I have done this same test. But my "gaming" pc is just an old Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio. Amazingly, all three work just fine. I did have a couple app closures when using the iPad (M4 iPad Pro). Best result is my M3 MacBook Pro, which runs it all flawlessly on maxed out graphics.
I’ve had a SKYTRAK+ for a year and my e6 subscription just expired. I want to get course play but don’t currently have a compatible device. The software is saying neither my iPhone 14 Pro Max or my iPad Pro 3rd gen are capable. I’m trying to decide what would be best/economical purchase between Gaming PC or Apple product. Any thoughts from a performance perspective? I’m running it through a projector too.
@@BigMacJMU72 Well if you have to buy a new device I would always go with a gaming PC for the golf simulator. It will give you more options should you decide to try other software like GSPro or switch launch monitors down the road.
Thanks for the video. A good sign. I have been tossing around the EML, ST+, & BLP. Pretty much in that order. The iPad working, the course play and the $1650 out the door had me jump on a ST+ to try. I still think the EML and GS Pro will probably turn out to be a better, more reliable set up. This video is encouraging though.
Unfortunately I don't. Lots of people comment saying to put the ball just behind the dot but I really haven't experimented with that a whole lot. I just drop it on the dot every time. I use Birtees plastic cone tees you can get on amazon.
Looks like your iPad doesn’t have the M1 chip which they recommend? What are your iPad specs? Wonder if the frames dropped are due to this? Thanks for reviewing
Actually it has the Apple M2 chip. It's a an iPad Pro 11 inch 4th generation. I actually think it might have to do with it being connected to the projector. The screen recording was not that bad compared to what was shown on the projector.
Great video. You mentioned that your Mac has an M1 chip. Which chip does your iPad Pro have? I just bought a SkyTrak + and I’ll be buying an iPad for it in the next few days. I was thinking about an iPad Pro with M4. Appreciate your videos. They are always well done.
While they need to work on the putting and how the ST+ recognizes all-white putters, it looks like you can use the software across all platforms without any additional licensing. That’s a win. Is there a way to report what you’re experiencing with your Spyder putter? I look at how people reacted to the MLM2Pro when it first came out and all of its issues just over a year ago. People had all types of complaints and were sending it back. I have a feeling that will be the case with the ST+. I have a feeling a year from now - their course software will be a lot more fun to play.
I'm sure I could contact tech support about the white putter but I have to believe it's a known issue. Fortunately it's not that big of a deal for me. I'm pretty impressed with the course play overall. The graphics are great. I'd like to see some kind of lie penalties added and of course club data with ST+. And yes, the fact that it has the most device compatibility is going to be big selling point for a lot of people.
I'm not sure what's involved with doing that but I know there are a ton of huge games like Call of Duty that are all for PC only. You would think the users for any of those games would double if they made it available for MacOS but for some reason they don't.

Hmmm. Thanks for sharing. I'm questioning the iPad a little but sounds like MacOS is doing well for both of us.
@ I’ve had no issues with the range or game improvement. But Course Play has crashed twice. I’m sticking the MacBook Pro.
Great video. I noticed there arent any clubs to select from or shot type. Does it read the angles and spin and determine the club you used?
Did you have any trouble with the aspect ration using iPad? Mine works fine sometimes, and other times has too much width. Lmk, thanks!

Your iPad has the apple M1 chip right? It says that’s the iOS requirement for course play.
@@friendly_golfer No, it has the A12x chip. I think I need to procure a new device.

Glad it was helpful!
What gaming laptop do you have?
Can you please tell me if you have any tips on picking up wedge shots, sometimes it does not pick it up.
Also what’s the best tee for driver.

Is this update limited to the SkyTrak + or is it available on the original SkyTrak as well ?
It’s for either one but to play courses it is an upgraded subscription from skytrak
When u get a skyrak do you have access to all three versions at the same price?
Yes. One subscription and you can use it on any or all devices.
Great vid! Random question, how far is your golf ball from the wall behind you? I may be setting something up, and have a similar space. Ty!
Thanks! Not sure if you mean the wall behind me when I'm hitting but if so it's just under 8ft. The whole width is 12ft wall to wall.
Question how do you know if the Skytrak+ is fully charged?
I'm pretty sure the lights on top just turn off. I think they're yellow when you plug it in and then they turn off when it's charged.
Yup your 100% correct

Just saw your response to someone else that you have an M2 iPad. Thanks again.
Thank you! It's nice that the software is pretty much identical on every device. Enjoy!
I have an M4 ipad and still get some lag some times. Still testing more stuff before courseplay though.

I feel like GSPro need to invest in doing this. It would be a gamechanger to be able to run it on an M1+ Macbook/Mac mini

@@friendly_golfer If the square golf launch monitor succeeds in linking to GSPro and it sounds like it will, this will be a reality very soon.
Thanks for your hard work on this Bobby. I just don't rate the skytrak+
Thank you!
