  • A day or two Tending a Handmade Life ... the waxing and waning of my organic raised beds, getting ready to build my wood fired kiln and processing a small bit of the recently discovered vein of clay on our land, and feeding my homegrown indigo fermentation vat*.

Here's a link to my Wild Clay Series of videos: tinyurl.com/4v...
    . . . . . .
For my indigo fermentation vat, I started with these instructions: tinyurl.com/2p... ; more info on Catherine Ellis' blog post here: tinyurl.com/2x... ; and another set of directions here: tinyurl.com/3r... . I've combined these into my current approach, which is close, very close, to being ready!

*side note regarding my indigo vat ... I think I've been stirring it too vigorously as it has yet to reduce. It has a wee bit of a coppery sheen on the top, but the vat liquid is still blue and not the telltale yellowy/green. So I've added some water and reheated the bran/madder mixture to add some more reducing liquid, then giving it a 'gentle' stir and see how it looks tomorrow.
