This whole album was an experience!! I used to listen to it all the time (around 2009), thanks for reminding me why. I'm about to go back and listen now.......
The original sample used in Mos Def's Auditorium was sourced from the song “Do jhooth ji ek sach ke liye” by legendary Lata Mangeshkar who passed away this year. Music by Shankar-Jaikishan, legendary duo. Movie - Do Jhooth (1975 Hindi film). Give props to the real gems for this legendary music 🙌
I'm 41... I'm a subscriber. To listen to you young cats on these reaction videos not only gives me a great nostalgic experience but, it reintroduces me to music that was THE BEST ERA OF RAP. And the relevance of the songs still speak FOR TODAY'S SOCIETY.... it's crazy. But to hear you guys listen to it for the first time makes me just as excited as we were when we FIRST HEARD IT! Thank you for keeping REAL HIP HOP ALIVE!
Omg I still love this album. And Mos Def. Hes a genuius. The self described black Dante, the Brooklyn Boogeyman. One of the greatest to ever do it, Mos is CRIMINALLY underrated when he's not only a great rapper, he has a gorgeous singing voice. Check out the songs Sunshine, The Panties, and Modern Marvel (an over 9 minute sheer MASTERPIECE-my favorite song he's ever done-pure poetry that just builds and builds, incredible track) from his album The New Danger (one of the best hip hop albums of all time and one of my personal favorites) and anything from Black Star, which was Talib Kweli and Mos Def's joint group.
I can’t tell you how cool it is watching some dude 25 years younger than me gettin hyped on a Mos Def, Madlib and Slick Rick joint. There is hope in the world. That track is insanely good. “Y’all know what it is…”
auditorium is def my favourite song of all time, i listen to it almost everyday for years and still get chills, you should listen to blackstar - thieves in the night, both mos' and kwelis' parts are incredible and judging by the intro you already know mos' part on education by freddie gibbs&madlib
Madlib is a living legend. I don't think anyone can match his depth of knowledge and level of output. Slick Rick and Yasin Bey are legends too. Incredible track.
Some lesser known Mos Def tracks that are amazing: "Next Universe" "If You Can Huh You Can Hear" "Universal Magnetic" And his feature on De La Soul's song "Big Brother Beat" One of the best to ever do it. You can feel he puts effort into every line, no filler
How about some Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli)? You could check out one of these songs: Definition, Respiration, Astronomy (8th Light), Thieves in the Night, etc...
This song gives me early 2000s wartime vibes, imagine being a young 19 year old soldier and hearing this in your ipod shuffle while on tour. Mos Def should be spoken about more often like this from my generation.
Still remember mos def on sound stage. I think it was a show on MTV. I knew he'd blow up after that. I already watched this a while ago. Loved your reaction. This song was so sick, I was surprised it didn't have airtime. ❤️❤️❤️
26 year old white boy from Texas, grew up with mostly rock and some rap, I love rap but in highschool I got sick of all the popular rap music degrading into the same tired cycle of sex drugs and violence. Luckily i discovered old masters of the game like mos def, gang Starr, Nas, big l, big pun, mf doom, biggie smalls, some of the most raw and beautiful music I've ever heard
Preach. Mos Def and Talib introduced me to the underground hip hop scene back in the day. You gotta react to Respiration by Black Star ft. Common. One of the most underrated albums and songs EVER.
Crazy how Ahmad's knowledge and curiosity of Hip-Hop is nearly identical to mine while I grew up during the golden age. Great to see and hope he can carry it forward.
K-os man! DO THAT SHIT! He came up in the underground in the 90s. Found his path in the 2000s. There is PRACTICALLY NO ONE reacting to this dude. I try blowing up certain channels with his name. So far with no luck...... Show K-os some love man!
This is an insane song. Deff is amazing, I always go back to this song in particular. This song is like better than anything Jedi Mind Tricks made. IMO
@@mistahmst You are right. But yeah that's where I first heard sound like Mac Dre. Being that it was Slick Rick, I figured that may have the key people was influenced by for his reinvention during the thizz era.
Fortified Live - Reflection Eternal or Redefinition - Black Star also come to mind listening to Mos. I used to spin the drum and bass remixes by Pish Posh on Rawkuts, the dnb offshoot of Rawkus. Thanks for giving Mos a listen.
As a matter of fact sad to say I didn't know about MF DOOM until Mos Def video praising him so much... And then I checked it out didn't like it but came back to DOOM later , and was like oooooooooooohhhhhhhh
Btw, your "whats going down" intro to all your videos reminds me of another super group every time you do it - Boot Camp Click's *Let's Get Down 2 Bizness* ...it starts with a slightly off mic "Its going down" as well. You should check it out too! Phenomenal song. Lyrics so tight, as BBC was simularly known for
I’d recommend respiration, by black star. It’s him and Talib featuring common. And speed law is pretty good, from black album. “There’s a city full of walls to post complaints at”
Mos Def has one of the coolest sounding voices in rap music
and Q-Tip! 2 of my faves.
And Del The Funky Homosapien and Q-Tip
He’s crazy underrated
T h e b e a t
Definitely does. Much respect to him.

It's like Christmas after Christmas.

Damn that's so true and he ain't getting the recognition he should have
I can’t tell you how cool it is watching some dude 25 years younger than me gettin hyped on a Mos Def, Madlib and Slick Rick joint. There is hope in the world. That track is insanely good. “Y’all know what it is…”
This is a gold bar of a song mos def and slick Rick with a madlib beat. Can't be beat.

Rick killed that no question🔥
Slick Rick really came on there fire af
Madlib is a living legend. I don't think anyone can match his depth of knowledge and level of output. Slick Rick and Yasin Bey are legends too. Incredible track.
"Ms Fatbooty" by Mos Def! React to that!
Story telling at it's finest...!
For real for real... that'll be be ggod one
Yo! A story tellin' masterpiece 🙌

I glad you got that wisdom and elevated yourself with the lyrical content of a most vicious beat!
This beat is off the album Beat Konducta In India. The thing is worth a listen on its own. Also, check out Madlib's younger brother, Oh No.
This is my favorite song ever
I was listening to this my senior year when it released. Such a dope song on a dope album
How about some Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli)? You could check out one of these songs: Definition, Respiration, Astronomy (8th Light), Thieves in the Night, etc...
Bet 🔥🔥
Yeah. And the first three tracks on Talib's Quality album too! ( *Rush, Get By, and Shock Body* )
...what a freaking track run that was
@@sobr4986 Can’t mention the Quality album with Guerrilla Monsoon Rap!
@@KingAhmadTv Thieves in the night is one of the most lyrically deep song of all time that is still relevant today, it's a literal masterpiece.

This is a classic album
I miss Mos making records.
This song gives me early 2000s wartime vibes, imagine being a young 19 year old soldier and hearing this in your ipod shuffle while on tour. Mos Def should be spoken about more often like this from my generation.
Vinnie paz was in my Playlist. "Jedi mind tricks - age of the sacred terror"
OMG Ric is so fucking smooth. Gelato smooth.

Definitely criminal for him ( Mos Def) not being mentioned
Life in Marvelous Times by Mos Def too. Off this same album.
Eyy this song just reminds me working graveyard shifts cutting plastic out in a factory. Shit was in the Playlist every night
Has to be one of the greatest beats in hip hop history

Revelations from the same album, the ecstatic, is pretty great but short. There’s a sweet bass lick and a marimba on the backing track too
