Legalise drugs and tax them and use the taxs for help with people with addiction, Portugal did this years ago and the number of people using drug declined along with the crime rates.
It's not in any of the governments interest to do that in the UK they make more money with it being Illegal
@Mass Debater you are right and wrong to a degree. yes it is partly a drugs issue and such crime wont necessarily plumbet because law abiding citizen can have guns, it is more to do with the state of societiey's cultrual indifference to crime that matters.america is a bad example while canada is a great example.
@Mass Debater fair enough. But if that was the case why is that in countries were legal self defence is permitted, there is still high levels of crime? Take america for example. I think if we were to introduce such empowering tools of self defence we should first consider strengthening our mental health system so dont end up like America but more like canada or finland.

It’s never been a sleepy town. This guy must have moved out when he was a kid. It’s always been like this. It’s like this in nearly every town in Yorkshire and probably Lancashire, especially the closer you live to town centres. These are all gang or drug related incidents. It’s not like London where random innocent people are being gunned down or attacked for no reason. Whilst that still occurs, everything shown here is likely retaliation for something.
Yes you are absolutely correct that it's a normal thing that happens especially in Yorkshire and Lancashire especially from places like Blackburn in Lancashire where I am originally from where gang rivalry between 2 or 3 different groups often involves violence and in.many cases weapons are often used such as Guns, Knives, Machetes, Baseball Bats, Dog Chains, Acid, cars being used as a weapon etc. The UK as a whole has been very lawless since police budgets were cut since 2010 when before that we had loads of police officers but unfortunately police numbers are very low in order to deal with crime being committed on the streets.
*Bradford* has been ranked number 1 for *Crime* two years in a row out of 104 postcode areas of England and Wales, according to official *Police Crime Figures.* It was ranked number 1 for *Drugs* last year (it's currently ranked 16th), and is ranked number 1 for *Violence* this year (I'm pretty sure it was 2nd in 2019).
Huds has been like that since I can remember. I went college over there all the way from London in 2006 it was raw way back then so why act as if now it is somehow much worse? It's just as it was back then. Don't hype it. That's how it is in huds.
I am originally from Blackburn in Lancashire and problems like this happens a lot in Blackburn with Drugs and violence seems to mix with each other on a daily basis especially when gangs turn on each other by using violence even on residential areas and it's been happening in areas like Bastwell, Little Harwood, Audley Range, Whalley Range which have huge Muslim community living in these areas.

when we look at the facts:
in May 2018 there were 1788 crimes commited in Huddersfield, in April 2019 it was 1614 (police.uk)
Huddersfield crime is 36% over the national average in England & Wales, 36% might sound huge, but remember, it's compared to the rest of a quite safe country, UK murder rate for instance is 7-8x lower than in Russia and 4x lower than in the United States.
the crime rates in different postcode sectors of the town differ extremly. the most crime is located in the center and a bit of the north of the city, the areas are HD1 1, HD1 2, HD1 4, HD1 5, HD2 1, HD3 4, HD4 5, HD4 6, HD4 7, HD5 8, HD5 9, HD6 3, these are the 12 postcode sectors where crime is over 50% above the rate in ENG & WLS (HD1 1 leads with 163% over the rate in ENG & WLS), meanwhile Huddersfield has also 11 postcode sectors where the crime rates are fairly normal and averaging crime rates which are just 18% above ENG & Wales and 10 postcode sectors where the crime rates are lower compared to ENG & WLS, averaging a crime rate which is 30% below the average of ENG & Wales.
So we have 21 postcode sectors in Huddersfield where crime is at normal rates and 12 postcode areas where crime is far higher compared to ENG & WLS, but again, we need to remember it's a very safe country which we compare it to. for example if we compare a safe town in the UK with a safe one in Japan, very likely the safe town in the UK will have a far bigger crime rate due to Japan having one of the lowest crime rates in the world, still that doesn't make the safe town in the UK a dangerous place or even a warzone does it ?

I have watched all episodes of Hometown. I used to live in Huddersfield and my son still does. I think Mobeen did a good job but I did feel he always stopped short of asking the killer questions, there were many but I think the main one would be ' As a community you say you are sick of Islamophobia but when are you going to start reporting your own to the police because until you do then things won't ever change '

i lived in birkby i was burgled at knife point by some Asians that lived in fartown i lived at filbert street when there was houses back to back this was about 22 years ago but police didn't get involved so i took revenge on the culprit at fartown at peridot fold were him and his mates ran into my house and put a knife at my throat and stole my goods from my house i told him it was a mistake that he would regret so i got some of my friends and we went to his home were he lived with his parents and we gave him the same curtesy he did to me but we never robbed him he got a blade at his throat and he tried to remove it from his throat so my good friend sliced his hand open and we gave him a kicking for robbing me then we left the area then the next day police came to my house to have a chat with me but never arrested me as the culprit didn't want to press charges as he knew he could be done for aggravated burglary on my house/ Huddersfield is getting worse as parents cant chastise there kids as social workers class it as abuse this goverment has coused all this mess as kids think there little plastic gangsters and think they can do what ever they want im so glad my parents gave me a slap for being a bad person as its never made me a bad person i respect them more now then ever if you play with guns then expect the worse as the police arnt messing about with people who carry guns or knifes we need to prevent more on knife and gun crimes

Having watched all 6 episodes I wonder where Azhar has been between leaving Huddersfield and returning for this programme. He appears to have had absolutely no contact with anyone in Huddersfield during that time given his surprise about the level of drug dealing and related crime. Is he that naïve or out of touch? It's long been known that British Pakistanis play a disproportionate role in the supply of class A drugs.
The families of those involved have turned a bind eye for years, for a number of reasons. They don't want to admit there's a problem in their community, some don't want to admit that their sons, brothers, nephews etc are involved, and some probably because they financially benefit from the activity.
It's not acceptable or believable for a father (or mother) to say that they weren't aware that their son etc was involved in drug supply. Apart from the sudden appearance of expensive cars, designer clothes, jewellery etc when they know their son doesn't have the income necessary for that lifestyle, there's an absence that they should have noticed. That's the absence of their son suddenly no longer needing to ask his parents for money for new trainers etc. The only other reason for this wilful ignorance is that they are absolutely shit parents, not caring what their sons are doing, where they go, who with and at all hours.
There are scores of Pakistani run take aways and other cash businesses and they can't all be getting by just on food sales and mini valets.
As for Yaqub's father, he knew all along what his son was doing. One thing Azhar didn't seem to pick up on is the level of security on Yaqub's house on Rudding Street.. It is absolutely covered in 10 CCTV cameras, far more than an ordinary house would be but perfectly consistent with the home of a drug dealer - especially one who has been targeted by rivals and who needs to keep an eye out for them as well as police. Yaqub senior is described as a successful businessman. He has a clothes shop near his home and rents one or two houses out. I doubt his genuine income would support his whole family plus Yaqub junior's family and flash lifestyle.
Yaqub junior was described as a loving family man and father of 2. This was the same person who went on the dating site Plenty of Fish using the name Stud Badboy!
Before anyone complains about some of the details above (address, nickname etc) they were widely reported at the time and a short internet search will bring those reports up.

You don’t even know what you are going on about your talking about opinions and rumours. There are so many businesses because unlike other we get off our backsides and go out and make a living. Everyone does wrong things and good things from all walks of lives. And as for Yaqub I didn’t personally know him but the parents are known to own over 100 rental shops so yes definitely his parents can afford whatever they want. And the guy who made the documentary hasn’t been here for years and knows nothing on the matter. He made a documentary based on 10-15 people’s opinion in an area of over half a million (Yorkshire)
