      Just bought a Speeco E hitch. Looking for advice; fits my new Deere disc perfect. My 6 year old behlen box blade and old 25a Deere flail don’t fit. The 3 PT frame is too wide and lift pins can’t seat into speeco and frame rests on speeco. Any workarounds? Am I SOL? Likely will get a new box blade and sell old one. But my 25a works great and would rather not buy another. What flail works/seats into the speeco? I’m now too concerned about just ordering an implement and it not being able to fit.

      Had my harbor freight for 16 years. Used on my BX2230 until 2016. Been on my B3200 for eight years. Have abused it as much as possible with a 6 foot Land Pride box blade cutting new roads thru woods. Have bent and broken scarifiers on rocks and stumps and the HF quick hitch just keeps pulling. None of the tractor guys ever talk about it. Surprising given how low the price is. I bought it new for $100. They’re only $134 now.
      To give the same info, weight is 61.4 lbs. Also, the manual says nothing about bushings and I’ve never used them with it.

      Did you find that you had to buy a 5/8” top link pin? My “quick hitch compatible” box blade came with a 3/4” pin for that top link and it’s just big enough that it won’t fit through the holes in the Speeco. It wasn’t a big deal to get a 5/8” pin, but I was a bit surprised.

    For the hitches that require bushings, would it be an option to just get the sleeve bushings that you could easily take on or off? Why are the bushings that use the roll pins needed? I can see where the roll pin style would be better in a lot of ways but if you're using the implement on a quick hitch tractor and on a non-quick hitch tractor, it would be difficult to remove that style bushing.

    @Good Works Tractors
    The bushings are there for some older hay equipment that use the 3-point hitch as a two point hitch system. In my opinion, it would be cheaper and more efficient to change the pins on that equipment than to buy bushings for everything else. It's also unlikely that sub-compact tractors will be using said equipment. On top of that, I'm not sure any of that stuff would actually be usable with a quick hitch in the first place. I would assume that most of the quick hitches are made the way they are, because they copied John Deere. John Deere most likely did that because they wanted that backwards compatibility.

  • @garny3766

    My thoughts on the lower bushings are just for additional adaptation to implement hitches that are not exact cat 1 width dimensions or pin size. Whether it be internal or external lower pin mounts. And with the shoulder no need to worry about snagging the lynchpin when hooking up. Also it’s easier to bush up than change pins to get to correct size.

    Cat 1 to Cat 3 on Quick Hitch
    My theory on why the different sizes using the bushing is to #1, sell more parts, #2 is that in using the quick hitch over a period of time, the bushing becomes slightly burred. On the hitch that is of no concern. But if it was on the Cat 1 pin itself, you might have trouble putting the pin in the receiver ball socket if that was ever desired.

    It's simple really... they only make one model and call it CAT I/II/III based on the hitch pins they install in it. There are always tradeoffs. Most post hole augers I know of don't use the top link, but rather have the post hole auger connect right to the base of the top link. Basically, you remove the top link from your 3 point and connect the auger frame to it instead.

    • @wruehl
      @wruehl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@GoodWorksTractors I get it, my question is that the quick mount is useless without the top link, therefore I guess it would be incompatible with an auger. Thank you for your review! I would add a very important point. One of the most important thing when choosing a quick hitch is to consider wich one has the shorter distance between the lower hook and 3 point tractor side pin hole. The shorter is the distance, the better it is to keep your accesories neer your tractor. You don't want any unecessary inches between the tractor and your accessories. I think that having larger hook diameter give you the chance to install bigger tool and also beign able to install the Cat. 1 tools ? Very good review, lot of information ! Thanks !

    This is a great video, but you also need the inside/outside wall dimensions of the quick hitch frame because when you have an attachment like a box blade, that wall needs to fit inside of that pin area just like the hooks. I purchased a quick hitch based on the inside/outside hook widths and then got it home only to realize the hooks fit fine but the outside wall dimensions were too wide for my "quick hitch compatible" box blade.

    Anyone ever used the Speeco with a JD2520?
    Does anyone know if the Speeco will work with a JD2520?
    Also i’m not understanding why when you use the Speeco they say you dont need bushings but dont explain further why not? Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you

    I can adjust mine side to side and up and down with pins in seconds and I don’t need bushings! I can hook up to anything that’s quickhitch in seconds. Unfortunately, the company no longer makes them.

    Im happy without. Especially since my equipment doesnt stand on its own. Also im using cat 2 and 1.5. I say 1.5 since ive switched the 7/8 lift pins to 1 1/8 lift pins so i dont need bottom bushings and my boom pole gramps built so i dont believe it conforms to cat 1 spacing

    I'm thinking get a cheep one and weld some plate on each side to fit it to size without bushings then do some fill weld and just permanently fix it lol

    Why are tractor owners so obsessed with color? Most of my implements are scratched and rusted within a week of purchase.

    Like the video my question is is a item is not stamped quick hitch compatible what advice can you give me to try if one will work with my attachment. Might be a stupid question but I am new to the tractor game so to speak thanks.

      Howdy, that's why I gave the dimensions in the video. So you can compare the width of the lower links of these quick hitches to the attachments you have to see if they'll work for ya. Thanks for watching!

      I know you didn't ask me, but here I go anyway...
      Totally NOT a stupid question, and I think you'll find that some folks don't ask it ahead of time and then get frustrated when their implements don't (appear to) work with a qh. (So now's the time to ask!) 👍
      As I implied above, you might find that any given implement doesn't APPEAR to work with a qh (and sadly, there may be little chance of finding this out without actually having the pieces and trying to hook them up), but sometimes a new adapter and/or set of bushings is all you need to purchase to make it happen. Tractor forums (like on Facebook) are good places to find out what solutions are already out there. (And GWT is always a great resource too!)
      Hope this helps.

    I decided to get those because I don't need the bushings. Thanks Courtney for the direction and the great educational videos! They are why I bought both forks and the quick hitch from you. You make me feel confident in what I am buying.

      Yes, I was informed of that. Pricing online ranges from $400 to $500. www.tractorhouse.com/listings/farm-attachment/for-sale/list?catid=22011&manu=land+pride&mdltxt=qh10

    I just saw a new SpeeCo that needed to couplings. Are you still going to be able to get the SpeeCo without need for couplings? Thanks.

    It's definitely worth it. The $120 quick hitch from Harbor Freight does the job good. I have 1000 lbs of counterweight on it.
    Don't use the $30 bushings, use the $3 sleeves. Remove the bolts from the top hook and put in quick easy to move pins instead.
    Now when I buy implements I just make sure that they will match up to it. Get an adapter plate with spaced-out pinholes for the top for some of the implements .

    I bought the speeco to put on my Massey 4707 that is designed for category 2. However most of my implements are 7 foot amd category 1. Is one of the hitches have a wider space for the lower arms to hook into? The speeco lacks about 1/8 to 1/4 of and inch of fitting. Thanks for your videos.

      I have a 2860m and I’m told it will not fit on that as well. 2860m has cat 1 and cat 2 balls. Speeco sells another cat 1 that uses bushings which is probably for fitting bigger compacts. Just my reasoning not certain. Your 4707 probably more of a cat 2 hookup but that other cat 1 Speeco might work. They are black, but like I said use a bushing.

    Hello GWT, What's the difference between the Speeco E-Hitch and their Quick-Hitch? They look very similar other than Red vs. Black. Thanks.
