    I have a 2003 Z4 I bought new and it has been a great car for the last 20 years. We live in Oregon and have been to the East coast twice with it. My wife and I love it. It has a 2.5 engine and a 5 speed. Just changed the oil at 112,000 and pulled the valve cover to see what it looked like inside. I have run Mobile 1, synthetic oil for nearly the entire time and it was beautiful inside. We are in our 70's and will drive it until we can't get in it any more.

    The black switches on the trunk area are for increasing trunk space, it lifts the roof upwards giving you more space, if it's up the roof doesn't work AND you can only use it when the roof is closed, so use only on wintertime or if really necessary, otherwise you can forget it up and wonder why the roof doesn't work (it's blinks orange light as a reminder tho)

    I have the 2.5 2005 e85 beatiful car but be ready to fix a lot of minor inconveniences to keep them looking new over the years of owning one. Change the valve seals as bmws seals are infamous to leak oil all over your engine , and if mechanicly inclined reposition your convertible top mortor to your trunk as where it was designed to go in your water drain under the top it fails do to water damage about every 2 years if not serviced.. but aside from making small adjustments the car looks beautiful sounds great and feels amazing when you takw it out top down .

    I have a 2005 2.0 with 6 gear manual transmission, and 150k km mileage
    It's slow as fuck, but it's fun enough for cruising while obeying the law.
    And it looks good, that's the most important thing about roadsters anyway. Perfect first car for me as I don't have kids and I'm still young enough to enjoy life
    The car is not for antisocial people, lot's of people will look at you while driving and come to talk in parking lots. You have to enjoy that.
    It's okay for daily driving in cities and perfect for summer nights on back roads. I wouldn't want to daily drive this on the highway tho it's noisy af inside and with roof down it's impossible to hear anything. Making an occasional roadtrip is very fun and the cargo space is enough for 2 people unless you travel with a woman ;)

    This car has aged really, really well! First produced from 2002.... 21 years ago!? 😵 It looks far too crisp and modern to be THAT old! Only the fairly basic interior tech shows any sign of age (and actually, I like that clean and basic minimalism). The used prices are also very reasonable and the engines are found in the 3 and 5 series, so easy to service and get parts for. I'm struggling to see any downsides here. It looks to be an almost perfect second/weekend car. I want one!

    Dude I’m FL too. I have a 2004 BMW Z4 3.0 liters and it 6 speed manual. I’ve been reducing weights for the vehicle and and it drive more flexible than original. Is it worth it if I spend money to tune this car into a racer?

    • @RealAutoNerd
      @RealAutoNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Husky, the BMW Z4 is a great sports car that would undeniably be an amazing racing vehicle. Reducing its weight while increasing rigidity would certainly make it unbelievable. I would only modify a car with high miles, we must save pristine cars.
      At the same time, I have to indicate that racing is only acceptable in a controlled environment and with the appropriate licenses and safety.

      It's 100,000 + mileage that's why I want to modify it. The engine is M54B30 and it sound like it's turbocharged. Does the OEM engine come with turbocharge (although it feels pretty weak)? Sry I want to understand my car better. I have a friend works in bodyshop trying to convince me to swap the engine with a LS1 or LS3. What do you think of it.

    • @Hajiaaa
      @Hajiaaa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes I subscribed your channel

    • @RealAutoNerd
      @RealAutoNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hajiaaa got it. The M54B30 engine does not have a turbo. It is a naturally aspired engine, however it is possible that somebody might have added a supercharger. Take a look under the hood and it should be clear if it has one (it should look like a long pipe with a big circular part at the end). The LS series engines from GM are quite good but you most likely would have to change the transmission as well (I’m not a mechanic). I recommend to maybe do that once your current engine and transmission die (it should be relatively soon since you are tracking it). That would be more financially sound
