I own this, best chair I have owned hands down. Doesn't even come close to a "gaming chair" you spend 200-500 on. This is in another league. 1500 price tag is big deal. I spend 80% of my time in a chair like this now that i work from home, so it was time I spent the money where it counted. My back pain is 100% gone. I get some neck pain but thats a monitor location issue im working on. If i didn't sit in it 80% of the day, i would have gone with a cheaper model i think, but so far well worth the money.
Considering buying one as well, do you have the noise issue seen at 4:57? It seems a lot of reviews I've seen make no mention of all this creaking, and I haven't heard it in the background of any hands on videos, but that sound would drive me insane as someone who exclusively uses open back headphones.
@@A_Gris Top part does make a sound. I use open back headphones too and don't notice it but my chair is setup pretty stiff. Even with headphones off I don't notice it much. I have 2 kids though, so sounds that bother me have changed lol The sound is not as loud as in this video. It's like a stretching sound...it's a sound you would expect from the movement your doing.
@@bigrgIIb I just received mine last week, and maybe I'm not sitting up straight enough but even if I sit up as straight as I could imagine myself getting without bending into an uncomfortable position, I can not get an entire arm behind myself like he could, and I do still feel like the back of the chair is making full contact. This is of course going to vary person to person though as the curve itself of the Embody isn't adjustable. I think this is definitely an area where it's going to be subjective, and you may want to look for an authorized dealer near you to see if they have a floor model you could sit in to try the chair. Otherwise you can always order the chair and return it within 30 days if you find it uncomfortable for you. For me personally this is a massive upgrade from my last chair and I'm pretty in love with it. My only other thing to note is I'm not sure if Mike's chair is a particularly bad example, but while the squeaking for deal breaker 2 in this video does exist on all of these chairs due to the upholstery rubbing against the foam support, I find that it is not as loud as demonstrated for mine. This could just be an issue with the audio mixing and the recorded audio of the squeaking being louder than it needs to be, but I find that I don't really notice it unless I'm making very large, exaggerated positional changes. The sound is more or less non-existent in normal operation.
@@bigrgIIb You can adjust it so the back pushes you pretty far forward. I have mine really stiff. Now there is a slight minor rock back that is probably what they are talking about with sitting straight. It is not enough to be an issue though.
what you absolutely have to say about it, you have to give the chair some time. the chair forces you into a healthy sitting position and you don't slouch in it. i noticed that i had some back muscle pain after sitting for 8 hours, but that was only because i didn't sit healthy earlier. after about two weeks it gets better and you can sit pain free for 10-12 hours. so absolutely good the chair
I was fortunate to get to use this chair extensively at the office for a while and I ended up buying one at home. For my physiology and how i like to sit, it is truly a match made in heaven. I fell in love on first contact and it seems that im always comfortable on it regardless of the adjustment... I have never, ever, sat on a chair that came even remotely close to the level or comfort that the embody gives me. Chairs are very personal but for me it was a no brainer even given the higher price... For reference I am 6’3 / 250lbs...
Awesome comment dude ! Thanks a lot i am 6.3" aswell and its so hard to find matching reviews. Do you still enjoy the chair? Any problems ? i will probably purchase mine soon while the sale is going on. Do you have the normal version or gaming version? Thanks a lot!
The Herman Miller Embody chair is a life saver if you have neck, back, and/or tailbone pain. Buy the original if squeaking bothers you. I think it's the padding Logitech added. My original, non-Logitech version doesn't have this padding (just fabric and the stretchy plastic mesh), and it makes no noise. You'd think, "how could no padding/plastic _possibly_ be comfortable?" ...but lemme tell ya, it's fantastic! I'm super picky, and before this chair, everything hurt after sitting in front of a computer 8+ hours a day. Since I've had the Embody, no pain. One thing Mike points out--and this is so true--you shouldn't try to sit perfectly perpendicular. If you want that, you should avoid this chair. It's meant to lean back in, at least a little. I keep the recline depth at 3 (out of the 4 stops it allows). Also, you _really_ need to push your butt/lower back ALL THE WAY BACK so it's touching the back of the seat so it can support you. If I don't, I get crazy burning in my lower back after 30-45 minutes, but that's mostly MY back and poor posture, not the chair's fault. If you do all that, and you're a lean back/sloucher like me, dear God this chair is comfortable. I've been in IT for 20+ years and have tried every fancy, schmancy office chair you can imagine. The Aeron? Pfft! I know some people love it, but I can't stand it. The Aeron seat has a bar just behind the knees, and it HURTS after 1-2 hours, something you might not notice after only sitting for a few minutes in the store. The Embody? It's like sitting on a cloud all day.
@@frederickthethird5302 At first I had my mind set on one of their fancy fabrics, but I settled for the Rhythm--which has held up great; *no* complaints here. However, the kind lady at the Herman Miller reseller (who, BTW, mostly sold commercial office furniture in bulk to businesses, but didn't have a problem selling to individuals) told me that they have "pre-configured" models of popular Embody chairs that they can sale for **much** cheaper. They can usually customize the basic *color* of the fabric and frame, but if you want fancy fabrics, colors you might not find if offices, or other options... well, they're gonna charge you full price of $1500, plus your "upgrades." The base model was Good Enough for me and only cost me ~$950 (including tax). This was 4-5 years ago, but their current pricing on the website looks exactly the same.
Well, I have had the 2008 version since it was first released. I am a 68 year old weightlifter/lawyer. This chair is the best thing I have ever used to help my back. I don’t know why, but regardless of how much my back is bothering me (I have had two back surgeries), this chair is my oasis. I spend a lot of time in this chair and would fight anyone who tried to take it away. My two cents.
Thank you for making this video! I’ve watched about as many videos as I could find about the Embody but very few people seem to comment on sitting up really straight like you do - which is also how I like to sit. This video definitely makes me feel better about ruling out this chair because of it.
You're very welcome man! I had the same problem I watched a TON of videos about this chair too and still couldn't understand what it's essence was. So I'm glad to be able to tell you guys these things! :)
That's the thing about mesh fabric - and that's why I ALWAYS prefer it in any product as possible (chair, shoes, etc) - It's easier to maintain, it doesn't wear off easily, it's very convenient, and if well-taken care of, it's technically immortal. Unlike the fake "premium" leatherette that you always see in any other gaming chair.
I own them both too. I do best when I alternate a few days a week. They’re the most amazing ergo chairs ever (!) but both have pros/cons for my neck/back pain if I sit for a long day. All of which is super unhelpful for shoppers trying to decide. 😆Sorry! Edit: I should add I have the regular Embody and am debating what to get for a new chair at home. Curious about the copper and cushioning in the Logitech edition. You save $100-$200 for similar specs vs non gaming version, which is good FOR $$$$ Herman Miller chairs anyway.
Love the video! You hit a lot of great points :). For my two cents, I had the Aeron classic and remastered, the Leap V2, the Ergo Chair 2, a secret lab chair, and presently I am using the Logitech Embody. Long story short, the price is WAAAAY up there, if you really want it, you MIGHT get lucky with a sale in the future where it was brought down to $1,100 (Still a yikes!). I kept this chair because all the other chairs ended up hurting my back - I would get aches throughout the day (I sit 9hours for work and then game and watch videos for another 6 hours everyday). I ended up keeping this chair because my back pains are no more with it! The aeron remastered was great for those who are deciding between the two - but absolutely take advantage of the 30 day return period - the aeron began hurting my back week 2 and by week 3, I just had a ton of aches no matter how I adjusted it. You can also ask for a lower gas cylinder for the aeron if you need that - it lowers the chair 1.75in in case you need a lower chair!
Well said! I don't think the logitech embody goes on sale though (but they do give you a g502 wireless mouse)...I asked them and only the other HM "gaming" chairs go on sale xD Did you get it on sale??
The slouching issue is not due to the chair, it is due to his monitor height being too low. Footstool also looks to be positioned incorrectly. Wearing the most expensive football boots will not make you play like Ronaldo or Messi, nor will the most expensive chair automatically give you perfect posture. Its just a tool to help you achieve it, but you still need to know how to use it.
I bought my Embody 1 week ago and I hear nothing, no squeaking. The model was updated a while ago Also the seat is very very comfortable, it’s not soft, nor is it hard, I really love it . The backrest is something I still need to get used to. I vary the position every day and I have the feeling my back is slowing adjusting to it. I can work upright and it’s nice, but there’s the gap you mentioned on middle part of the back. But still it works fine, but after a while I use another setting :-) I‘ve gone through all chairs before buying this one. The Aeron is a no because it doesn’t allow freedom of movement. The leap and gesture are more like foam chairs that might be comfortable, but I like that woven plastic concept, it just feels right. Also Steelcase doesn’t offer 12 years of warranty. But maybe I just buy the other chairs as well, so I have one for gaming, one for working and one for the balcony😂
Wow this was one video about this chair that actually MENTIONED the noise issue. Awesome overview of this fancy chair. I've been eyeing it and considering to purchase it, but I can't in good mind spend that type of money for a chair that's still all plastic. I understand its ergonomic but I feel that there's better options out there far less expensive. Yet no chair looks that damn cool, that I'll say. But cool doesn't cover $1,500.
I am able to sit up straight without me having to slouch and the noise isn’t apparent unless I lean back really far when I have the chair locked at any settings. I have not found any cons with this chair except for the price.
I highly recommend everyone to go try out these chairs before buying! I found a place nearby so I went to try out the embody and the Aeron. To my disappointment the embody felt terrible on my back and the aeron wasn’t as amazing as some people say. But what I did find was the Mirra 2 which felt amazing. I like the mirra 2’s back support because you can adjust the height and tension. This allowed for better mid back support which is where most of my pain is at. I also prefer the stiffer feel of the chair because it feels like it keeps my posture correct.
Amen brother, after testing out all 3 of those chairs I got myself Mirra2. Not only is it the cheapest one but I feel like it gives the most supprt for my back while also mainting the premium feel!
The Aeron's down fall is you can't spread your legs, the Embody's failure is it's inability to scoot the arms back (so you can't scoot into your desk tight) and less, the shoulder does dip inwards and could potentially cause shoulder pain (it's nice if you lean back, but not for upright).
apparently this issue is only for the Logitech version. I had this same issue - and I am exchanging it for the normal embody. Some post on reddit said this solved the problem. The seat on the normal Embody is much softer
I will note that I just got the embody and sat in it for a month. I can't get a proper 90 degree support for my back while on the computer... I am returning it.. the areon is much better.
@@heavenglory16 Normal embody also doesn't make that squeaking noise. And is cheaper. And more available (the Logitech one isn't available in Israel at all). I tried the Aeron, but it felt like the seat was too much "forward tilted" which I found not nearly as comfortable.
I bought it anyway, and I like it. Thanks for the unique perspective though. My experience so far. The lumbar is fine for average height. Mine doesn't squeak at all. I can't remember your third dealbreaker.
Agree! Missing the ability to seat upright is really a big mistake! The regular Embody seat is also not very comfortable to me. I ended up return it... I really like the back support in the recline position though.
Thanks for pointing out the difficulty sitting up straight. This is a problem I have been facing with a lot of ergo chairs. It's like it's trying to force you into a bad posture, so not really ergonomic after all lol
Sitting at about 110° is healthier for the spinal cord, especially to reduce pressure on its discs, than sighting at a 90° angle. There's research that supports this that's already more than five decades old. You can look it up and confirm this, of course. And it's recommended that you use a slightly tilted footrest with such a sitting posture. I hasten to add that this does NOT mean that if you have a wooden chair with a back that's fixed at a 90° angle, then you should slide forward to recline; this would be worse than sitting at a 90° angle. And slouching forward is much worse than sitting at a 90° angle.
"If you have tailbone pain" - man you saved me $1500. Absolutely my biggest issue. Have you reviewed any other chairs that were supreme in tailbone comfort?
I have severe nearve damage in the base of my spine. I have both editions, normal and logitech Embody, both offer extreme comfort. It would be better if he fully understood how to use all the options on the chair before doing a review. This chair sells because it is in a league of its own. Only Aeron comes close.
If you learm how to use your chair you can sit up straight and have support. Make sure you have the back lock on, then there is a handle the other side that you turn anti clockwise and that will mould the chair back into you back. The amount of people that cant use a chair is outstanding. Read the instructions, especially if you are doing a review.
Thanks for this. I tested it yesterday and although it looks great and was more comfortable than the Aeron to sit in, the lack of back adjustment (and the gap you mentioned) made me decide against it.
Give us a 5 and 10 year update now and see how the chair holds up compared to the other chairs you need to replace multiple times. That is why the cost can be justified.
Let me tell you my experience. I own a Humanscale Freedom Headrest chair for over 8 years. While the mechanic part of these expensive chairs will hold up over time, the seat cushioning simply doesn't. Yesterday, I've finally replaced the cushioning (seat-, back- and headrest) and arm pads of my chair. The foam in the seat was becoming to soft. So much to the point that it wasn't comfortable anymore. Also the armpads were cracked. These were the standard Duron pads which are very stiff and over time the material becomes brittle and simply cracks. About getting replacement parts. Because nobody thinks about that when buying an expensive chair and the reviews also never really get into that. But it is important to consider. For me living in Europe it was a long and expensive process to get my replacement parts. I also had to replace the back- and headrest because the original fabric wasn't available anymore, which is understandable after 8 years. But again, you don't think about that when buying this chair. All in all I wouldn't be to bummed about it if these companies provided an easy way to order these replacement parts online, but that is not the case. I've had to track down a sales manager from Humanscale Europe and after waiting and sending emails and waiting again, it eventually took them several months before finally yesterday my replacement parts were delivered. Why is it that you can't find any reviews of these chairs after 5+ years of usage... Now, I know why. To be honest, I love my Humanscale chair. It is a good chair. But after going through all this hassle I don't think I'm going to do it again in 8 years... Hopefully by then they've joined present times and have a decent online shop ;)
Yep, I decided to buy a big-boy ergo chair when I realized that I was buying a new $150-200 office chair every couple of years as they broke. For a similar price per year, why not get a better, more comfortable chair that is guaranteed to last? And if you can't afford the upfront cost, there are tons of used office furniture stores that will sell you old Steelcase or Herman Miller chairs for a few hundred dollars. Sure beats a no-name "gaming" chair.
Exactly. Made the mistake of buying a cheap 400 dollar race chair. Wasn’t comfy and the wheels broke and fell off after 6 months of light use. That could have been 1/3 of the cost of this chair and I know it will last 12 years or they will fix it
Well Aeron Chair at 15 years old, is working Perfectly fine. I also have a 8 year old Embody, again never had a problem with it. It has a 12 year warrenty, so divide the price by its warrenty to compare to other chairs. If you pay $200 and the chair last a year, its cost you double that of an Embody. People keep saying its expensive, yet there happy to pay and replace their product every 1-2 years. That is so bad for the enviroment. A chair lasting 15 years is amazing, and to be fair its still going.
In regards to the downside of sitting though - I've tried sitting straight using ergo supports (lumbar backrest ones) and just sitting naturally (even if it's not straight) and honestly, sitting straight would never be possible UNLESS you really have trained yourself sitting straight for the longest time (those in the army would have a big advantage here). That kind of relaxed, natural sitting is way more comfy than really trying to sit straight all day.
People really shouldn't be sitting completely straight at all; you want to lean a little back so the back rest can support some weight. But the real problem is sitting in any one static position for too long, period. So a good chair should have a tilt with variable resistance so you can vary your back position while your posture remains ergonomically sound.
OMG you are the first person that does a review on any chair that I have seen, that actually wants to sit straight in a chair and not dump themselves in there like a bag of dirt. I thought I was going crazy finding all these highend chair uncomfortable.
I was in love with this chair. As a gamer, Logitech collap was awesome. Loved the blue and the skeleton look. That all changed when I went to try it out at Herman miller. I've 6'1 200 lbs. This chair was very uncomfortable. I did not think I'd be able to work 8hrs a day on it. The Aeron in type C was way more comfortable in my opinion. I suggest trying the chairs at their store before committing to anything. Especially considering the price tag
6:56 I don't care WHO YOU ARE IF THIS CHAIR FITS YOU AND IS COMFORTABLE, BUY IT. As I age I'm realizing the things that really matter in life are 1) your Bed and 2) your "Work Area", we literally spend 2/3rds of our LIFE SITTING OR SLEEPING! DON'T BE AFRAID TO SPEND "ALOT" CONSIDERING 2/3RDS OF YOUR LIFE IS SPENT LAYING DOWN OR SITTING!
Compared to the ShortCircuit review (which was absolutely worthless), this is like night and day. Nice work. Very informative and props to sitting cross-legged. I do that all the time. Thumbs.
I have both :) Best of both worlds. I agree, the Aeron is better for upright use. I rotate between the two because of that. Thanks for the video! Spot on.
I got the aeron but ended up returning it and getting the steelcase leap instead. The aeron has some nice pros like the seamless reclining feature and great armrest but some of the premium upgrade for the aeron was not work it. The sl posture back support actually didn't give me any back support at all and you have to pay extra to tilt the armrest inward. The steelcase leap has a great back support and. You can adjust the tension to your liking. The reclining of the leap is not as smooth as the aeron but it's still great
Also have to remember the fact they have a 12 year, 24 hour a day warranty on the chair, against literally everything. That alone, over the course of 12 years easily makes up half of the price, as with a secret labs for example, you will buy two in the same period equalling almost the same cost as this chair.. Good point to make against your last negative!
It's funny how a lot of ppl fail to pick up on it, Sahil is a example of someone who doesn't understand a long term investment. That brain dead dude only thinks cars are.🤦♀️
@@StardustLegacyFighter id much rather invest in my back. However i am a car dude too, but ive had my herman miller for probably 12 months or so now, and its one of the best purchases i ever made. No back ache, no leg ache, no getting restless just feels like sitting on a cloud and 12 year warranty more than makes up for the price to me.
Hi Mike, great info. Thanks for making this video! Very interesting comments about not being able to sit upright for work in the Embody. Super surprising that they wouldn't have built in a setting for exactly this purpose.
Wow really nicely done video, Mike! High production quality and I love that you even demonstrated how it feels to sit in it cross legged. Would definitely be interested in a comparison with the Aeron.
you need to look at the OM Truly. Poly Back Ergonomic Chair. It's a great chair, has tons of Ergonomic adjustments, Has tons of color and style options, Allows you too lean back or straight up, and the back of the chair comes up to should height so great for vids as well. the entire back portion is actually adjustable up and down too so you can make it as tall or short as you want.
This is an awesome review. That creak sound alone made me never consider this again. Surprised I’ve not heard about this on other TH-camrs. Subscribed.
Just bought one from a guy near me I found on Facebook Marketplace for $700 and it's immaculate. It's been pretty good so far, I have a back injury so I need a good chair.
after getting my embody this week, i quickly realize you dont want to use this chair in a straight position like most chairs. you atleast need to lean back one notch so the pad near the butt doesn't hit your spine, which it did for me. the shoulder area is also pushing you forward so its weird. however, once you're leaning back then it feels perfect, which is weird for me because i expected it to force me to sit straight
Thanks so much for pointing out that u wont be able to really sit straight in this. Its a mayor concern for me since sitting super straight is what gives me the least pain. Great review :)
The Herman Miller Mirra 2 is a very, very good chair, and costs a lot less than this last I checked (about 600 USD, depending on the options you choose with it). I actually think that the price to value ratio of the Mirra 2 is actually extremely high, and if this chair lives up to the quality and comfort I've experienced with my Mirra, then I would say that this chair probably actually IS a good value, even at 1500, at least relative to most other office/ gaming chairs out there. Chairs which cost like 200-400 bucks (or more) often still wear out within 5-10 years (if not less than that). Herman Miller chairs have a 12 year TRANSFERABLE warranty. That means the warranty is still good even if you buy one used (this also keeps the resale value high). That shows that they really stand by their products. Also, with Herman Miller chairs, you can get individual parts repaired or replaced even after the warranty is over, and this can allow the chair to last potentially for multiple decades. I've been using an original Mirra (which is basically less adjustable than the Mirra 2 but otherwise the same), for 4 years, and it was already about 9 years old when I first bought it. It is AMAZINGLY comfortable, and I find that I get significantly less back pain since I started using it, even though I'm only getting older, and if anything, you'd think that my back pain would be getting worse, not better. I'm a very tall guy, and I weigh about 220 lbs, and I practically live in this chair, so it's definitely a very durable product. That being said, it looks like I probably will need to be getting the seat resurfaced in a year or so, but it will be totally worth it. So, after the first 12 years, you will likely have to put more money into the chair periodically for repairs, but the overall cost per decade of use is probably lower than a lot of cheaper chairs, and you're still getting something which is far more comfortable, and better for your HEALTH. Once you factor in the health benefits, I think it's safe to say that this chair is actually going to save you more money than most other chairs out there. I assume that there are some other good quality chairs out there with good warranties, or at least which are not difficult to repair and maintain, but the Mirra (discontinued) and Mirra 2 by Herman Miller are, in my opinion, the best value per dollar chairs that money can buy, it's just a big investment up-front. This Embody X seems overpriced to me, because I don't know if there's much about it that's significantly better than a Mirra 2, however, I would still consider even this chair to be a good value compared to all the crap out there which usually isn't as comfortable / adjustable, doesn't have a significant warranty, doesn't look as cool, and which are, in many cases, next to impossible to actually repair properly when the parts start wearing out.
Thank you for this review, I've actually had my tailbone removed but still get pain, have you actually found one that doesn't hurt and you can sit in for a while?
4th Reason it's so expensive: It's considered "Designer" instead of just Ergonomic. I got the regular Aeron during the sale. $1075 vs $1475. Already got my Autonomous Smart Desk Premium thanks to your review/code from that. I don't think I'll try an Embody, let alone a "Gaming" version. The Steelcase Leap is my next option. Then I'm just working down in price until I find something I love.
Well said my dude! Designer stuff is often overpriced, but at least (most of the time) quality is above the rest xD Glad the desk vid helped ya out with that man :) and...that's a steal for the aeron!!
*twist violently back and forth while pushing entire body weight backwards on form fitting ergonomic back rest* Chair: *...whimpers* *swivels back around to face camera” “fucking thing squeaks..”
Dont use the armrests. Set the knobs to max for straight. I think its because you are too short. Your muscles adjust awkwardly which defeats the purpose of the seat to embody your back.
Excellent video. Look forward to the Aeron comparison video. Couldn't find any good ones online especially for gaming. Thank you so much. Keep up the excellent work with this channel.
My Boy Mike is back....B Roll was killer and I love the splash of blue matched with the chair on the white wall lighting. Oh yes...there is no way I could deal with that chair noise and lack of back of support. My only suggestion ( as if I'm qualified to give it)..save the talking head (conclusion) view for the last part of the video ONLY ..not mixed in the middle of the B roll talk over. It felt like I was taken out of the flow of the B roll talk over too much( just my two cents). Other than that...very informative and very professional.
Hey mario! glad you loved the b-roll, it's been a while since i've done that xD and great suggestion, this video was actually an experiment mixing the voice over and a-rolls...it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be but i've got a whole year to improve on it! Thanks for helping me improve my bro!
Which one for sitting up straight 8 hours/5 days a week? Also ... have you tried the X Chair 2? These high back chairs with headrests and massagers are tempting! Killer review!
"*1 month no wear and tear*" Incredible. i can no longer, in good conscious, address my concerns about build quality. You have assuaged them. If a chair holds up for one month it will hold up forever! Viva Mike Twat!
Great review. I am looking to buy a good chair, now that I will probably work 4 days out of the 5 at home. Also the time I spend gaming, I need a good chair. The reviews of "other " chairs breaking and falling apart......(I have had some of those) I rather just spend the money and get one that will last. My question is at 6'4 300 am I pushing this chair to the limit ?
I disagree on this being a luxury item As someone with severe back issues and sitting more then sleeping a good chair is a health investment. I know people spending 5000$ on a good bed if they need it. 1500$ is a lot, but I've had chairs for 300-500$ before that after 5 years are pretty much garbage, I've seen 20-year old aerons still be sold for 1/4 of their original price. Is it a lot of money? Yes, if you don't sit all day you don't need this chair, if you do you should consider it to either prevent back issues or to prevent further back issues.
People so often forget that these things come with a 12 Year all-inclusive warranty. Like, they are rated for 24/7 usage for over a decade. If anything happens to them from normal wear-and-tear they will pay for all shipping and repairs. You're literally guaranteed a perfectly working chair that wont destroy your body for 12 entire years, likely more. I came from a long line of basic cheapo chairs that definitely felt way past their age after only a year or two, and my most recent one I definitely felt it in my back, no matter how I tried to sit in it. All those chairs in the same exact time-frame added up to more than the cost of one of these high-end Ergonomic chairs easily. Dropped the money on a Leap from SteelCase (Very comparable company to HM, almost down the line) and it's literal Night-And-Day. No more pinched nerves or back pain after just a few days sitting in it. I also have never before encountered a chair that made almost no noise at all. I didn't think it was possible.
@@WC3fanatic997 The the warranty is 100% Real. I have bought a 2nd hand chair that failed and HM still honored the warranty. My brand new one 10 years later looks new still.
Hi Mike. Would you recommend the chair if you like to move around on it (dynamic sitting), stretch or sometimes sit on it with your knee bent? Can you also recommend the chair if you sit in front of the computer for 10-12 hours (I am a programmer and do a lot of music and video editing). As I have pain in my lower back and buttocks (feels like a sunburn on my ass 🙂), I am also wondering if it is possible to sit at an angle (e.g. 1-5° tilt) and adjust the seat depth. I would look forward to your feedback 😀
I watched a video about the sayl embody and aeron and the guy in the video said that the embody gives the most ‘freedom‘ idk how to say it but yeah ig you can sit how you want on it
I have the steelcase leap v2 it’s so comfortable and has so many adjustments. I almost bought the embody until I heard it squeak all the time and with me being conference calls all the time I knew I couldn’t do that.
@Neo Anderson of all the chairs out there it was rated as the most adjustable. I'm 5'5" and most chairs out there don't fit me that well, this one fits me like a glove. Embody was definitely one of my other top picks, but the creaking turned me off. Because I couldn't sit in one before buying, I just went with the chair that was overall highest rated. With Herman Miller chairs it was always highly rated in one area but a compromise in other areas, whereas the leap was highly rated in all areas but not as high in one specialty area like a a Herman Miller chair. Another reason I went with the leap is because how the Embody arms work are not nearly as adjustable as the steelcase leap v2. It's taken me about a week to get used to sitting in this chair, now that I've got it dialed in, I can sit in this chair for 8-12 hours in a day and I'm perfectly fine.
A lot of reviews are mentioning the squeaking. I have the chair for over a year and never heard any noises. Sure, it will make a sound if you move a lot and really force it, but for day-to-day shifting in your chair, it's practically silent.
Thanks Mike. Personally, I have an Embody and it has *always* given me a sore lower back - maybe for the reasons you mention! So I'm looking to replace it currently.
Mike, I am currently sitting in my Embody Logitech chair as I am typing this. First thing I want to ask you is did you have any tailbone pain when you sat in this chair? My biggest complaint with this chair is that I am getting tailbone pain from it. I am very very confused on why I am getting such pain when I sat in an Embody in a store and sat for an hour on it talking to the sales rep. I completely forgot that I was sitting on it and it felt amazing to sit in and even sat with one of my legs resting on the opposite knee. No pain at all. The gaming version however, gives me tailbone pain as stated. I am thinking about exchanging this gaming version to a regular Embody, the Aeron, or a Steelcase. Funnily enough, my back pain isn't a problem anymore but the tailbone pain is really confusing me when I sat in the regular Embody. Any thoughts on this?
Hey Mike, does your Embody base wobbles easily when the backrest tension is set to really loose? Mine wobbles a little bit when the backrest tension is loose. I don't know if that's normal or if it's something wrong with my chair?
I bought this chair around 3 days ago and I'm getting a seriously sore lowerback from it. I've tried adjusting it a ton of different ways, but it's just not comfortable. Any tips? I really want to like this chair.
What software setup are you using for your videos and casting? e: your dealbreaker 1 isn't really a deal breaker considering the chair design. The chair is supposed to hug you in that way and you aren't supposed to want to sit up perfectly straight. Also, I've heard mixed thoughts on the noises. I've heard the non-Logitech version has decreased noises and it depends on the fabric.
I like how you mentioned the sit straight point. Guess embody is not for me. 😢 I was so torn between fern, embody, and leap v2. Maybe Sayl as a potential dark horse outlier.

@@TheBohodiva I actually agree with you. Good buy. I'm considering one rn. I'm at the desk, according to my Mac about 8 to 10 hours too
I own this, best chair I have owned hands down.
Hey, Do you agree with Mike Wat that you cannot sit straight properly on it ? and that there is a lack of support when siting straight ?
I fell in love on first contact and it seems
that im always comfortable on it regardless of the adjustment... I have never, ever, sat on a chair that came even remotely close to the level or comfort that the embody gives me. Chairs are very personal but for me it was a no brainer even given the higher price... For reference I am 6’3 / 250lbs...
I’m lookin to buy this one I’m 6’2 around 240 and I’m gaming all after work all the time so just thought would be a better buy a chair
Well said Jason, thanks for the insight! Makes me feel a bit better about not getting the Aeron :)
@@MikeWat people who say aeron is better don't even have a herman miller
@jasonSfuller great insights, thanks.
Which fabric type is your embody? Balance?
@@frederickthethird5302 At first I had my mind set on one of their fancy fabrics, but I settled for the Rhythm--which has held up great; *no* complaints here. However, the kind lady at the Herman Miller reseller (who, BTW, mostly sold commercial office furniture in bulk to businesses, but didn't have a problem selling to individuals) told me that they have "pre-configured" models of popular Embody chairs that they can sale for **much** cheaper. They can usually customize the basic *color* of the fabric and frame, but if you want fancy fabrics, colors you might not find if offices, or other options... well, they're gonna charge you full price of $1500, plus your "upgrades."
The base model was Good Enough for me and only cost me ~$950 (including tax). This was 4-5 years ago, but their current pricing on the website looks exactly the same.
Well, I have had the 2008 version since it was first released. I am a 68 year old weightlifter/lawyer. This chair is the best thing I have ever used to help my back. Absolutely
I own them both. Aeron is better for me. I find I bottom out in the embody
Aeron > Embody
Best review comment ever. Thanks you
its on sale now :D
@@MikeWat
The slouching issue is not due to the chair, it is due to his monitor height being too low. Footstool also looks to be positioned incorrectly.
Wearing the most expensive football boots will not make you play like Ronaldo or Messi, nor will the most expensive chair automatically give you perfect posture. Its just a tool to help you achieve it, but you still need to know how to use it.
I bought my Embody 1 week ago and I hear nothing, no squeaking. The model was updated a while ago
Also the seat is very very comfortable, it’s not soft, nor is it hard, I really love it .
The backrest is something I still need to get used to. I vary the position every day and I have the feeling my back is slowing adjusting to it.
I can work upright and it’s nice, but there’s the gap you mentioned on middle part of the back. But still it works fine, but after a while I use another setting :-)
I‘ve gone through all chairs before buying this one.
Helpful, thanks!
Which one is a better option then?
Which one is a better option then??
I am able to sit up straight without me having to slouch and the noise isn’t apparent unless I lean back really far when I have the chair locked at any settings. I have not found any cons with this chair except for the price.
100% agree with this take
Thnks for mentioning sitting cross legged , I do it all the time on my ergo chair 2.
I also prefer the stiffer feel of the chair because it feels like it keeps my posture correct.
i will check the mirra out!! :)
heard good things about the mirra 2. and you are right, try these chairs in store! I had to do that with my new bed
Thanks for mentioning your tailbone pain, I experience the same issue and it's definitely a good reason to not buy this chair! :)
apparently this issue is only for the Logitech version.
@@heavenglory16 How did you return it? Did you buy it online or from store?

I bought it anyway, and I like it. Thanks for the unique perspective though.
My experience so far. The lumbar is fine for average height. Mine doesn't squeak at all. I can't remember your third dealbreaker.
Agree! Missing the ability to seat upright is really a big mistake! The regular Embody seat is also not very comfortable to me. I ended up return it... I really like the back support in the recline position though.
What else did u get after returning your Embody?
The anthros chair looks pretty cool. Pretty expensive though
I’m pretty sure sitting completely up straight 90, like the guy demonstrated is not great posture, hence HM going for the natural S shape.
@@jurgendaems2208 You can find people using 10 year old Aerons and Embodys all over the place.
I thought I was going crazy finding all these highend chair uncomfortable.
glad it was helpful my dude!

Also have to remember the fact they have a 12 year, 24 hour a day warranty on the chair, against literally everything. after getting my embody this week, i quickly realize you dont want to use this chair in a straight position like most chairs. you atleast need to lean back one notch so the pad near the butt doesn't hit your spine, which it did for me. the shoulder area is also pushing you forward so its weird. however, once you're leaning back then it feels perfect, which is weird for me because i expected it to force me to sit straight

Who asked
Warranty ARE NOT transferrable
I think you just saved me a lot of agro, as that back support gap would have been an issue for me :)
i have an aeron chair from herman miller since 2001 . worth .
Thank you for this review, I've actually had my tailbone removed but still get pain, have you actually found one that doesn't hurt and you can sit in for a while?
Best embody review and I've seen all of em. Good work man
4th Reason it's so expensive: It's considered "Designer" instead of just Ergonomic.
@@MikeWat i got the regular Embody for $1000
@@franky9166 thats a STEALL!!! congrats man!

Nice review. What computer case are you running? Or is that just some super cool external graphics card holder?
What would you recommend to someone that had tailbone pain due to sitting many hours without the chance to stand up quite so often
A good chair is the last part of my setup that is missing...and it's probably the hardest one to pick!
😂 when you can't feel your legs anymore
LOL! if you know, you know!
Thank you so much for this video, you saved me a lot of money. I am a musician and after finding out about these sounds, forget that lol
Nice tips Mike, thanks a lot
Which one for sitting up straight 8 hours/5 days a week? Also ... have you tried the X Chair 2? These high back chairs with headrests and massagers are tempting! Killer review!
Watching a fair few reviews, I have not heard the unable to sit up comment, very good to know.
Just get the Aeron and actually feel good about ur purchase.
This is the only chair that I can sit in for more than 15 minutes without my back hurting. I have a really bad lower back.
Well this video made me realize I need the aeron! Thanks so much!
yeah a follow up would be sick, congrats on 1100k been a follower since 50k, loving your progression on your YT journey!
After breaking my tailbone and dealing with ongoing pain, I appreciate this review.
I love the style of this chair but that's a definite bad point
"*1 month no wear and tear*"
Incredible. i can no longer, in good conscious, address my concerns about build quality. You have assuaged them. If a chair holds up for one month it will hold up forever! Viva Mike Twat!
2+ years later, still looks the same. You’re not a nice person.
Great video. Would like to see a comparison of this chair against a secret lab one also :)
Oh man...I think it's two different stories xD Defs a lot more value for the $ on one side!!
There is no comparison
I Own a Secret Labs chair and after a year and a half, dog shit.
Lmao
@@kevinhtx1916 yeah arm rests falling apart for me
Great review particularly on the lack of suitability for straight posture position. Helped rule this chair out for me. (Oh and the squeaking!)
Are they going do another gaming chair? 2008 is a long time with the same design.
I disagree on this being a luxury item
As someone with severe back issues and sitting more then sleeping a good chair is a health investment.
I watched a video about the sayl embody and aeron and the guy in the video said that the embody gives the most ‘freedom‘ idk how to say it but yeah ig you can sit how you want on it
would love to know more about your wall lighting though!
@Neo Anderson get a refurbished one. They are only $500
I tried them both in store and still couldn't decide... So i ordered both and will make a choice!
I'm heavily considering this chair and wanted to say thank you for the information and experience with it.
A lot of reviews are mentioning the squeaking. I have the chair for over a year and never heard any noises. Sure, it will make a sound if you move a lot and really force it, but for day-to-day shifting in your chair, it's practically silent.
Really good review of the chair ! I am french and thanks for notice the sound and problem with pain in spine
The noise problem fixed on newer models. The problem with the spine isnt that bad if you adjust it eight.
Great review!!! I'm still trying to figure out why there is a Heimer support in your game...
Thanks Mike. Personally, I have an Embody and it has *always* given me a sore lower back - maybe for the reasons you mention! So I'm looking to replace it currently.
You sir, are the man. Just saved me 1500$
Would you prefer this over the secret lab 2022?
Any thoughts on this?
excellent video! You clearly state whats important and your pacing is spot on. new sub man
Hey Mike, does your Embody base wobbles easily when the backrest tension is set to really loose? Mine wobbles a little bit when the backrest tension is loose. I don't know if that's normal or if it's something wrong with my chair?
So what chair do you recommend for sitting straight?
aeron or steelcase leap v2
Can you do a comparison between the Neue Chair and the Logitech Embody Gaming chair? Which one do you prefer?
I bought this chair around 3 days ago and I'm getting a seriously sore lowerback from it. I've tried adjusting it a ton of different ways, but it's just not comfortable. Any tips? I really want to like this chair.
Thank you for the review dude. I really like how you break down the pros/cons in a simple and direct way. Subscribed!! Stay well!
Sayl looks very nice and very comfortable i use it every day you won’t regret it
I like how you mentioned the sit straight point. Guess embody is not for me. 😢 I was so torn between fern, embody, and leap v2. Maybe Sayl as a potential dark horse outlier.
