One of the greatest things about learning stuff from people rather than textbooks is that people with experience have insights that go beyond whats on the page, and they tend to give you more information faster than you would get reading one chapter at a time. So please do more vids this way. Cheers about the name compliment, btw. :D
Thanks for the video, the instruction book is small and it hard to see all the buttons because in the book the pictures aren't sharp and contrasting to be able to see which button to switch. At first I wondered why anyone would take the time to go through all these instructions to get the flight sim airplane in the air, and trust me on this it takes hours, but now that I'm retired with plenty of time I find it fascinating to see what real pilots who flew this plane had to do and know to fly this plane. Amazing. And now that I have several hundred hours flying this thing, it's getting easier, plus I have saved each phase several different ways for easy repeats.
Arull Murugan S yes however he knows how to fly manly planes that only men know how fly on sims that men know how to fly in, while the kids fly in x-plane 11 with their a320s
@@TheSaint0358 What you'll actually find is that the kids cry about different sims and still think that bashing one or the other is cool. The men are those that understand there are positives to both and even use both sides.
TheSaint03 I will getting the Concorde addon being developed for the new flight simulator, hoping it’s as in-depth as the ConcordeX so I can really master it. Getting bored of all the A320s and 747s etc
Fantastic, Truly remarkable. I can't help to hope that if I'm in a plane that suddenly has the pilot, co pilot and engineer incapacitated that you are present in such a situation!!!
The Concorde Fanatic Channel Are you asking about 3 2 1 Now or 3 2 1 Noise ? the Noise callout is the flight engineer. You need to start the countdown timer to get the callout.
Than you very much for an amount of work that hardly can be underestimated. I myself was trained as an ALTP pilot in the 60's and due to one of the recurring periods of oversupply of pilots had to switch to the military and flew light aircraft and helicopters for about five years before saying goodbye to a pilot';s career thereafter in favour of developing computers systems. Since then I have been keeping up my flying skills using Microsoft's flight simulators, which imho are the best invention since Link trainers ; ) . Your video has brought back to me the sense of civil flying in a most accurate and sympathetic way. Thank you again.
I think flying the space shuttle was easier to fly than this behemoth I want to buy this but I know that I try to fly it but I'll just frustrated and go back to fly by wire and digital flight displays great video by the way ;)
You keep mentioning bank (and other) angles in percentage. Angles are always specified in degrees, NOT percentage. The reason for the third INS is simple. If you ever have a temporary problem with an INS (or most of the high frequency based nav units), if you only have two INS units, you (may) have no way to determine which unit is correct. That's why there are three INS units. Out over the ocean, or in Africa, you spend hours and hours out of range of a VOR. Many many times I've seen aircraft with one or two hf nav units have a burp, and now don't really have a know position. Several times I've been flying a DC-3, which was GPS equipped, and had to meet up with a C-130 to give them a known position so they could reset their nav units. The third INS may not be hooked up to the other INS units, but it is there for a reference in the event of an INS burp. (Technical term). There is also a major glitch in the simulator programming, in that you typically need to call as many as four different controllers prior to talking to the tower. You need to listen to the ATIS, then call for your departure clearance, then call another controller to get your expect start engines time, then call ground after you start, then tower at or approaching the hold short line.
Tom, good comments. You are correct I kept saying % rather than angle, not sure why!!! The 3 INS units are simulated in Concorde to provide the triple positioning as you mention. As it is a sim with no "burps" you only need to use two of them. Finally, as for the controllers on Vatsim, there are varying levels of service provided depending on the number of controllers available. At large events we have all positions manned and voice ATIS available. I think text atis was used in this case. When there are not enough controllers online there is top down service provided depending on workload.
I've just stumbled upon this video and I wasn't able to stop watching it :) It's just so great. This plane and it's pilotage never stops fascinating me. Nowadays we all fly by some magenta lines and it doesn't seem hard, but when I see, what they were able to do even so many years ago... I really need to get more into this plane in sim, even it's so hard and different from todays stuff. Thanks again!
+- Porscheeky - Think of FSX, FSX-SE or P3D as a base platform for aircraft and scenery. Many flight sim enthusiats spend thousands of dollars on various addons. Concorde is cheap compared to some...the PMDG 777 for P3D is USD 130. Orbx global sceneries can set you back $200 for the base pack. It goes on and on.
- Porscheeky - It's expensive yes, but it's like in real life man, you pay for quality ! And since this a hobby i like so much, i rather pay for a good quality addon, that i know will pay me back in fun.
This was actually very interesting. I didn't knew to much about the concorde. So this video gave me an idea how complex this aircraft actually was. The takeoff was crazy. 200kt for a VR and still only barely climbing :-D Thank you!
Great Video! I was very fortunate to fly Concorde on this same route KJFK-EGLL (Sep 2003), including taking off from the same runway at JFK (31L) and same climb out. Very cool to compare the live video I took from Seat 7A during the take-off with the vision from the flight sim out the pilots left window over the bay etc. as you bank left. Awesome memories relived! - Thanks.
Mate you literally red my mind, I've just finished my first full setup of the plain. So just to try it out for a full take off, I stuck my Oculas Rift on, it's definitely the closest ill ever get to flying the real thing. Well worth flying this in VR.
Absolutely amazing video. Seeing Concorde do the 31L Canarsie departure was probably my favorite thing in aviation! Really appreciate the effort you put into this, definitely a fave!
60,000 to 65,000 depending on weight and stuff...eh. sure is an engineering feat, wish they could bring it back in the 2020s to 2040s but significantly quieter and more like a B787-9 cabin (3-3-3) instead of a A320 cabin(2-2)
1.5 hrs later I didn't lose interest once. I have no idea about half the stuff I just watched Jusy can appreciate the steps and complexity. Holy crap! Great job
Concorde's flight deck is pretty complex... too many buttons and switches. If I were to redesign the Concorde, I would simplify the cockpit to resemble that of a modern aircraft, having many systems be automated such as the fuel balancing and mixture, the mach transition, and the noise abatement. Up-to-date displays would be featured, again resembling those found on 2000s-era Boeing or Airbus jets. I would also add a feature whereby the aircraft can automatically tune specific navaids in range of the flight path to help realign the IRS systems. Finally, I would make the aircraft out of a composite material, improve the engines, and add retractable wing extensions (in place of slats and flaps) to reduce the takeoff and landing speeds.
Indeed. Concorde was as much an icon as the 747 continues to be. I would like to see the concept of supersonic passenger flight revisited by manufacturers and engineers. LHR-JFK in 3 hours is worth continued pursuit.
Christopher Crosby Great story. I have actually watched a video of the D check on a 747 that was done at Cardiff....and of course I have flown on FSX all of the farewell flights including the flight to Cardiff.
I sat through the whole video! finally it is over! This was such a long video! 3.5 hour flight is crazy to think of doing, but my friend did a 747 flight from Chicago to Moscow, with 3 refuels at New York, London, and a very short, small one somewhere in Iran. He had 2 1st officers, he was the only captain, and he had 1 navigation officer, just to help out a bit. All together in his flight it took him 4 hours to plan and calculate, 21 hours to fly(with refuels). 25 hour flight in one sitting!
*gets in car.. inserts key, car starts up*. *gets in Concorde...* "ah shit!" I just somehow got this late bug to watch flight sims etc. Way too many controls. Much respect to you, other enthusiasts and pilots.
Hi, yeah I'm late to the party, but I've just finished watching your video all the way through and in one sitting. I have to say it was so very enjoyable and your descriptions of what you were doing were so interesting and well put across............Congratulations on seeming to get well aquainted with an extremely complex icon. All the best Dave.
@@UPS1000 I'm still flying in FSX due to a lack of sufficient computing power for anything newer. It works good enough for me. if your interested in Concorde stuff, I just finished reading a book called surprisingly "Concorde" written by Mike Bannister, the British Airways Chief Concorde Pilot..............It's a brilliant read on the plane from a pilots point of view. You might have read it already I guess............Thanks for your reply, all the best Dave.
This was great! I usually can never get through a video without skipping many times. I mean it when I say I watching this in its entirety without skipping. Thank you for all of the hard work you put into this video. Amazing.
Amy Ann honestly if you have a really really good computer I would recommend X-Plane 11. It’s super beautiful and realistic but it’s very FPS intensive, but if not then FSX, which is also really good. I’ve played both
@@captainshipman7377 Thanks for the reply. I've been torn between X-plane and Microsoft FSX. I'd need to upgrade my computer a bit so it doesn't run like MS-DOS while playing.
Amy Ann haha yeah, I’ve only been able to play xplane on special gaming PC’s, haven’t had much luck on others. Anyway feel free to shoot me an email taninshipman@gmail.com
Good god UPS1000. I thank you for this tutorial and i shall follow it with no joy at all i am sure! That must be the most stringent pre-flight i have ever seen. I have so much to learn.Wilco.
Even though its long but the video contains info that will keep you watching all the way till the end. I did and like you said this video just shows how complicated it is to fly this aircraft. Really enjoyed it and the way you presented it made it even more interesting to watch. Great job!
wow what a lot of work for one person !!! good thing there are a whole crew with them but very nice work on your part!!Very informative i enjoyed all the work you put into it!!!!!
One of the most in depth Flight Sim videos to date, and its in one of the most complex aircraft to fly. Awesome job! Very professional. My guess is you could have easily been a flight engineer for one of these without any realworld training, and a Captain or Co-Pilot with just a little training!
Sir,you have my respect.I watched the entire video and was very interesting!Like so many people already said it to you,yes you should have been already a pilot.Thank you for this nice video and greetings from Romania , Vlad.
A good and affordable middleground I just recently experienced in depth is a GTX 660. The overclocked versions (there are more than I think there should be) are what I went with and for what I paid, I am astounded. I truly didn't expect it to be as capable as it is. And capable feels like a drastic understatement.
This is a GREAT video I remember flying the SSTSIM Concorde... I loved that plane-I'm so ready to go back to FSX with a new computer that won't give me virtual memory errors when I fly
This is really great. I wish that someday I can Fly this after my studies, even as a 2nd officer, cause this beautiful speed lady was just very fantastic.
Subscribed. Your flying was wonderful and the way you showed us how complex the aircraft is to fly is amazing. True simulation. Hope to see you do even more flight videos. I had no idea how complicated the Concord was until i saw this and did more research myself. For future pilot's sake i hope the next Concord will be much simpler to fly.
I picked up everything i need to fly this Concorde X perfectly in about 4-5 days of reading and trying (which i think is fun). a few weeks later with playing an hour now and then and i hand flew it rather good too. A little fact just, it takes 12-18months to become a commercial pilot through flight schools (non stop training and studying) and on top of that about 3weeks to get your type-rating. Sources: I'm there myself in half a year.
This is a great video you have produced well done...i will use it for reference....love the bit on take-off from JFK when you hear Captain Mike Bansiter making the call outs....Once again well done
Impressive job, with all this new technology nowadays it looks so difficult to navigate the flight around and you still made it well. I do doubt the part where you said that you are not a licensed pilot, caz you should be having this amazing knowladge, Thumbs up, Cheers! :)
Fantastic Video...U have done Concorde proud!..watched from start to finish. U really know your stuff buddy as concorde was the one of, if the most technically demanding aircraft to fly. I bow my head in admiration...cheers!
I understand it takes a lot of time to do these videos. Again I really enjoyed watching this video and I am amazed how you manage to fly this fantastic aircraft. I consider myself as a hardcore simmer. Huge fan of the 747 and soon the 777 from PMDG. Flying all procedures and following checklists. But I. Never managed to fly as great as you did this great Concorde from FSL. Again great job !
Just found your video. An excellent, detailed flight! I flew the FS 2004 Concord and was considering this FSX version. With a view on the guys at MCE doing a 1st officer for the sim, which would help with the checklists and flows workloads! Very well flown, nice to see the old INS systems instead of the FMC's, thanks again!
FL90 = 9000 ft. FL900 = 90,000 ft. Transition altitude in the UK is between 3,000 ft and 6000 ft, so the lowest flight level assigned by ATC is typically FL40.
Love this video, reminds me of a vatsim flight I did a while back with 2 friends, we flew 3 concordes from KMCO-KDEN for an event in denver, The arrival was chaotic to say the least. Controllers were abit surprised haha!
Great video love the concorde remember seeing three concords traveling past the river thames shortly before they were being grounded I was driving my foden truck along the embankment so I pulled over to get a good look :))
Great detailed video. Watched the lot, thanks. I was lucky enough to fly in the real Concorde back in the 1980s. Fantastic! You sound a bit like Paul Gambaccini, who is a US born British radio presenter on BBC radio.
An excellent video tutorial & demonstration. Very well done. Out of interest, i live in the Heathrow & have on some DV tape somewhere the final landing at Heathrow in 2003 where three Concordes' come in to land concurrently. A unique and sad sight. - I shall have to get the video encoded & uploaded.
Good lord. Comparatively, Airbus checklist:
1). Get in plane.
2). Remember to close plane door.

Almost everyone on vatsim are the same.
Matthew McColl your right
TheSaint03 I will getting the Concorde addon being developed for the new flight simulator, hoping it’s as in-depth as the ConcordeX so I can really master it. Getting bored of all the A320s and 747s etc
Fantastic, Truly remarkable. I can't help to hope that if I'm in a plane that suddenly has the pilot, co pilot and engineer incapacitated that you are present in such a situation!!!
Its my voice, just yell it out dude ?
The Concorde Fanatic Channel
Yes the Captain makes the callout.....and you are the captain in the ConcordeX sim.
The Concorde Fanatic Channel
Are you asking about 3 2 1 Now or 3 2 1 Noise ? the Noise callout is the flight engineer. You need to start the countdown timer to get the callout.
dude awesome video but could you make one explaining the different hydraulic systems on board Concorde
is that paco bell cannon at the start?
fsxpilot02
Yes, link in the notes.
Thank you again.
thanks for your kind comments.
I think flying the space shuttle was easier to fly than this behemoth I want to buy this but I know that I try to fly it but I'll just frustrated and go back to fly by wire and digital flight displays great video by the way ;)
+Major Moore I was the same way but I stuck with it and the rewards are amazing
An excellent presentation of Concorde in FSX, and with Vatsim. At times I thought I was watching the ITVV Concorde DVD
Thanks mate!

I would love to buy the concorde, but it seems that you need so many time and knowlegde just to takeoff
PS: Amazing video will you do more ?
+Shevchenkocss A free version is out as well, just as good as this with a walkable cabin :)
- Porscheeky - Well i bought this one, turns out it's not that hard once you get used to it !! But thanks !
Shevchenkocss Awesome! However I find it a bit weird that the add on is more expensive than the actual game, so I'll try sticking to freeware
200kt for a VR and still only barely climbing :-D
Thank you!
Took a while for those panel lights! lol
Rebphoenix Yeah, only turn on once the engine is running.
- Thanks.
Nice! Unfortunately I never got the chance.
Imagine doing this in VR with the HTC vive
you know, you have a point. it would be more simulator-like.
Mate you literally red my mind, I've just finished my first full setup of the plain. So just to try it out for a full take off, I stuck my Oculas Rift on, it's definitely the closest ill ever get to flying the real thing. Well worth flying this in VR.
You can do this using FlyInside, but it doesn't run very good. I'll have to try now that Asynchronous Time Warp is available for the Vive.
Absolutely amazing video. Seeing Concorde do the 31L Canarsie departure was probably my favorite thing in aviation! Really appreciate the effort you put into this, definitely a fave!
To think, it flew at twice the speed of sound at 60 000 ft and IT DID NOT HAVE A GLASS COCKPIT!!!
1970 tech man! Btw 65,000 ft.
60,000 to 65,000 depending on weight and stuff...eh. sure is an engineering feat, wish they could bring it back in the 2020s to 2040s but significantly quieter and more like a B787-9 cabin (3-3-3) instead of a A320 cabin(2-2)
The Concorde's technical service ceiling was 65,000, however, Air France and British Airways were not authorized to fly it above 60,000 ft.
Yes that is what they would do if they built a new supersonic jet today. This is 1960's technology at its finest.
Nah, she's perfect the way she is for all her 'faults'.
Indeed. Concorde was as much an icon as the 747 continues to be. I would like to see the concept of supersonic passenger flight revisited by manufacturers and engineers. LHR-JFK in 3 hours is worth continued pursuit.
Christopher Crosby
You were very lucky to see her on the farewell tour, must have been a great sight.
Fantastic video! Thank you so much. I sent this to my buddy; he flies a 747-400 Cargo jet all over the planet.
Great! Congratulations for taking the time to make this video. It gives those of us wanting to get this model an idea of what to expect.
*gets in car.. inserts key, car starts up*. *gets in Concorde...* "ah shit!" I just somehow got this late bug to watch flight sims etc. Way too many controls. Much respect to you, other enthusiasts and pilots.
Btw, watched the whole thing - it was fascinating and informative. Great vid.
Hang tight, FS Labs is making a Concorde for P3D and for MSFS.
Amazing.
Amy Ann Woww. You seem a lot like me. You like thunderstorms. And aviation. 😍😍 You play flight simulator?
@@captainshipman7377 I've really wanted to so it's my next purchase! I can't wait. Which one do you recommend?
Saw the whole video and it is just awesome, very comprehensive and informative but not in any-ways boring, can't wait to see your next video!!
Nice vid! Watched all 1 hour and 39 minutes of it! Appreciate all the effort put into making it.
Great video still helped me when I was just 15 learning the Concorde and its helping again at 24 in v5 of p3d amazing video
flying the Concorde X on VATSIM without VFE...probably the most difficult challenge to master in FSX...congrats.
PMDG planes are childs play when compared with this beastie, impressive knowledge and the skill of managing this burning brothel :)
That was very good. I have no idea that the concord was that involved. I just love the sounds of those big engines. Once again I enjoyed it.
One of the best FSX Videos i have seen from concorde you should be proud of yourself, Excellent video :)
Mad how you have the skills to do all this. I wouldn't know a single thing other than the rudder controls and pitching, lol
A good and affordable middleground I just recently experienced in depth is a GTX 660. The overclocked versions (there are more than I think there should be) are what I went with and for what I paid, I am astounded. I truly didn't expect it to be as capable as it is. And capable feels like a drastic understatement.
ahhh miss the good old days of the young me standing in my nans back garden seeing the concord fly. nice vid :)
I just want to Thank you for the time and effort you have put in to make this video it sure did help. Thank x again
+Arthur Haritoonians Thanks!
This is a great video you have produced well done...i will use it for reference....love the bit on take-off from JFK when you hear Captain Mike Bansiter making the call outs....Once again well done
damn, that intro brought tears to my eyes, not gonna lie
Impressive job, with all this new technology nowadays it looks so difficult to navigate the flight around and you still made it well. I do doubt the part where you said that you are not a licensed pilot, caz you should be having this amazing knowladge, Thumbs up, Cheers! :)
This is just the greatest TH-cam video I have ever watched. Thanks for making this :D
Fantastic Video...U have done Concorde proud!..watched from start to finish. U really know your stuff buddy as concorde was the one of, if the most technically demanding aircraft to fly. I bow my head in admiration...cheers!
Im even come back to that video for the xplane 12 concorde. Again: very well done.thank you 👍
I'm sure it will be appreciated by many.. I'm looking forward to it already!
WOW! Thanks for all the work you put into this video... It's Awesome. I know how hard it is to make a quality tutorial video.
thank you so much for takeing the time to do this
A couple of extremely minor errors here and there but overall one of the best co concorde x videos on youtube
Great video, man! Certainly the most beautiful plane ever built.
really a nice video and great editing. it shows the concorde in the light it should be. :) Oh and... it was not boring at all. great job. thank you
FL90 = 9000 ft. FL900 = 90,000 ft. Transition altitude in the UK is between 3,000 ft and 6000 ft, so the lowest flight level assigned by ATC is typically FL40.
Real attention to detail, nice job man.
Very interesting.
Enjoyed your presentations which do justice to the concept of hi-fidelity simulations...👍👍
Astonishing. Absolutely astonishing. I'd watch it again if it wasn't such a long video.
Love this video, reminds me of a vatsim flight I did a while back with 2 friends, we flew 3 concordes from KMCO-KDEN for an event in denver, The arrival was chaotic to say the least. Controllers were abit surprised haha!
Great way to spend a lunch hour! Excellent job! Dr Mike
I don't understand a single thing you're saying, but this is pretty cool.
