how is the task of rewiring the 954, my mechanic shot 16 volts and fried my main fuse,now i have another cluster from amazon and nobody will touch putting it together for me
How did you repaint the frame chassis. . Did you powder coat it or did you use another kind of paint. I want to repaint mine but don't know what to use
Nice job man! I'm about to get my own 954 in a few days and i have all this work to do.....plus, to change the gearbox! This will take more than 4 months...i think, haha!! Congrats again for the great job...
Thanks and becareful if you are replacing the gear box because you hearing noises from the gearbox area is because you need to use a shorty exhaust because the long exhaust system makes a lot of weird noises
It's not matter of noise. The bike ''spit'' the 3rd gear .The ex owner was not very interested of changing oil or to go for a service! So, he almost destroyed a great bike...But, you know what? I'm gonna give her life again... Besides, that's my job...Thanks for the answer...
4 months? That's it? Sweet restoration. I'm still struggling with the mess the previous owner left for my bike. Not having the right tools makes things difficult.
I find that if I work on mine every day, I get a lot closer to finishing too. You must know the bike through and through now. Did you change the throttle cables? I am trying to find out how to just move the throttle bodies to get the open throttle cable on. How did you get all the Napa know-how?? I'd love to learn more, it's getting easier as I read more and start doing things though. About to change out my brake fluid and bleed the line.
Picked up a mint condition 02 in 2010 and now it's going for almost twice as much with 50k plus miles (mine only has 35k and still own it with just a little bit of gravel rash). They are rare indeed today. To many guys tricked them out until destruction....
Iv'e never done it myself but I'm sure you would get better performance. It' comes down to how long do you want the valves to last. You run it lean you can make much more power but the valves will eventually fail from heat (exhaust valves specifically.). If you got the time and money to have it worked on tune it out to the max. Only way your going to compete with modern liter bikes for sure. I say just enjoy it on mild and buy a newer bike without blowing the head out of it myself. Just my opinion.... If you got the the money and inclination, just do it....
Never used a Bazzaz. Power Commander would let me map my entire fuel injector pressure through the entire throttle range though manually if I wanted even....

Got an 02 with 35k on it. Had it about 10 years now. No where need restoration, she still looks and handles clean.

i’m working on rebuilding a 929 doing oil pump and clutch any advice i noticed a little scratch on cylinder 3 not deep would new rings fix that

Did u flash the ecu or just put on a power commander
Power commanded mind with just a mild tune. Never ran the lean tune setting once, never felt the need for it. Had it over 10 years now.
