Amazing how fast the evolution of detectors has changed to current day. Garrett was the brand I started with in the 80’s and I was hoping their new Storm series gets them back into the mix of being either at or ahead of the modern-day detector tat take on both the Minelab Xterra Elite and the Nokta Triple Score at the value end of Simulateous Multi-Frequency, and take on the XP Deus II and Minelab Manticore at the higher end offerings.I’ve put my purchase decision off until after the upcoming June 18th reveal from Garrett.
At one point yrs ago I was looking at the GTI I am personally happy I passed that detector up and just stuck with the Tracker 4 for a long long time. Until in 2019 when I bought the 600. Still a very good test.. Awesome Man..
Thank you so much. PS. I hope that the Nokta Double Score returns to it's pre-update separation proficiency. So glad that you do your testings with no fear of up-setting 'The Apple Cart'. 'Sunshine heals', shade, smoke and mirrors never will. The bona fide tester, stands apart: on a higher plane..Wheat/Chaff. You make excellent, easily digested, 'food for thought'😉. Cheers Mike.
I bought a new gti 2500 off a guy at work for £150 in the uk, I was using a D2 at the time and you definitely need the bi tone audio but I enjoyed using it! I’ll admit I was looking for the space invaders game on it but after I put the battery pack on the belt it found me some small buttons at depth so impressive. It runs 7khz and with the imaging screen it was fun but shows how far things have moved on over the years.
Random question to the video. I want your opinion on which machine is better overall. Nox 900 or The Legend? Thanks bud. Love your videos and have a lot of respect for ya
Thats tough, both are great. If I had to pick one overall it would be the Nox, only because i click with the audio better, feature wise they have all the same stuff, the legend with the small coil in the woods is really good at unmasking and keeping a non ferrous Id. You can open the filtering more on the Legend than you can on the Nox to help unmask. The Audio (less cracking and popping in iron) is cleaner on the ML to me but allot of people like the Legend audio as well.
Hey Iffy got my GTI 1500 and 2500 and zero issues and deep with a 4 1/2 coil picks right through iron very good easily hitting 8 inch depth. Garrett did a great job with the 2500, 1500 had nothing wrong with it but at least I know. I'm telling you if you can give me the settings to make my Legend unmask coins in Iron but my GTI is kicking my Legends as s...
Thanks for the info Rick, in my Legend separation videos i show my settings. Those are what i use for relic hunting. I will go up with the IF if the nails get to bad though.
@IffySignals can you do a video of a Legend hitting a dime inside the rusted horse shoe nail. Please give me detail settings I'm at my wits end. I found this dime inside the bend of a rusted bent nail with a Tesoro Cibola and many of my detectors can hit it but the Legend I can't get it to hit on any frequency settings etc. I'm close though on 4khz an M1 it is at least in only one way swing kinda sounding off. I'll have to post a video I guess. I'm not knocking it, but the Impact slams it easily and same company.
I'm thinking the xtp is the clear winner here, performing just as well on those iron tests as the score did when you lower the tone break to -8. It's a hell of a machine for that price really. And if you put an equinox coil on it you get another inch of depth and steadier vdi. Winner winner chicken dinner.
So much hate for Garrett! :) I've been using Garretts since 1972 , and still have my old ADS and it still works good! Yes, I own a GTI 2500 I bought when they were brand new. With a Nel Tornado you can dig dimes at 12". If you don't master your detector, one is no better than the other. I've found the new ones to be too sensitive, without enough depth. Air Tests mean nothing.
I like Garrett but they really need to start putting out more modern, competitive machines. They have been flogging this old tech for far too long and relying on slick marketing and nostalgia to make sales. By the way, the Apex, for all it's faults is also fantastic at ignoring bottle caps on the beaches where I search. Nokta is smoking the competition at the moment though, in the low to mid-range anyway.
Yup I find concentric amazing on my Kruzer. Never dig bottle caps with that setup. DD loves bottle caps though unless you're in multi in which case you ignore Canadian clad so......I use my Kruzer in bottle cap heaven just to test the ground. If the finds are decent I'll switch back to my Legend and clean it all out.
@@IffySignalsAny of the unsold GTI , GTA s pretty much have the same price as they ever had. I guess any dealers that stock them are stuck with them!!! old antiquated technology. you can bet Garrett will have no buy back programs……. they really need to be scrapped. They probably no longer service them ….. Technology has left them behind!!!! Same with Fisher Labs. The entry level detectors Garrett and Fisher offer are a total waste of money and time for anyone purchasing them .
One thing in both of your tests you fail to let everybody know that you're comparing a Concentric coil on the garrett against double D coils,, big differences but they both have their places,,
I had the Apex when it first came out and found the recovery speed to be a little on the slow side. I have had a couple more since then and with the last firmware update it improved a lot. Still outclassed by Nokta Score and Double Score though. @@IffySignals
Great test, Iffy! Who would try to sell that outdated machine at that price. Insane!
Yup. A few dealers have it listed $1049
Id be pissed if a dealer told me that about the Garrett GTI. They are all about the same now days. Lol. That really helps a customer out.
Right!
Really about time garret makes a new GTI that's waterproof and multi with great separation like my old tesoro cmd Wolf Trax d
Wish you tried the Vanquish on that new separation test ;)
Christmas week my father will be down here with his 540. I have had a few requests for that. I will make the video that week.
Great part 2 Mike !!!
Thanks Lizz!!

Definitely, what we are getting now from ML and Nokta would have cost allot more probably around $1k 15 years ago.
@@IffySignals Indeed! A great time to be a buyer in Metal Detecting!

Thank you Tim! Appreciate it.
I have an exterra pro and I've found some awake stuff with it great machine works great in my ground in iowa
Definitely 👍 $250 for that machine is awesome. The junk Amazon china machines are $150 plus and are awful.
The old green machine!!! I haven't used one of those for many years. It was a great machine all those years ago!
Hey Nathan! I never had one but i can see how it could be useful for park hunting compared to what else was out at the time.
Thank you for sharing with us.
Welcome Jimmy
Excellent report!

I can see how it would be fun for parks and baseball fields 👍
Hello Iffy, if you can make a video showing when you use and how works "Ground Suppressor" in Nokta Double Score. Thanks.
Hi Vambiros, shoot me an email with the questions you have and ill try and help you out or explain. My emails in my about sections.

Thanks again. Really enjoyed watching. Take care ✌️

Nice test thanks for sharing!!!!
Welcome 👍
Who was that dealer?
whoever the dealer was , he must be trying to eliminate detectors he otherwise will be stuck with. more than likely a K- co type dealer .
Dealer was Calabash Digger Detector Sales 😆
He's outed 😁😁@@IffySignals

I see the GTI's all of the time on Marketplace. I can see why!
Yup, Technology changes fast 👍

The garrett will definitely ignore bottle caps using the concentric, but is easily blinded by masked targets.

Only thing Garret makes that is good is the garret carrot pin pointer imo
👍
And now the accupoint is kicking then of there high pedestal
I have a gti 2500 listed on ebay for 872.30 usd plus postage (open to offers) 😅
Yikes!
The GTI appears to be incredibly slow
I expected that being that old. Like an iPhone 4 vs 14. The surprising thing is the price and how its still being sold for over 1k.

What about the Garrett Apex. Why Garrett still sell the GTI is beyond me.
I have an older video showing the Apex but that was before this test garden or test blocks. Really not sure how it would do.
