As long as we make the playoffs every year with a half a dozen conference title games and maybe 2 or 3 SB with JJ I'll be happy with this regime.

I've been a Viking fan for 24 years now the only time we even sniffed a SB appearance was with Favre during stupid ass Sean Payton bounty gate season. That's all I want to see in my lifetime is PA calling out the last play of the game screaming his lungs out " THE VIKINGS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL, THE VIKINGS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL, THE VIKINGS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!".

Not resigning a 36 year old QB with a bad Achilles for $45 million dollars is smart. But my favorite off-season move was Turner. Flores gets an elite piece for his scheme.
I think McCarthy was their guy from day one and the rest was just smoke and mirrors throughout the draft process. Can't wait to see what this kid can bring to the team, next year.

Consider top-10 QBs like Dak, Tua, Hurts, Burrow, Herbert, and Allen...NONE of them have ever won a SB. Now consider HOFers who have only won 1 SB...Rodgers and Favre.
Point is, even HOF or pro bowl QBs need a complete team to reach a SB, let alone win one. Keeping Kirk would have prevented having a complete team. Liked him, but he wasnt good enough to go toe-to-toe with an elite QB or stacked team with an average one. So, yes it was by far the most prudent move letting Kirk walk. I do love JMac's passion and leadership. He runs better and has a comparable arm to Kirk. If he turns out just to be equal to Kirk skill-wise it'll be a tremendous way to build a solid all-around team ala KC, DET, and BAL that just needs to get into the tournament. After that it's being in every game in the 4th quarter where destiny is often decided by luck or just one play.
Off topic. I wonder why I never see or hear about Darnold being at Wolves games?
As long as JJ never lines up behind the guard because he's flustered in a pressure situation he'll be an improvement.

I've always loved Krik. Name a time a team that downgraded their QB and improved? Also, a time the team had the 6th best QB in the division and was successful? Another era of having lots of pieces and not winning cause the king of handing the ball off isn't the guy. But you're right.... this move will get them fired. Cause the glass is full.... of pee.

HUGE dub. In order to keep him, we needed to outdo 4 yrs, 180M, 100M guaranteed! Yeah, we lost quality this year, but Kirk has a lot of issues that have shown up again and again. No NFCCG in his 6 seasons here, and just one division title.
I think the Vikings would have taken Penix if had still been there for them, but McCarthy should work out great.
I don't think they would have. It's questionable to me if any other team had Penix rated as highly as Atlanta obviously did.
Penix is at best gonna be Tannehill or Carr. Im not a fan.
Hope those works out for the Vikings. I will everyone know, I was upset over letting Kirk go. He was playing at his best when the injury occurred.

Regardless of what you thought of him.. Kirk Cousins EARNED his contract. He was great. This dude made the guys behind him in the depth chart look like losers. He was on an MVP pace last season before his injury.
