I just bought a 2004 2.5L with the 5-speed manual shifter. Beautiful little car. So much fun! I would have preferred the 3.0L with the 6 speed, but this car only had 42,000 miles on it. Plenty of fun left in it yet. Couple of problems, though. Of course, the top doesn't work. So I have to do that manually till i can replace that motor. But the steering failure is the expensive thing. The light on the dash lights up, and the power steering doesn't start up. It's a $10,000 repair at the BMW dealer! The part alone is $5,000! That's more than i would expect to pay to replace the engine!
It is really a very attractive car. I bought an 05 2.5i back in Feb this year, and absolutely love it. It's maroon with 6cylinder 5-spd manual, tan interior, electric & heated seats, electric mirrors. Purchased it in Northern Virginia and drove over 900 miles home to Tampa Florida, enjoyed the trip without any speeding tickets. Would've like to have 6-spd instead especially when on the hway, but was unable to locate a 6-spd manual with the colour combination that I preferred. I performed a few basic things preventative maintenance, like ignition/coils/plugs & air filter change, disa valve replacement, along with wheel spacers 15mm front and 25 mm rear for the 16inch standard wheels for cosmetics let me tell you, it changes the appearance/stance. When my regular mechanic inspected the car he was very impressed with overall condition, both inside and out. He recommended valve cover gasket, control arm bushings, flex disk, engine mounts and belts which i had done as preventative maintenance since the car had 106k miles. The next thing I have in mind is to check the drainage plugs for the roof and to relocate the roof motor. I plan on keeping this baby for a long time.
Thanks for the comment. Sounds like you have a lovely car there - I do like the maroon and it must look great with the tan leather! Good to hear of a Z4 being so well looked after. They are tremendously reliable, particularly when well maintained, so I am certain it will be with you for many years and prove a good companion for pleasure drives around Florida. Thanks for watching and enjoy your Z4.
Please join us in the ZSCCA. We do lots of driving and events in southwest FL - from Tampa and down to Venice where I live. Thanks from Rich R - 04’ silver Z4 2.5L
Thanks for the comment Simon and kind feedback on my video, much appreciate. I'm glad you enjoyed it; I certainly enjoying buying and improving the Z4, which now has a new owner in Europe! Thanks for watching. 👍
Thanks for the comment, it is great to know you enjoyed the video. The Z4M is a wicked car; well done for owning and enjoying one, I can understand you keeping hold of it. Thanks for watching and I appreciate you being a subscriber. 👍
Thanks for the comment. You have perfect roads in France to enjoy the Z4 and you've bough the right model in my opinion... that engine is fantastic! Thanks for watching.
Picking up my "new to me" 2008 Z4 3.0 tomorrow! Was lucky to find one with the 6sp manual, sport package, and only 56,000 miles. Looking forward to keeping and enjoying it for a very, very long time.
Thanks for the comment Steve and goo luck with your new car - I hope collection went without issue and the Z4 is now at home and safe with you. Do enjoy the car, they are loads of fun, and over time I am certain you have an appreciating modern classic roadster on your hands. Thanks for watching my video.
I have a 2.5 liter E85 With the manny tranny. Bought it with 72k miles and I put 16k miles on it in less than 2 years. Just did the entire cooling system refresh. What a great and fun car. Many times I prefer driving it instead of my M2. Cheers.
Thanks for the comment, it sounds to me that you have a nice car there. Very different drive to an M2 and possibly more engaging... keep enjoying it and thanks for watching my video.
Thanks for the comment, it is great to know you enjoyed the video... I appreciate it. You certainly have a rare car and great to know you continue to drive and enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
Great video, got a 2.5 myself. In the process of binning the electric power steering and fitting a hydraulic system from an m3. Can’t wait to see the improvements. They are a very pretty car and the soundtrack from the inline six is amazing
Thanks for the comment; great to know you enjoyed the video. Sounds like you have a nice car and doing some nice modifications. Keep hold of it as they will be a rare sight on the roads in the not too distant future. Thanks for watching.
I got my 2007 M 6 speed roadster in red a couple of weeks ago, 88Km, ex Japan. Initially I found it quite hard to change gears cleanly, I found you can't rush it, just let the engine rev out, then be deliberate with the change, 340hp in one of these is quite a buzz. Most people have no idea what this is, which suits me fine. in no way would it stand a chance against an electric car, but to me that is not point of these. The only BMW engines I like are the sixes, this is 6th, I still have a 135i coupe as well... as ICE dies I will take forward to my time with that experience...
Thanks for the comment - reads to me that you have a very nice Z4 M there which compliments your 135i very nicely. Keep enjoying them and thanks for watching.
Thanks for the reply, oh I also brought an Mercedes SLK R171 55 AMG, very different cars, but real joys to drive... and I am just working class, but with a passion for cars. Thus I watch channels like yours. I also have 2 Fiat 20vt Coupes, a first gen Porsche Cayenne Turbo... I'm currently selling and buying to reduce the number of cars I have. Who knows what I will look at yet, maybe some like you showcase.... I will be watching 🙂
Thanks for the comment and great to know you have just bought a 3.0ltr Z4. They are great roadsters - loads of fun, fantastic performance (and noise), and they have the looks to boot. Enjoy your car and thanks for watching.
I have one of these... 3.0i manual... Bought for... £2,100 two years ago 😂😂😂, and with 60k on the clock 😳... There was a few little niggles to sort out, which I did myself and now I have a stunning Z4🥳. They are cool machines😎, and the lady loves it. By the way, without being facetious, the e85 3.0i has 228 bhp and 231 bhp, depending on the year 😉.
Thanks for the comment and the info re. BHP of the E85. You have a bit of a bargain on your hands there, it is good to know you and "the lady" are enjoying it. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment, it's good to know you enjoyed the video. Thanks also for the feedback, my mistake... I do believe the Z4 3ltr is circa 70KG lighter than the Z3. 👍 Thanks for watching.
Do you think all of the Z4 versions could potentially be classics including the 2.5i? Or do you think just the 3.0i will be "the classic"? Great video!!!
Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed it. Not quite sure how I got the BHP wrong as I know they are 231bhp... that's going to frustration me! 🤣 The 3.0ltr Z4 certainly is a good car - keep enjoying yours. Thanks for watching.
Im on my 2nd Z4 having had the E85 now i have the E89 what happened to your Z4 its not been taxed or has a Mot since 2022 obviously not on the road anymore
Thanks for the comment and good to know you are on your second Z4: they’re great cars. The new owner of my Z4 exported it to Prague. It’s now permanently registered in Prague where he continued to really enjoy the car. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment; good to know you like the Z4. Thanks also for watching the 330Ci video - that car was sold shortly after making that video, but we do still have the BMW E90 M3 (video on the Channel if you fancy watching it).
Thanks for the comment. I am 6' 4" and fit just fine, when in the car... it is a bit of a climb in and our, but not too bad at all. Good luck with your search. Thanks for watching.
good car until the steering fails , very expensive to fix as ive found out ,iv e got a 3.0 ltr manual with a hard top in sterling grey, thinking of selling it because the steering could fail again ,it had a design fault which bmw never did a recall for.
Thanks for the comment, it sounds like you have a nice car. You are right in that some jobs and repairs on the Z4 can be expensive, but once it's done you should be okay. 🤞 Thanks for watching.
Can't keep them all John, but it was nice to return this Z4 to a nice standard and enjoy if for a couple of months. Thanks for the comment and for watching... stay tuned.

Thanks for the comment. The Z4 is a pretty roadster, albeit personally I like the Z3 just that little bit more. Thanks for watching.

I had the tin top 3 litre Z4 2010 model, back in 2014, wish I kept it depreciation is very slow on them still doing good money
Good advice thanks
Are they all on run flat tyres or do they carry a spacesaver . ? Thanks
Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you found the video useful. I do not believe any of the Z4s came with a spacer saver. Thanks for watching.
What a good man I. getting g one soon

Good review, but you're wrong regarding weight. I have a Z4, 3,0i manual and loving it. The Z4 is lighter than the Z3, 2,8.
