of my childhood there in the late 70's early 80's
Thanks for watching
I loved the water chute, I used to have a ride then go to the end of the queue and go again and again! I also remember walking underneath the cable cars as they travelled along, but Peasholm Park and the enchanted island was my favourite. Thanks for the memories 😀
The water chute is still there and operating
Great video 👍
Only recently discovered your channel and its brilliant. Love seeing the old vs the current. Thanks for doing these.
Thanks mate. Welcome aboard.
First time visited this week spent 3 days there at crows nest just down road. Really loved my time there wish i had more time.
I dream to see Scarborough one day! My family moved to Canada from that region in the 1890's! Thank you so much for posting this!
No problem. Glad to help. It's a beautiful place.
Another good one mate ….used to go to all these in the 70s and 80s as a kid when we had a caravan at burneston a couple of miles away….memories
Remember holidaying in Scarborough in the early 90s and riding rubber rings down the rapids at the water park and the naval battles in Peasholm Park. Thanks for the memories sir.
The south cable car was added at a much later date, i seem to remember later in the mid 1980s, when the outdoor pool was converted into a water park.
Just discovered your channel. Great content and delivery. Subbed!
It's such a shame that places like these small attractions like these a slowly disappearing. Love Scarborough but I didn't know there was that abandoned site behind Peasholm park. The council should really inject some money to see if they could bring it back. Great video.
This park was really nostalgia and basically this is really sad for abandoned and permanently closed 😢.
Had happiest days of my life at Scarborough when a nipper with me grandparents mam dad .
I dont remember kinderland but I remember the cable cars my dad nearly took me on one of them but I started crying 😂🔙 atlantis I had some of the best summer days there swimming in the pool so sad these attractions are no longer there 💔 I've been coming to Scarborough for 26 years and I still go to this day get very nostalgic when I look at North bay ❤ I'm planning to write a romance novel set in scarbados and some of my childhood memories will be featured in it 🤗💞
Sounds good. It has lots of history.
Just got home from a weekend at North Bay. Loved the video. I remember the old water park.
There used to be more to see up there
a few years ago but a lot of soil was dumped there during the construction of the new water park (you can see the different colour of the 'fresh soil'). Under that soil is a lot of foundations for buildings along with tiled floors and drainage points.
Great video, love how you put the old pictures in as well
I remember all of that in the 50s and 60s. Was the go to place when in Scarborough. The walk along the Marine drive for a 5yr old was a trek.
I only remember the 80s version, but as a kid it was magical.
So many memories from my youth and the corner cafe as well all gone now sadly 😢
Another great video really enjoyed watching that I have happy memories of the cable car my dog used to come on it with me 👍
Thank you
Thanks mate. I never got to ride it, if I did. I don't remember.
Great video...a lot of memories there of Kinderland and the water chute. Remember pulling up at Scalby North Bay on the open top bus in awe of the Atlantis Water Park as a kid. Great days. One new subscriber.
Thanks mate.
Been to Scarborough quite a few times, never knew any of this. Interesting.👍
Wow! Thanks for doing this video, I spent my childhood holidays going too Marvels, loved it, feeling nostalgic, Great work 👍
My pleasure!
Loved this, thanks for taking me back in time :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@AdventureMe certainly did, I’m going to give your Blackpool pleasure beach series a watch as soon I get the chance :)
The huge chairlift turning wheel were you started filming has only been gone about 3 years This is such a sad site .
There’s a water chute like that one in your video in East Park in Hull. Ridiculously good fun for a simple ride!
Yes I've been on that one years ago. The other is at wicksteed. Only 3 left now.
I've travelled on the chairlift and miniature railway quite a few times in the 70s and 80s.
Thanks Jim.
These are brilliant docs bud
Thanks mate. More to come.
I lived in Scarborough from 1990-1992. Such a shame these places aren't there any more.
I am originally from Leeds and spent my childhood family holidays in Scarborough and Bridlington in the 70's I remember Peasholm Park but not anything else you have shown in this video. I plan to visit Scarborough next month so will explore that thanks to your video.
Whenever I walking about now I’m always looking around to see what might have been there before , cheers Darren 👀
Glad to help
Brilliant 👏video Darren I went to marvel as a teenager 35 yrs 😀ago it was a good place was there on Saturday with my wife and kids ahh the nostalgia cheers mate say hi to barney 👍
