    Kathleen Turner/William Hurt in Body Heat(1981) had the chemistry that is lacking in this movie.
    Joseph, I love the renaming of actors you do and it’s even better when it drives Nick slightly crazy.
    Thanks guys for always making your reviews so fun to watch.

    The title cards remind me of that comic strip Golden Girls comment where Dorothy said, "I haven't read "Apartment 3G" since 1961." And Blanche goes, "Oh, well, let me catch you up. It is later the same day." 😂

    I liked the ending because I thought the romance between Connor and Marilyn to be so cliched that I didn't by it. It did seem to be done on a very low budget and quickly. I give it a three out of 10. Good enough to get through but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

    I can't stand Neil LaBute. I remember really liking In The Company of Men when it came out so it was really confusing to me that so many of his later movies are as bad as they are. But I revisited it more recently and realized that it actually sucks just as bad as his recent stuff. He's always sucked, as it turns out.

    *That girl **_was_** her stepdaughter. Kruger's character is referring to the husband/her father as the one who did "get in the way" of their love.*
    *I despise ageism, and actually appreciate the pairing for multiple reasons. You do make a good point that they needed to make her more appealing, in order to sell her allure, namely the stepdaughter's attraction to her.* That beach scene, particularly the rear view of her, was not at all flattering and did her no favors. Still, the guy was lonely and somewhat ostracized, so I understand his desperate attraction. But the stepdaughter's made very little sense.
    *I'm surprised that you did not mention the ending glance, seemingly hinting that she was would eventually, kill or set up the stepdaughter as well. Especially coupled with the fateful parting words: "You **_promise?"... "I promise." That_** is what sold her as a femme fatale.*
    (As did the likelihood that it was her calling him, knowing that his dumb ass would at that time be in front of police and try to answer; essentially setting him up for suicide-by-cop, which was _very_ devious.)*
    The film- albeit visually beautiful, set in a somewhat lush sleepy-town- was absolutely derivative, lazy, a bit shallow, slow at times, and the sex scenes seemed gratuitous (though they were likely used to push the narrative of his desperate attraction).
    _Still, I did_ enjoy the film.

    • @9xixix9
      @9xixix9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for saying that. I was surprised they missed the last glance and obvious echoing quote of “I promise” which hints to her continuing to do the same to the step daughter since she only has access to her money as an executor until the girl turns 25.
