I immediately thought of grabbing XB12 as soon as I was made aware that there’s a new version out. But after this video I am sure gonna stick to my XB10
I bought the XB10 after hearing it at a rehab session, and I am very happy with it. It has a full, rich sound, and importantly it doesn't have the irritatingly high treble response that most small speakers have. To my ears this irritation is exactly what the XB12 has, as well as a much higher introductory price, so I'm glad I didn't buy it.
I like the NFC touch n go feature of my xb10.. I'll start my fav music app on my phone and then just touch my phone to the speaker and Voilà! automatic instant music blast.
Thanks for the comparison. I just got an XB12 for Christmas and am quite impressed with the sound. There is great detail and clarity in the highs and mids. And your comment regarding the bass being set up properly to avoid muddiness in the mids is right on target. Keep up he good work. Going to subscribe.
We have to remember older iPhone models don't have NFC and not every android has NFC. So for the most part I think dropping NFC isn't a huge lost and also could be the reason they aren't so expensive... well at least I think they're not🤔😂😂

Mike Hancock I suspect this is why he says it sounds ‘less muddy’. They intentionally took away some of the mids to give it a cleaner sound and less distortion, but to me this makes it sound more flat. I prefer the xb10.

@@amazingthing7379 I've had my xb10 for over a month now and love it. I have never felt it sounds distorted or muddy. The xb12 sounds a bit clearer, but that's only because they dropped the mid frequencies a bit, so it sounds like a smaller speaker in my opinion. If you want a fuller sound then go with the xb10, if you want slightly clearer bass and vocals but a smaller/thinner sound then go with the xb12. I personally much preferred the xb10 after listening to both in person, but I'm sure different people will have different preferences.

Stereo from a channel does not exist. Stereo means listening to different channels from different points. It's like listening to the guitar on the right and another guitar on the left. In monophonic sound, all in one direction there is no Stereo sound. It is a good commercial trick to sell more audio but it is not Stereo effect.
Age of Doom are you sure about that? Because when you pair two of the headsets, one of them becomes Left and the other one is Right. Open one ot those stereo test video from youtube and you’ll see sound changes between them depending on the sound direction.

@@AgeofDoom No there are two separate modes. Mono where both speakers play the same thing, and stereo where they do split up the channels. At least that's according to the marketing.
I think it's a good improvement. I know people are still gonna go with the xb10 because of its upper bass but the 12 is way cleaner. I will definitely be comparing it to those two. XB402g? That's news to me 🤔

The xb10’s rubbery ring/stand thing stops it from bouncing around and resonating when placed on a surface, i can’t see the xb12’s daft strap providing the same function though. I’ll stick with the two paired xb10s i have. I keep wishing you could link up more than two of them, or link two xb10s to one of the bigger xb40s as satellite speakers.
I currently have the XB10... I accidentally got a XB12 assuming it was the XB10 because I wanted a Second one to have stereo surround sound. And well let me tell you this... If you love bass and treble as much as I do.. I highly highly recommend the Xb10... The xb12 is honestly just super high pitch and focused to much on mids.. I don't like too too much highs and mids.. and that's all the XB12 delivers, with not as powerful bass as the XB10.. also the design sucks on the XB12👎.. (FYI) in order to pair two together, they MUST be the same model.. [XB10 + XB10] - [XB12 + XB12].
Lol don't listen to this guy, I just got an XB12 a week ago and the design is same as XB10 but the difference is the base and clarity. XB12 has better base, better mids and highs. XB10 gives an illusion of more base because it's highs and mids are shit. XB12 has a more natural base and overall sounds more complete
As a musician, the XB12 is too screechy... Not an "allusion" dummy... Look up the wattage and PI output. Clearly you're subliminal towards true sound.. and no, the design is different... The grill and the speaker are different. The straps are different. The line going around the edges of the buttons are different... Do your homework before bashing on something you clearly don't know enough of.

It maybe screechy FOR YOUR LIKING but the speaker will definitely burn in. XB12 is overall a superior sounding speaker with that far better bass. If you don't like quality bass then go for XB10
I cant stop saying it but the XBX0 lineup beats the X1 and X2 lineup.. The XB10 has more bass but sounds much more balanced with great mids and more detailed highs. The XB12 sounds tinny and bad.
Thanks - listening to this through Sony WH-1000XM3 and the XB10 does sound more muddy. But...You missed a major detail, and I mean major. The plastic mount on the strap of the XB10 is designed to allow the speaker to be used in its proper rotation i.e landscape on its side. For some reason Sony never made it clear, that the SB10 strap doubles as a stand so the speaker is not being distorted by standing vertical. The XB12 no longer has that option meaning that you have to stand it up as in your test videos. The XB10 sounds better when it is horizontal than vertical so I have no idea why Sony has forced the user to stand the speaker up. For the money, I'd get another XB10. You should test this with both speakers horizontal because yes, the XB12 sounds cleaner but the XB10 sound is cleaner when used mounted on the strap horizontal. Value for money, XB12 still no USBC, no NFC shorter wireless range than XB10.Thanks for the clean sound test.

Yeah I went on some weird Bluetooth speaker spending spree awhile back..so I got alot of them...the jbl go 2 beats the Sony xb10 and 12 by a mile!! Same price range also
I have to be honest. I'm using an app that specializes on audio with tons of customisations to make it sound JUST the way you like it. I bet I can create a customized tuning and make them sound identical. All and all though, the 12 sounds clearer and more balanced. Can't wait to get mine tomorrow

I like the xb12. It looks like the refine version of xb10. Base on the video, the sound of the new xb12 is more brighter, clear bass and no distortion at maximun volume. I think, hmmmm I change my mind, I would rather buy the xb12 than to clip3.
Got to this video because my XB-10 got broken after 6 years of usage. However in this video XB-10 still sounds better than XB-12. Now I'm confused what speaker to buy.
i used to own the xb10... 3 of them actually but all stolen... everything about the xb12 is better than xb10 but i liked the smaller slimmer strap on the xb10 personally. the string was slimmer and not much of a big strap as the xb12 has.. but thats just visual they may have got the bigger strap so the strap wont break as easy. but otherwise i want the xb12 now...
I'm watching this vid on the Sony 12 and its pretty clean but at lower volumes the bass on the 10 is far more superior than the 12, and yea the button sucks its soooo difficult to get around but other than that the loudness is great.
I've bought xb10 and I'm very happy with this decision. Because if I can't listen the bass guitar clearly that music is not music for me. And this device has a very good bass sound. But the Sound quality varies depending on the album that you listen for example when I listen to Bob marley songs bass was really too much and sometimes it was muddy. But when I listen to dire straits especially first two albums without eq settings flat audio quality is fantastic. And I must emphasize that 95 percent of the TH-cam music audio quality with xb10 very satisfying to me. Within this price range I think I've bought the best device

It's now 2023 and my little x10 still lives... Sound quality may not be as good as everything else thats on shelf but it's outlived other speakers myself and others have had... even outlived a few BT Party speakers and the battery life is still as good as when I first bought it.. It's my old faithful... reliable... pretty much immortal 😅

The xb10 is more on midbass and disturted unlike the xb12 which has a clean deep bass. Xb12 also has crisp highs so il vote for xb12. Im actually playing the video on my flip4
Does anyone know of any videos that demo sustained bass? Reviews should include music choices that demo sustained bass at various frequencies (like a bowed, upright bass). With popular songs that have a staccato, percussive bass (using the bass more for rhythm than for melody), it is harder to assess the bass frequency, since often a one-note thumping bass will suffice for certain types of music.
I will get xb12 this week although is already a year old. I have my xb20 pair with xz, xz1, z5 and z1 mini(best player for me). some time I pair it with my Asus phone, although the bass not that heavy but you will feel the depth bouncing around. wow man! from this tiny speaker.
In my opinion, XB12 is a downgrade version considering there's no NFC and no other significant add-ons. It's the product coming out for profit rebalancing.

The 12 seems to be tuned better in the treble department. Less muddy, better clarity, imo.

The XB10 strap is actually a stand, where you can put the speaker in an angle instead of standing only.
The xb12 sounds hollow with less bass and mid range but more highs.

XB12 is much better. Clearer sound. XB10 sound like a metallic can.

It's now 2023 and my little x10 still lives...
Sound quality may not be as good as everything else thats on shelf but it's outlived other speakers myself and others have had... even outlived a few BT Party speakers and the battery life is still as good as when I first bought it..
It's my old faithful... reliable... pretty much immortal 😅

Maybe I'm a bit biased 'cause I have XB10, but its still my winner. I like the deeper bass it has compared to 12. I'm going to buy a twin brother to pair it with. In South Africa the 10s cost more than the 12s but I'm still going for the 10

The xb10 is more on midbass and disturted unlike the xb12 which has a clean deep bass. Xb12 also has crisp highs so il vote for xb12. Im actually playing the video on my flip4

I will get xb12 this week although is already a year old. I have my xb20 pair with xz, xz1, z5 and z1 mini(best player for me). some time I pair it with my Asus phone, although the bass not that heavy but you will feel the depth bouncing around. wow man! from this tiny speaker.
