come & get it was actually a 5 star for me but i feel like a campus drama like that is for a veryyy specific audience. even though there wasn’t much plot i still found it really bingeable because the characters were so interesting to follow! the heiress was a fun and quick read too, i also have 27 minutes but i haven’t really seen a single positive review of it so i’m regretting requesting that one
also i love what you said about promoting more under-the-radar books (even if you don’t enjoy them!). it’s frustrating to me that so often i see booktubers say they’re no longer interested in certain books simply because they haven’t heard anyone else read them…maybe you just missed out on a new favorite book simply because it’s not ‘buzzy’
I love buzzy books as much as the next person… but I think it’s nice to strike a balance to not get too obsessed with hype! Thanks for the comment Matt, I’m so glad you loved come & get it!!
I really appreciate these ARC videos because I am being PICKY when I buy books this year. I was able to remove the Rachel Hawkins from my list because at least right now I think I'll pass. Also sad to hear about the Kiley Reid because I also enjoyed her first book. And last but not least so happy to hear your thoughts about Willingham's new book. I will def be reading that one in March for the book discussion!
I think it's hard to decide if a book is going to be good sometimes by synopsis as it can be misleading so I don't feel bad about saying it didn't work for me and DNFing it even if it's a review book.
While watching this video, I have been approved for two more books when I have… a lot to review.. BUT I’m off to a good start! I have read 3 arcs so far this year
I might actually like The Heiress since theres such a strong historical fiction element, the only other Rachel Hawkins book I've read is The Villa which I liked overall even though I only gave it 3 stars.
Just yesterday I decided no more. I am DNFing NetGalley books. I don't like to rate a book I don't finish. When I continue to read miserably I'm not focused. I'm thinking about all the books I could be reading. I'm happy you are DNFing as well. I don't have a channel, but I have four library cards and nothing has to be read day 1 for me, or read early for that matter.
The Heiress and Only If You’re Lucky are on the TBR. Not sure when I will get to them! I always get so bent out of shape when I DNF ARCs, but we just have to be honest with ourselves! ❤
Right! In my opinion a DNF is still a valid ARC review if you can give specific reasons why you DNF’d that could still point the right reader towards the book!
Oh how disappointing about Twenty Seven-Minutes! Well this group didn’t go as planned at all lol. Hoping you have better reading luck on your next read.
