Ryan is a great dude. I talked with him on the phone after getting to him through Calabash and a mutual friend of ours. I bought a triple score from him. Last machine I bought was a DEUS 1 three years ago. I took it to a sparse but well hunted colonial site. I found a late 1600s Spanish cob out of iron with out of the box settings in park mode. The DEUS missed it many times. It was only 5-6” deep. Solid 33 signal. To pull a non ferrous target is impressive at that site. Triple score is a good machine no doubt. That’s probably the first cob on US soil pulled with the triple score. I about guarantee it.

Great video! Both look like great machines! I just sold my legend and replaced it with a triple score 🤣. I liked the simpler menu and operation of the triple score since they have added all the legend stuff with the updates. Definitely more refined and streamlined easier to use menu. It was almost a coin flip between the triple score and x-terra elite but the added features and included coil/ headphones made me lean triple score. Even got it a bit cheaper during an independence day sale. Quite a bargain! Its amazing how much detectors have changed in the last few years and how much value is packed in some of them. Thanks for all you do!

Iv never taken much notice of the minelab elite to be honest , and my friends just bought a triple score, but to me the signals on the elite just seemed crisper. Both companies have done a great job with these machines, if I didn't already have a manticore I'd be tempted to go for the elite. Great video as always iffy!

I have a xp deus 1. And its getting harder and harder to use. Impossible to use near robot lawnmower restriction lines. Where my brother can get much closer with his deus 2. And I can't be near anyone with multifrequency detectors. I have been waiting for the garret vortex reviews, but im starting to think that might not be something I want. I am now looking at the X-terra elite and the triple score. Think Im getting one of these and call it a day. Stop the fiddling with settings etc on the deus that is driving me nuts now days. It worked so much better before the latest updates. And now i can't go back cause i don't have the original coil anymore and my coil require the newer firmware. I hate this! I want something "plug and play"

    Thanks for the tests Iffy.
I also thank Nokta and Minelab for providing excellent performing, submersible, high quality, and full featured detectors at such a low price point. Admittingly though, I thank Nokta more so becuase they are the catalyst that started that whole thing :)
On your tougher tests and especially with the iron debris surrounding those targets, I would say the two detectors performance was virtually identical. More specifically, under those conditions even a slight change in certain settings or a certain combination of settings change, can turn an iffy hit to a solid hit and vice versa...and they were already very close to begin with. Heck, under those conditions, even a slight change in sweep angle can notably change the results.
One aspect of your testing that shows good methodology, is that you recognize the importance of doing the in ground comparison testing at the same time. For those that may not know, due to various reasons the target orientation can change in as little as a day, which can skew test results on different days. Another factor (as Iffy mentioned) that skews testing on different days is the ground moisture level.

I’m now leaning Minelab Elite over the Triple Score mostly because the Minelab tones sound so much better. Both machines rock and appear capable of challenging the more expensive machines so I’m not sure if I need all the adjustments that are in the upper money detectors. Great video

For a complete newbie's two cents, such as myself, with both types of machines being so close (watched yours and others comparisons vids), it then comes down to price vs what you get. Here in Canada, the Elite is the same price as a Legend, though the Legend is a few years older, and with older hardware tech. The TS is 140 less, and adding their EOY sale, with a lot more accessories/goodies, and I prefer the BT being non proprietary, so that if I need to, I can add any BT headphone with good low latency. Also, add that there is a Nokta pin pointer in the package, the value grows (now it is not 140 less, but over 260 less), and the owner of Metaldetect in Ontario, even allowed to be upgraded to the Accupoint (which also has BT connectivity) in the package. She is easy going, knowledgeable, and great to talk to, with me buying this first detect machine, and yes, she deserves a shout out. So, coming down to just value for a Multi-detect, feature rich machine, N TS came out way ahead with their EOY sale, and all I needed was a digging shovel, nothing else to get started. Final savings with basically everything required, over 330 CAD (plus taxes, thank you govs everywhere) (double that saving not purchasing the Elite, as still needed the other stuff), and can go out detecting (think I will just steal one of my smaller garden shovels for now). Complete - win win at only 679 CAD (vs over 1000 CAD + taxes) with this totally usable EOY package. Oh, it's only money, yet, with those kind of savings, shrugs, rather keep it in my pocket, enough said.
Now, some would argue, but that ML tone and this and that. Friends, first off, I am a complete newbie, I watched a lot of CC (not just on mid range units, but even better, and what they do, and how they do it) since early this year wanting a machine, and was ready to buy the ML XT Pro (as that was in my newbie, I might not want to do this later, budget) over the Simplex, as I liked it's features. And then, still would need a decent pin pointer, grab bag, serrated trowel, shovel, etc etc, yet, as always, life somehow gets in the way, and stuff gets put on hold. Jumping ahead to this past month and the early BFriday sales, for shits and giggles, thought to seriously look again at getting a detecting unit. Surprised on the newer machines, N TS and ML XT Elite, and with further research, and watching other CC, and looking at price vs features vs is it water proof vs what you get vs what else 👀 needed vs... , TS won out. Also, just before there are others replying, I also looked at both companies, Nokta and Minelab and how they treat older machines vs updates. The legend has had updates, and even this TS has had updates, that is a plus in my book (I am a nerd). That means, to me, if enough people say, if only it did not do that and it had this and that watchamacallit, I do believe Nokta will be seriously looking at that, and possible updates. They seem to care about their machines and customers, and wish to stay ahead of their game, though I am NOT downplaying Minelab, just focused on what I am buying, at this point.
Remember, this is all research from a nerd newbie, with not caring on any rats thingamabobs about stuff called Legend, Matacore, DS II, Garret, Nokta, ML, etc. I am very good at sifting through the whine and/or white noise, that so many make, and looking at hard data. One thing I have learned early on in life, it is not what you don't or do have, did you even use it, and yet how did you use it, and did you bother even learning how to use it (think that was what she said, ... anyways). Now waiting for my TS to arrive in the next few days (thanks Postal strike, sods on both sides), so I can play with it, learn how to use it, learn it's quirks, and so on, heck, might even read the manual (do guys even read manuals?), since I will have lots of reading time, as we are heading into the great white north season. Moving forward, this Nokta TS will do me fine, as I dive head first into the detecting jungle, and no buyers remorse (which is for wankers).
So iffy, aside from this long soliloquy (phew), just wanted to say, thank you for your due diligence on these test comparisons videos. In fairness, as it stands at this point, really did not mean much, or do anything for me for the other detect units (though, those still sitting on the buying fence would care), but more so, on how to look for, at, and recognize targets, and use the tones and settings on the Nokta TS display. I am contemplating, I need to make some of those test subjects myself, to learn and play in the upcoming blizzard months (almost the same thing as indoor golf cup puts). Cheers friend, keep up the great teaching and use(r) scenarios, since you deserve the likes and sub.👍Later.

@IffySignals i had a minelab xterra (place numbers here) it was the high end xterra at the time. Took it out 5xs and did well. Then asking with about $4000 worth of fly fishing gear, (a bounty hunter 505 too) it was stolen from my jeep. That hurt. I've been trying to get back into it for a while but there are so many and everyone says their detector is the best. Look, i love fresh baked chocolate chip cookies but they're not all made the same. Not all are the best either. I'm a little familiar with minelab so I'd like to stay with that brand but I'm open to change.

I have the Deus 2. I have several sites where I need to dig only shallow targets (because of regulations). So I need to watch the depth meter. Bottle cap reject, soil subtraction, Fe sensitivity, and inaccurate ground balance, altogether or singularly, will seriously affect the depth meter to the point of uselessness. Just raising the coil helps but is not as accurate. Have you seen that? (of course I can always just adjust all those settings but I thought it was interesting and a little disappointing)

Excellent video and thank you for your time and effort in making the comparison. I want to purchase an smf machine as I currently own a Simplex+ and would like to detect saltwater beaches. I am considering the Triple Score and the Legend. The Legend has the additional 40khz frequency like the Elite. Your test on small gold showed that the TS missed the gold sliver at 2" while the Elite hit it. For park detecting and saltwater beach detecting, is the added 40khz frequency of the Legend worth the extra money when it comes to detecting small gold? Is the added frequency mainly for gold prospecting? Also, how do you feel the TS and the Legend compare as far as unmasking? I feel the TS has more than enough features and adjustability for me so my main concern is possibly missing small gold. Thank you for any feedback you can provide.

    • @IffySignals
      @IffySignals  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hi, the Triple Score runs the same multi spectrum as the Legend. It is the single selectable frequency of 40 it is missing. Same with the Elite in Multi. It runs the same as the other Multi IQ machines.. nox, vanquish, manticore. The ML Multi IQ just tend to hit a bit better on small gold.

    • @stratman6879

@@IffySignalsThanks for clarifying that about the 40khz frequency. I thought the TS was lacking the 40khz frequency altogether.
