I tested this for tracks that are known good at 24-bit 96khz. Have some decent iem DACs but I paired this with the HD599 SE. The fiio q1 Mark 2 quality wise is brilliant but it lacks oower. My Asus mobo has a way above par onboard sound and can drive 300 ohm cans easily. Still testing it but what's immediately clear is this is a crisp dac and the sound stage is really wide. It's not for a taste.. it's pure technicality.. so manage the warmth and sparkle in tracks at source. And then the Fosi goes beast mode. I put it to you I am a picky person when audio is not up to the mark.. this is great in a wierd way. Anyone who is pairing with an open back can will benefit from this and it's not a steep price. Be realistic and these don't disappoint at all.
OK I'm subjectively loving the K5 (I own one). I drive it from the digital out on my ASUS motherboard (need a card) into my Sennheiser HDR180 headphones, FYI no microphone support. I get NO HISS. yes the DAC chip is a bit dated now, but the sound is great. the mentioned "better!" alternate is twice the price, so should be better, and is a late model. I'm sure the coming ?? K5s will be better too, and 1/2 price. I believe The K5 has NO competition at its price with its features. I will say that if a K5 "S" does emerge with newer DAC & opamps I'd certainly buy it.

Some of these other reviewers really make me angry as I have try to manually look in their description and evaluate the way they are wording things to determine if its a sponsors ad or a genuine review. Your details are right on point, no "blah blah blah, trying to extend video length crap". No cheesy stupid little intro. I came to get information and you provided it. I appreciate that. You bring up the important bits of information clearly, really reflects you know somewhat of what you are talking about. Gives me confidence in your opinion. And your summary at the end is good. I bought this DAC and happy with it. But i can't understand one moment: i connected it to PS5 via type-c and volume level is not high. In options of console the volume line is maximum. On the PC via type-c all is good. Via optical connection to TV all is good too. i wrote an e-mail to Fosi and support answered, that Sony limits the output power for audio via USB. Also, they sent to me a dispute theme on forum. So, if you will play without the microphone, you can connect it to tv via optic.
I grabbed one of these but I’m having issues with crackling. Wondering if I got a busted one because every review is positive and not mentioned such an issue, it’s not the hissing you mentioned but distinct and problematic crackling.

hello i have a question can i plug presonus eris e3.5 2nd gen to Fosi Audio K5 Pro Gaming DAC. i want to connect speakers with RCA cable to the amp I don't want to burn any of these devices and I don't know anything about units, hence my question: if the amplifier is too weak, what power should it have?
I'm having issues with my seinheiser game one headphone/mic and discord. My voice input is very low and I have gone through all my windows 11 volume controls and discord, everything is maxed out, mic is close to my mouth but still people can't hear me loud enough. It is very frustrating. Would this K5 pro help improve my voice volume output?
@@MrAyritwere you using mic monitoring? I mean could you hear your own voice through the head phones or did it sound like your fingers were in your ears? I need to know this before buying.
I don't have Optical input on my PC so can I plug in with USB and use the optical to plug into a soundbar that has only optical and HDMI ARC connections? It has Bluetooth but its very laggy.
I my upcoming PC build I really want to bury my loyal xonar essence stx soundcard which has served me more then well. Im thinking of buying this to use with my HD650 which I use about 300ohm. All in all will this do a good job or am I downgrading and should go for something more pwerful?
Around five years ago I had a Xonar Essence STX sound card and it was quite good for headphones, I parted with it reluctantly due to an RMA issue. These days I'm on an Ifi Zen DAC V2 and I like it, the sound is detailed and musical like the STX was (both use Burr-Brown DAC chips so that makes sense). I'd expect the K5 Pro would be a downgrade from the STX. Personally I wouldn't go out of your way to upgrade to something like a Zen DAC for the sake of sound improvement alone, as I myself find that the more worthwhile improvements relate to the flexibility of having a plug-and-play external sound device and suitable output options that match my needs.
