Fantastic, so simple yet never thought of by most. Decades of study and trial by error paid off for M. Bourbeau. Was there a particular reason for using hemp/jute rope. It is rarely seen now with poly rope everywhere. Other than environmentally it is better as it does eventually rot and disappear. Very good. Thanks to the both of you for this video.

I would say the reason is natural river holds a knot much better a is easier to sinch down.

Turned out perfect. Looks pretty robust by the techniques used by you two. Well done. Nothing better than a raft and a couple buddies.

Well done! I am a leader in a scouting-style group, and we will be hitting the river this fall... mountain man style! I don't have time to make a spruce or rawhide or birch bark or dug-out canoe, so I am going to give this a try! Thank you for showing how to do it right! This will inspire a new generation! I love your channel! Cheers!

Great design, very buoyant and stable. I like the method of tightening the rounds on the log pontoon by driving in a wedged log, clever tip...
