Composting is great, but if you have a dehydrator, dehydrate some of fresh-picked carrot tops (leaves more than stems) and you can make a mildly spicy green powder full of nutrients. Same with beet greens, radish greens. etc. Dehydrating them gives you an herb for flavoring foods, and nearly all the nutrients of eating them fresh, except you can serve them in soups, stews, sauces, etc, in the wintertime!

With the plum tree, I don’t know if you have already mentioned it in a different video, but a lot of fruit trees have alternate years for good fruit crops and then the next year, they tend to smaller crops and turn their energy into the tree itself. Then the cycle continues
Hope it survives to next year though 🤞

Gardening is such a great hobby - it's so satisfying to be able to grow your own food, and even more so to be able to preserve it for later. I've only been gardening for a couple years, but I've already learned so much and I'm always excited to learn more. I would encourage you to keep at it - even if it's just a small backyard garden, there's nothing like the feeling of being able to go out to your garden and harvest fresh produce that you grew yourself.

A younger sibling was being a pest(normal) so Mom asked her to make up cheers for us as we were gardening. We all helped with the wording, but I still remember it:
    Ahem, ahem, ahem!
    Onions, onions,
    siss boom bah!
    Onions, onions
    Rah, rah, rah!
    Plant 'em in the dirt
    give 'em a couple squirts
    pretty soon the flower pops
    and little seeds go
    plop plop plop!
There were other parts to the chorus, changed as the day went on.
    That was a fun day!

I don't live were l can have a garden now, but when my children were littke we had fun planting, picking and eating the fruits of our labors. Gardens are a true blessing when you can plant one.

just a heads up, for the plum tree, the reason why they are so small is because they are too many, try taking some of the plum flowers off when it begins to blum and cutting any new or extra tree shots that may be forming, making it focus purely on the fruits you leave behind.

I just love watching your videos! My garden is about the size of one your garden beds! I was wondering if you would do an experiment with the bed that wasn’t used this year and plant a full garden in one bed (tomatoes, peppers, carrots, onions etc)?!For those of us that have small gardens I think it would be fun to see how you can organize and plant 1 bed that produces all of your food and how much you can actually get out of it!

Have you tried 'hanging' a garden? (Like hanging baskets) It's a great way to use space that would otherwise go unused....especially when your space on the ground is limited.

With the knowledge you have, the knowledge you seek & your common sense I see you having a low to no cost garden in the next 2-3 yrs if not sooner. Keep trying & remember some years are not as productive as others, mostly from things out of your control. Never stop trying! I am proud of you! Not many people your age would even think of attempting what you have already achieved. Great job & great example set!

I discovered your videos a couple of days ago and haven't been able to stop clicking on the next one. You are amazing!!! Just one quick hack to share though. Put a clean toilet brush at the end of your drill and put your carrots and potatoes in a bucket full of water then turn put the toilet brush in the bucket and turn on the drill. It will wash your carrots and potatoes wonderfully
