You got that right, Nothing like saving money and using something custom that you built with your own 2 hands. I agree, Its always more fun when you can DIY something.
Glad I found this movie... You gave me a great idea! I know where there are a pair of forklift tines laying around, and with a slightly different top bar I could make my own forklift attachment, and also use it for a weight bracket... Project is on my list, hopefully nobody has claimed those tines yet!
Thanks man, always happy to help get people thinking of ways to save money and to build their own projects! Sounds like you have a good plan already in your head I'm sure it will work out great! I just made a recent video last week of how to build your own front weight bracket if your interested you should watch that one for some further ideas haha. Thanks for the comment
I am going to build a mini pickup style bed for the rear of my BX2380 tractor. It will have 2 levels. Bottom for adding weight and top or upper level for general hauling of yard type stuff. Reason is I am going to have my FEL off most of the time and the tractor will be my main mower. So having it be a mower will not be interfered with by the back bed. It will have flip up sides and rear that will act to be extensions of the sides and rear when flipped down. When folded down they will create a large flatbed, when folded up they will look like a mini back bed has been installed on the tractor. The lower level will be designed for cement weights that are rectangular made like large 25 lb bricks. I will be able to load them in layers as needed by folding the main bed area up. I want it to look cool and be functional. Might go as far as making some fiberglass sides and tailgate for it then painting them the right color of orange so it looks good. I don't expect to use rear implements much but will make the bed easy to remove if needed. Mowing and some times hauling stuff. BXPerfect~
Very cool man! I Really like that idea, that’s gonna be very interesting to see. I can see how it would work well for your needs going from a ballast box, to a truck bed, then to a flat bed when you need the space. I think you’d love it by the sounds of it 👍🏻
Good set up and the fabrication work saved a bunch of money. I bought the Harbor Freight QH then made my own concrete ballast. Thanks for the video it gives some nice details. Have a fine upcoming weekend. 👍🏽🙂
Thanks Houndsman! Glad you liked it, I made it to help others to save money when adding accessories like this to their tractors.. the harbor freight quick hitch is the Sam we exact one as mine too I believe just rebranded so it’s a decent quick hitch for sure. Best of luck and stay safe!
Thank you for the information! Your welding is very impressive. The suitcase weights from Home Depot is a great idea! I just checked it out and they do indeed have suit case weights. Will buy a couple for our BX2680.
Awesome Jean I'm glad it was helpful! Home Depot has some of the best deals on John Deere weights cuz you don't have to pay shipping.. I also found out that amazon will sometimes run specials on them too with free shipping so check that out as well. Thanks for watching!
Thanks a ton man, I’m glad you like it. These little Kubota’s are work Horses. If you liked this video stay tuned cuz I just did a video on how to fabricate a weight bracket cart. Should be uploaded tomorrow afternoon
That’s great! I agree I think it’s the absolute BEST way to solve those pesky fuel can issues! Best investment I ever made for my fuel cans haha. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Well thought out and as always a great job. I have a LP quick hitch and rather than reduce the radius of the top hook I just took some short lengths of 3/4" iron pipe and slipped it over the top pin on each of the attachments to get that better fit. Checked on the HD weight awesome!!
Thanks Bob! Hey that’s a great idea using short lengths of 3/4” pipe. I hate that they make them larger than they need to be and that you have to pay extra generally for a standard true cat 1 quick hitch but as you and I both talked about there are plenty of ways around it. Thanks for watching!
@@tacoman3331 very cool man! Good choice on picking them up cuz I chose the option to have them shipped to my door when I recently ordered 4 for my tractor and 2 got “damaged” in shipping and so they got delayed like a week and a half I wasn’t happy cuz I needed them for a video and a job I was doing.. prolly better off just going to pick them up after they transfer them to your local store which I’ll do that if I ever buy anymore of them. Great to hear it all worked out for you. The John Deere weights from them are really nice, amazing finish and well cut weights
Hi just waiting delivery of my new BX here in the UK. Very informative video even though as you say in reply to DIY REVIEWER it's an old one, but as we say in the UK "it's an oldie but Goodie". Just wish I could get hold of as many BX bits in the UK as in the USA. Keep up the good work.
Hey Mike thanks buddy I appericate that! Congrats on your new BX I bet your super excited to get it delivered so you can get right to using it! Let me know how you like it and I’m glad my videos can help teach new BX tractor owners 👍🏻
Thanks man, yah it just made more sense for me to buy the main frame for $50 cuz i didn't have any square stock or decent metal laying around. Also that REESE receiver works great for $25. I use it as my rear tie down point every time i haul my tractor to a job. Thanks for watching!
Nice video man! That looks professionally built you have great skill in fabricating and welding. I bet I could do something like that for my ASV. Thanks for sharing.
T.S.L〉 A Landscaping Company thanks for your comment! You could prolly design something for your ASV but most the time they have something called a “ballast bumper” call AVS and see if they have a heavy rear steel bumper you can buy as an add on.. either that or they may have bolt holes in your current rear bumper which would allow you to hang special designed weights off the rear of your ASV for ballast. Judging by the way you work it I’m sure it would do you a lot of good having that extra weight back there! You do quite a bit of work with that machine. 👍🏻
Kubota Monster thanks for the comment man! Glad I could help give you some ideas. Hopefully you put those JD weights to good use! Things are like gold haha.
Mine was made by “Ranch-Ex” you can usually find them on eBay that’s where I got mine, I agree they have been increasingly hard to find ones with a true Cat 1 hitch. I would check Landpride, they have a true cat 1 version
Have you put liquid in your tires? Just purchased a used b7800 looking to play and modify Just made a receiver hitch for my tractor used an old car receiver just like yours
Very cool man! It’s really nice having a receiver on your tractor as you can use them for so many things, glad to hear you used the same thing as me, I still have it on my tractor and use it all the time. The B7800 is a great machine also so congrats on the purchase! I do have my rear tires filled also.. I would HIGHLY recommend it for any tractor owner looking to do work with their FEL
Thanks man. Are you talking about the top hook on the quick hitch? What I did was I stuck a standard cat 1 pin inside the top hook then made small slivers of steal shims and laid them in there untill there was very little play, once I was happy with the amount of shims I held them there and tacked them in place then fully welded them. I used 1/8”x1” wide flat stock for the shims and just cut them down to the width of the top hook so they would lay right in there nicely. Hope this helps!
I was really considering getting one of those rear hitches from AI2. I was wondering if you thought it would be possible to just wrap an axle strap around the frame where the hitch mounts to and then hooking up a ratchet strap to it. I haven't had to trailer my tractor yet but I have some things coming up where I will need to. I do plan on the previously mentioned method for the front of the frame since the front hooks are kind of expensive too.
I get what your saying but I wouldn't recommend strapping down your tractor by the 3 point hitch if you can help it for a few reasons.. One being that if the hitch is not all the way down and it settles/drifts like they often do your straps will loosen up and for two since the 3 point hitch is made to pivot side to side it would be tough to strap the tractor down tight and securely. Kubota actually has some eyelets up above the 3-point hitch on the rear frame you can use those if you'd like.. There should be one small eyelet on either side of the rear frame above the 3-point. This is why they are there only most people do not know about them or realize they are there or just prefer not to use them because of how high off the ground they are but aside from them being up high these are totally safe to use. Take a look and let me know if you end up finding them.
@@BiffsEquipment I'm definitely gonna look for them. I didn't actually mean using the 3 pt hitch for contact. Rather wrapping the axle strap around the rear frame. Just above where the backhoe would sit in those "j channels". I would think as long as you can get them to not slide up or down that frame you would be okay.
@@BiffsEquipment are you talking about right at each end of the ROPS? I think I know what you're talking about. They are a little high but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Holding it forward/backward and down should be good.
Wow sounds like they went up a ton since I made this video! They were like $65 each give or take with free shipping to your local store.. maybe word caught on about them and prices went up.. supply and demand haha
Anytime I can build equipment I do, it saves money and it’s rewarding to do it yourself.

Awesome man! You’ll have to let me know how it worked out for you! Which project did you do the quick hitch one or the standard 2” hitch?
@@BiffsEquipment The standard 2” hitch, I ordered weights from Home Depot and I’m just waiting for them to arrive at the store so I can pick them up.

Where did you but the Cat 1 bottom pins for the weight bracket
It came with it but you can buy them at tractor supply I have gotten many cat 1 pins from tractor supply they are fairly cheap
