I was very close to my grandad and when he died when I was young (about 5) my mum and dad said I’d have full conversations with him as if he was there for hours. The doctor said that was my mind trying to compensate for the loss because I was so attached to him and I remember the conversations, they were full blown and I remember replies, questions, everything

Sometimes i hear my mom laughing, then i ask her if she laughed, then she says no. It most commonly happens like 3 seconds after i made a bad joke. Like my brain really wanted her to laugh so much that it creates hallucinations.

it could be the white noise generated by the water in your shower, you're brain is looking for patterns in the noise that could have been similar to your phone ringing/vibrating

I don't normally hear voices, but there are these rare instances where I'll be falling asleep, and then all of a sudden I hear an extremely loud thump, sounds like a metal pan hitting something right in my ear super loud, and I jerk awake. It's happened a few times, and it's weird. On a side note, when I'm falling asleep, I'll sometimes trip and fall in my thoughts, and I jerk my legs and arms in real life to catch myself, only to annoyingly jolt myself out of my sleep.
I think the loud noise thing is more like the exploding head syndrome where you would suddenly hear a very loud noise, even though nothing has caused it.
+Isaac Detherage That's exploding head syndrome. I get it all the time. Don't worry, it's not nearly as bad as it sounds. As far as the medical field is concerned, it's completely harmless (If a little annoying/stressful)
I hear voices in my head. Usually when I’m stressed out or just feel really depressed but during the times that I was depressed, it was a collage of voices that would say negative things and such. I never listened to them of course otherwise, I wouldn’t be here. But I feel it was suppressed thoughts of doubt that I tried to put in that back of my mind because the voices in my opinion sound like me or how I here myself. I’m doing a lot better now. I occasionally have that voice that just tells me to commit suicide but I know it’s not right. If I die, I want to die as someone strong willed at the very least so I live on.

Auditory hallucinations are incredibly scary. I suffered from psychotic depression for a few months a while back. I heard voices and even though I knew they weren't real it made me really paranoid. They used to tell me that people in green and black uniforms were out to get me. It took large amounts of anti psychotic medication and therapy but thankfully I got past that point in my life. It is still the scariest experience I've had, as I was convinced it was the start of schizophrenia
I actually hear voices once a day. But like small whispers. Or someone calling my name. Or just a voice. I think I'm weird. I don't hallucinate but it worries me.

As a sufferer of psychosis myself I actually found this quite informative. I take medication to keep the voices quiet. For me personally the voices I hear are loud in my head. Like thoughts that you can’t stop. Mine are violent and aggressive. If anyone else has experienced this you’re not alone and there is help out there.

I usually see black dots when I look at something dark, because that's when I see it better. I always think those are particles I'm seeing....so I'm assuming it's normal...
You can actually hear sounds that were directly sent to your brain. Likewise, voices that your brain made up could also be heard since both methods bypass the damaged transmitter.

I often re-hear things people have said after a long time. I will hear friends and family arguing, or crying. Some of it are things I heard weeks or years ago. Sometimes I can't tell if my mother is yelling at me until I see her sitting calmly on the couch, watching tv.

Oh my, I thought it was just me that heard voices in my head when I was younger, like I blamed it on my creativity because I always used to daydream and imagine stories. When I was like 6-11 (I don’t really remember when, just estimating) I had like a good and bad voice in my head, which I called goodie and baddie (which made sense to child me). And they always used to argue in my head, and I couldn’t focus when they did, like as if my brain was split into two. But I guess as I got older they completely stopped, and well I forgot it happened until this vid made me nostalgic. I’m fine now, like my brains normal ish lol.

Listened to the whole video. I’ve heard voices for 20+ years. Recently I decided I no longer wanted them, have no more need of them. Also, simultaneously, I decided that my physical health had improved significantly and I no longer needed my med. also, I had too much vacation time alone. The voice was known to me mostly as an18 year old male. The relationship was, before vacation, minimal and perfectly acceptable. In his mind however, it seemed he thought of us as lovers, unbeknownst to me. It came to a head and I landed in the hospital. I am currently seeing a mental health coach who talks as was mentioned here about integrating the voice. I think I need to accept this path, even though I’d rather be alone. I despair of being free of the voice. I have currently negotiated for a 20 year old tiny male voice seldom heard from. This is the result of your video, so I appreciate your video so much. Don’t know how this will work out yet. Comment if one can be free of any voice at all. I have a community of voice hearers and some regular friends now, which is why I have support and I trust my gut and believe in myself. Also the stress which originated the voice is gone.
It gets really weird when you keep hearing knocking and your name, but muffled, and it scares you but you try to remember it isn't real and then all of a sudden it is real the actual cops are at your door looking for you. Hard to stay sane when sometimes the paranoia ends up being an accurate prediction. Real story not a joke and the cops were alright they were just checking about a noise complaint.

It runs in my family. Maybe I have ESP but taking the stuff I hear, see, smell etc with a grain of salt is helpful. I can't stand talking to cops, but i would hate to have people politicize my death. Maybe if the cops also second guessed themselves they'd make fewer fatal mistakes.

Could children hear voices because they are open to it? Like children seeing people that aren't there and it goes away when they get older. Our brain is capable of so many things but we lose most of it because the brain focuses on the part that needs developing.
I heard sounds when I was a kid like snoring and sound of something frying but I was really young I grew out of it to one time I head a whisper but didn't understand what it was saying

For me hearing voices happens mostly when i'm not thinking about anything and my mind is at rest. It's as if the voices are trying to fill the vacant space in my head. It also happens a lot more in times of stress (usually multiple times daily) or when i think of things that scare me, otherwise i can spend a full week sometimes without hearing anything. I have no diagnosis regarding the voices as of yet but they were triggered by an event in which i suffered from psychosis due to psychedelic mushrooms and they haven't left me since. The voices usually take place only inside of my head like thoughts that are not under my control or in my own voice (the most frequent one is a woman who addresses me in this high pitched voice as if i was a child), i have only heard a voice as if it was outside of my head once and they don't ask me to do anything. Generally i hear my name being called, sometimes repeatedly, or otherwise i hear only a few clear words or syllables in the middle of unclear nonsense.
Just before falling asleep i would rarely hear screaming which makes me very fearful and dread being alone. The most frequent sounds are metal bracelets and meowing. There was an incident where i heard a door slam shut when i was home alone( no drafts because the windows were closed) called the cops but there was no one else in the house. Its annoying and inconvenient but not debilitating for me

I used to think I heard voices, and was legitimately afraid of letting anyone know in case it bought me a one-way ticket to a psychiatric ward. Once I started to learn more about my anxiety, though, and particularly pay more attention to my body, I started to realize it was directly linked to whenever I’m experiencing sensory overload. Since I experienced more social anxiety than general anxiety when I was younger, that would result in voices. Now I tend to experience whatever Is the tipping point in my sensory overload.

That's happened to me but it's also happened backwards where I wake up and swear I fell in the bed like I was hovering over it by a foot. My sister and I both had that in the same bedroom and both assumed it was normal to fall back into the awake world. Hasn't happened senes I was like 7 though.
Happens sometimes when I smoke up, I’ll be minding my own business and occasionally hear my name. I don’t hear sentences, or think I’m schizophrenic. It’s just a fluke hallucination as far as I’m aware, and happens nowhere near enough to be alarming or even mildly annoying
I think everyone hears voices sometimes. Like I have always heard someone call my name. It's not bad it really just consists of me calling back "Did somebody say my name?" and silence and i leave it up to my brain tricking me.

i hear voices that tell me to let her go. and sometimes its her that says that (the one i cant let go). sometimes they say that i'm just weak because i cant let her go and sometimes they feel pity for my loneliness. i think i want to keep those voices for not beeing lonely because i have no real friends to find support. and i feel that i can only talk to these voices about my life. its weird because sometimes, people catch me that i'm in my own world when i am talking in my head to these voices. i heard voices before but they changed the subject. its sometimes very loud but i know that they are not real so guess i'm not realy mentaly ill. just lonely and i use voices as a form of friendship. so actually i'm happy to hear voices.
Schizophrenia isn't the only cause of hearing voices. About 4 years ago I started hearing them - violent ones - and saw my shrink and was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 w/ Psychosis. ---- What is it like hearing voices? Terrifying at first, but I''m on meds and still hear them occasionally - I'm no longer afraid of them because I'm getting used to them.

I know all too well about hearing songs in your head. Lately I've been hearing The Plagues from The Prince of Egypt and You Know Better Than I from Joseph King of Dreams playing on a constant loop in my head. I've memorize The Plagues and I wasn't even trying to know that song by heart and I've nearly memorized You Know Better Than I and again I'm not even trying to memorize that song. These two songs are on a n never ending loop in my head for a reason, and I think they might have something to do with my visions lately.

I only had it happen once (twice of you include the time when I was half asleep and half awake). It was late and I was coming home from a very late class. I was very tired and had been awake for nearly 17 hourse when all of a sudden someone yelled my name. I was physically jolted by it and it actually made me more awake and helped me make it home.
Ok, no one will believe me on this one but I hear 1 voice all the time. The thing is I'm friends with that voice. For example when I study I usually have discussions with him. Even though I know it is just my brain or something else messing with me. I would legit feel disabled without him.
You have to let the voice go, like training wheels on a bike you'll never really learn how to ride a bike until you take off the training wheels, it scary because you are afraid of falling over that I'd rather scrap my knee than live in fear of scraping my knee because the fear blows it out of proportion.

Even if I know 4 languages and he SHOULD understand all of them he only answers in English but understand me if I speak French or Swedish for example.
It's a habit one slowly evolves... the more you think/be alone the more you risk this to happen... my older brother been living isolated in his room for years wanting to do nothing, we didn't know he was hearing voices all of this time til' recently mother said she noticed he was telling nothing to 'shut up'. He's now in mental rehab and isn't improving much...

Auditory hallucinations are incredibly scary. I suffered from psychotic depression for a few months a while back. I heard voices and even though I knew they weren't real it made me really paranoid. They used to tell me that people in green and black uniforms were out to get me. It took large amounts of anti psychotic medication and therapy but thankfully I got past that point in my life. It is still the scariest experience I've had, as I was convinced it was the start of schizophrenia

As a sufferer of psychosis myself I actually found this quite informative. I take medication to keep the voices quiet. For me personally the voices I hear are loud in my head. Like thoughts that you can’t stop. Mine are violent and aggressive. If anyone else has experienced this you’re not alone and there is help out there.

I often re-hear things people have said after a long time. I will hear friends and family arguing, or crying. Some of it are things I heard weeks or years ago. Sometimes I can't tell if my mother is yelling at me until I see her sitting calmly on the couch, watching tv.

Oh my, I thought it was just me that heard voices in my head when I was younger, like I blamed it on my creativity because I always used to daydream and imagine stories. When I was like 6-11 (I don’t really remember when, just estimating) I had like a good and bad voice in my head, which I called goodie and baddie (which made sense to child me). And they always used to argue in my head, and I couldn’t focus when they did, like as if my brain was split into two. But I guess as I got older they completely stopped, and well I forgot it happened until this vid made me nostalgic. I’m fine now, like my brains normal ish lol.

Listened to the whole video. I’ve heard voices for 20+ years. Recently I decided I no longer wanted them, have no more need of them. Also, simultaneously, I decided that my physical health had improved significantly and I no longer needed my med. also, I had too much vacation time alone. The voice was known to me mostly as an18 year old male. The relationship was, before vacation, minimal and perfectly acceptable. In his mind however, it seemed he thought of us as lovers, unbeknownst to me. It came to a head and I landed in the hospital. I am currently seeing a mental health coach who talks as was mentioned here about integrating the voice. I think I need to accept this path, even though I’d rather be alone. I despair of being free of the voice.
I have currently negotiated for a 20 year old tiny male voice seldom heard from. This is the result of your video, so I appreciate your video so much. Don’t know how this will work out yet.
Comment if one can be free of any voice at all. I have a community of voice hearers and some regular friends now, which is why I have support and I trust my gut and believe in myself. Also the stress which originated the voice is gone.
It gets really weird when you keep hearing knocking and your name, but muffled, and it scares you but you try to remember it isn't real and then all of a sudden it is real the actual cops are at your door looking for you. Hard to stay sane when sometimes the paranoia ends up being an accurate prediction. Real story not a joke and the cops were alright they were just checking about a noise complaint.

It runs in my family. Maybe I have ESP but taking the stuff I hear, see, smell etc with a grain of salt is helpful. I can't stand talking to cops, but i would hate to have people politicize my death. Maybe if the cops also second guessed themselves they'd make fewer fatal mistakes.

For me hearing voices happens mostly when i'm not thinking about anything and my mind is at rest. It's as if the voices are trying to fill the vacant space in my head. It also happens a lot more in times of stress (usually multiple times daily) or when i think of things that scare me, otherwise i can spend a full week sometimes without hearing anything. I have no diagnosis regarding the voices as of yet but they were triggered by an event in which i suffered from psychosis due to psychedelic mushrooms and they haven't left me since. The voices usually take place only inside of my head like thoughts that are not under my control or in my own voice (the most frequent one is a woman who addresses me in this high pitched voice as if i was a child), i have only heard a voice as if it was outside of my head once and they don't ask me to do anything. Generally i hear my name being called, sometimes repeatedly, or otherwise i hear only a few clear words or syllables in the middle of unclear nonsense.

Just before falling asleep i would rarely hear screaming which makes me very fearful and dread being alone. The most frequent sounds are metal bracelets and meowing. There was an incident where i heard a door slam shut when i was home alone( no drafts because the windows were closed) called the cops but there was no one else in the house. Its annoying and inconvenient but not debilitating for me

I used to think I heard voices, and was legitimately afraid of letting anyone know in case it bought me a one-way ticket to a psychiatric ward. Once I started to learn more about my anxiety, though, and particularly pay more attention to my body, I started to realize it was directly linked to whenever I’m experiencing sensory overload. Since I experienced more social anxiety than general anxiety when I was younger, that would result in voices. Now I tend to experience whatever Is the tipping point in my sensory overload.

That's happened to me but it's also happened backwards where I wake up and swear I fell in the bed like I was hovering over it by a foot. My sister and I both had that in the same bedroom and both assumed it was normal to fall back into the awake world. Hasn't happened senes I was like 7 though.

About 4 years ago I started hearing them - violent ones - and saw my shrink and was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 w/ Psychosis. ---- What is it like hearing voices? I know all too well about hearing songs in your head. Lately I've been hearing The Plagues from The Prince of Egypt and You Know Better Than I from Joseph King of Dreams playing on a constant loop in my head. I've memorize The Plagues and I wasn't even trying to know that song by heart and I've nearly memorized You Know Better Than I and again I'm not even trying to memorize that song. These two songs are on a n never ending loop in my head for a reason, and I think they might have something to do with my visions lately.

I only had it happen once (twice of you include the time when I was half asleep and half awake). It was late and I was coming home from a very late class. I was very tired and had been awake for nearly 17 hourse when all of a sudden someone yelled my name. I was physically jolted by it and it actually made me more awake and helped me make it home.

Ok, no one will believe me on this one but I hear 1 voice all the time. The thing is I'm friends with that voice. For example when I study I usually have discussions with him. Even though I know it is just my brain or something else messing with me. I would legit feel disabled without him.
You have to let the voice go, like training wheels on a bike you'll never really learn how to ride a bike until you take off the training wheels, it scary because you are afraid of falling over that I'd rather scrap my knee than live in fear of scraping my knee because the fear blows it out of proportion.
