I got one back in 2019. Recently, I had a guitar tech at a music store replace the pickups with hot rails, making the bass sound much better. It sounds like studio quality. The bass is great to play and very comfortable.
2022 Update: My Bronco Bass is now fretless. I had my bass converted as a fretless by a guitar tech at a local music store, despite the high costs in USDs. The bass is now one of the best I've own right now as I brought it to recent gigs. It's totally a unique work of art for a fretless.
Yeah, nice bass. Anything that has a Duo-Sonic/Mustang vibe is ace in my books. The Squier Vintage Modified SS Jag Bass short scale is a good axe too. Got one in silver for my eldest when he has twelve, still in use today, although he has a Jazz bass now as well.
I had this bass back in the early to mid 2000s. I remember is being very neck heavy (takes a dive when playing on a strap). No skunkstripe. It was good for playing Placebo baselines (the ones which used a bass VI).
Did you have the late 90s model? The earlier ones (1997-1998) were made without the skunk stripes in the back of the neck. All the rest of the models since 1999 are madewith the skunk stripes if I'm correct.
@@joel_anderson_t no skunk stripe. It was very cheap off eBay, and honestly wasn't very good sounding. I replaced the strat pickup with a double blade single coil sized humbucker, sounded better
@@attentionaddicts I see. I still got my Bronco Bass I ordered back in September 2019. I was also not very satisfied with the humming noise due to the single-coil pickups. I instead got an well-made Korean hotrail pickup to replace the original one. I eventually had a local music store guitar tech do a beautiful fretless conversion earlier this year. The bass now sounds like studio quality for a now-fretless budget bass, despite of the time and money I spent for the projects. I'm trying to make some fretless bass cover videos with that bass whenever I get the chance.
@Joel Anderson that sounds really good, would love to hear it! I installed the hotrails pickup myself - got my dad to do the soldering lol. After that it was very mid-heavy sound. I think I also had some issues with intonation so didn't use it for gigs (also had a Squier J bass). In the end I sold it again on eBay
@@attentionaddicts Thanks for the reply. I will try at the very least to share how the fretless Bronco Bass will sound as I couldn't find how it sounds like before the conversion. I looked up for videos here on TH-cam and elsewhere. The problem is, I have a job, and some bills to pay. But I ain't giving up as I need to share it! Thanks again!
I used to have Fender Musicmaster Bass which was very similar to this! The single pickup was a little weak compared to precision PUPs and I didn't like the short scale. Funny though, I Iike shorter scale guitars. Apparently in the day it was a common mod to fit precision pickups.
Looks so cool and comfortable, plus it sounds great, I have a squier jazz bass and I love the sound but I never liked the fact that it's too big (I'm a guitar player)
I am a somewhat seasoned bass player who has developed poorer motor skills. Short-scale base has been a solution. (And short-scale basses actually sound fantastic!?). I already have a Danelectro longhorn which is great. But a bass with "classic" Fender sound is needed. I have very bad finances these days I'm such a music snob and would never buy this bass even if it sounds ok. (Although I really would like to). I'm a fool!
Heres me and my bronco I used when i did little Japanese tour with bristol punk band the stingrays, i took the neck off so it would in my suitcase on plane and put it back together in japan th-cam.com/video/E1LYr7D7cbE/w-d-xo.html

Got the wife one a few years back, she's still learning on it and loves it!! I too added a hot rails and it woke it up big time!
Ooh nice sounds like a good mod 🤘🎸
Mod that fiddle!!! You got this!
I've been thinking of getting a bass and this really fits the bill. ie. short scale and inexpensive. Looks cool too.
Supercool review just purchased that bass😊

Umming and arring about getting a Sonic Bronco bass tomorrow but I think your little New Year's Day cover might have swayed me 😬
Definitely worth getting one 👌
Not often we see you play U2 Rob,epic bass line from New Years Day. Great review as always 👍🇬🇧🎸
Copyright mainly 🤣 glad you enjoyed it 🎸🤘
Perfect for my short stubby fingers. Love it.
Great little bass guitars 🎸💯
Squier makes some great basses! I love my Squier Affinity P/J bass. It's the best of both worlds. It only cost me about $230usd.
They sure so do 🤘🎸 I love them Affinity PJ basses killer sound and play great
Good for everybody.

Rock on 🎸👌

Sounds better than I imagined it would. Bit torn between this and the Gio Mikro Bass.
Sweet sounding bass, like the short scale length, what’s not to love at that price points
It's a hipsters dream
I believe the pickup is squier strat pickup under plain cover just how musicmaster bass used strat pickup
I just found that out on Wikipedia lol! I has a Fender Musicmaster and they used left over parts including a 6 pole Strat pickup.
Fender used the pickups as in the Mustang, Musicmaster and Bronco guitars.

i’m thinking of starting learning how to play bass, do you recommend this one as my first one?
What song you are playing at 2:38? Or it’s a riff? I’m really in love with that :)
Found it, it’s U2 New Year’s Day
You got it 🤘🎸
Please make a video about this bass vs Ibanez TMB30 🙏
Already have 2 years ago

That's a perfect first Bass for sure for a beginner I need one like yesterday!! 😂
If you had one guitar to keep what would it be
Any kind of Jazzmaster (squier mini Jazzmaster excluded 😂)

Saw one of these in Crack Converters last year for £150. Gave it a miss.
Dang they're almost that new, can pick em up used for about £70
