Just to be clear I had already identified that there was oil pressure by measuring the resistance at the sender - 250 ohms without the engine running, 70 ohms with. Never, ever run an engine if you think there is no oil pressure, you can destroy an engine very quickly. The fault in my case was a bent pin on a connector, I had straightened it before this test, I am now showing very good pressure, it's a brand new high pressure pump from a Buick Grand National.
