  • Today I’m inspections the cause of a crunch-crunch type of noise happening when I do a hard acceleration. Upon removing the diff case I notice a small crack on the diff as well as 2 popped bearings. I will do a follow up video when parts arrive. This cheetah might get some new aluminum upgrades for the diff case. Thanks for watching a cheers 🍻

    I chewed up my rear diff, my buddy ruined his front, time to replace both with aluminum.

      That means one of the gears are getting stripped. You might need to replace a gear and check the bearings too.

    What drill bit or bits did you use to disassemble the car?

      1.5 and 2.0 hex is mostly used.

    I had exactly the same issue today, the grinding noise only when i had like full throttle, i opened the slipper clutch case but i didnt see any issues like yours, it was spinning ok inside the gear box, any idea what else could be?
    Edit: After some inspection i noticed that the front driver plastic cup that connects with the center differential has been eaten so i will replace it tomorrow and see if this was the issue.

      Any fixes I have replaced everything except diff and motor at this point still no luck everything looks good just horrible grinding noise.

      If it’s constant grinding noise then it’s definitely your diff. Your ring and pinion gear inside the diff might be chewed up by now. Next time you replace the diff and pinion gear make sure to locktite the screw that hold in the pinion gear that engage the ring gear. If the screw come loose it will get caught in between the gears destroying your pinion and ring gear. Happens to me all the time until I red locked the screw holding it making it permanent. Note, it’s cheaper to replace the whole pinion gear unit then just keep replacing ring and pinion gear. I buy a few at a time just to have a back up.

      @@ItsRCTeng ok i replaced almost everything inside with new parts to find the problem. It was the rear diff that was chewed up which is strange since i only have the car for like 2 months but i drive it almost everyday, at least i filled the diffs with oil so it was a good chance to do that now thanks
      Edit the noise was only when i was pressing full throttle and yeah i bought some loctite to put on the screws but i didnt know which one to pick and got both 270 and 243 number until i learned that blue is medium and green one is the strong one which I'm not sure where to put green as it will be permanent and I don't want that

      If you get grinding noise only when you throttle then the rear diff case is starting to crack at the place that holds the 2 bearings for pinion gear. I have same problem and going to replace the diff case in the rear.

    Yup I had that same issue with mine before. Good job bro 👌 Did you crack open that diff bro? You could add some nice silicone diff fluid and inspect just to be safe

    • @ItsRCTeng
      @ItsRCTeng  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I might as well check the diff since it already out. I’m going to try an aluminum diff case and see how that goes. 👍

      @@ItsRCTeng Hey bro I had just fixed my front input gear and now my pinion chewed to nothing but I put a new pinion on and I'm still getting an odd noise and some movement on that spur gear drive and also one of the rear wheels isn't spinning all the way so I'm guessing the bearings are toast too! Love your videos as a reference. Think I'm gonna shelf it for a month or so and show some other trucks some love!

    • @ItsRCTeng
      @ItsRCTeng  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There could be a lot of flex with the diff case or a crack in it or a busted bearing. I’m still waiting on part to fix mine. 👍

      @@ItsRCTeng Yeah I saw that with yours. Hey if you ever need a part for your cheetah ask me first as I got like 80$ in spare parts and could always help you out and send you something you need so you don't have to wait. Even if it's a few parts or kinds expensive I could send them to you and you could just order them off banggood and have them shipped directly to me and you wouldn't have to wait. Obviously if it's just a part or 2 I'd just hook you up for all your informative content and always helping me. Don't be afraid to ask! Also I know a seller on ebay that is in the U.S that sells the colored aluminum hop ups for the cheetah. I already got the aluminum front steering blocks that's a great upgrade you should get when you break. They have alot of upgrades for the cheetah. You should also get the upgraded cvd driveshafts they sell if you haven't yet. They are about 40-45$ for 4 but well worth it! If you ever need help finding them just let me know!

    4:07 what size is dat screw what can fit in it ?

    • @ItsRCTeng
      @ItsRCTeng  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know the size is but the 4 screws that hold the ring gear to the diff can fit in it. Might have to trim it a little to make it shorter but that screw is what I usually use for the pinion gear.

      I bought 2 of them, we broke both cars in 2 days. I jumped mine and it ripped the can of the motor apart and ruined it, my brother wrecked his a high speed and bent the chassis, broke the centerlink, strut towers, a arm pins, and driveshaft. I spent like 150 on parts and got both going again and the slipper clutch is out on one now and the other fried the esc because its not at all waterproof. I know I may be harder than the average person on it but I'm not terribly impressed. I could have bought two traxxas trucks for what I have in my two jlbs.
