  • Caterina Sforza, known as The Tigress of Forli (la tigre), for her her ruthless ways of defending Forli and Imola during the 15th century in Italy. She was not one to back down, even when it came to a fight with the Pope and his son Cesare Borgia.
While her main concern may have been defending her borders, she found time for love after her marriage to Girolamo Riario. She may have lost her power and rule of Forli and Imola, but her marriage to Giovanni de Medici would lead to her grandson becoming the Grand Duke of Florence.

I portray Contessa Caterina Sforza and have been researching her life. Most historians agree that Machiavelli was embellishing or outright lying about the skirt lifting that probably never happened. I'm currently re-reading 'The Tigress of Forli' by Elizabeth Lev. A fantastic source and one I highly recommend.

@@historybylynny I just started watching the Borgias (so late to the game, I held off as long as I could). But I can already tell if Ceterina is in it, that I’m going to end up routing for her!! 😂 And if you feel like sharing, what you think of her & the Borgias? And which female figure from this period you’re drawn to or greatly admire?

Hi Lynny, I've been really enjoying your videos, thank you for your work. I was wondering if you ever list the references you use? I had a question about your Easter video and where you found your information about how they celebrated and the clothes that were worn during that time.

Girolamo (not "Jirolamo")> in Italian the letter G has a “soft” sound before i or e, as in the English word "general".
