One thing I've been thinking about for face offs is that we need a new metric to measure them. We realized that +/- was a bad stat, and advanced stats evolved to compensate for that. FOW% is in that state right now. I'd like to see a new advanced stat develop that measures the effectiveness of their face offs accordingly. Maybe a weighted stat that measures wins depending on situation, like a higher value for a face off win in situations like offensive zone powerplay, or defensive zone penalty kill. Possibly a higher value depending on other situations like wins while down a goal in the final minute to measure how clutch a player can be when it matters the most. That kind of stat would show to both fans interested in the stats and team executives looking at trades to fill holes in the lineup more effectively. It answers what player might be most effective to put on the ice depending on what situation they are in.
I agree w the smart & handsome hosts: my frustration is TOI. In the Finals, Maurice won by spreading TOI more evenly than Knoblauch, who leaned heavily on his top guys & Bednar likes to do this too. JB said: "I'll play Val 40m if I have to!" Well, it seems like guys like Val can't handle the pressure & load.
So glad to hear y'all say for once that the Avalanche need size (23min). The Avs don't need an enforcer. THEY NEED SIZE and GRIT just to survive the playoffs. The front office is purposely going ultra small through the whole lineup. That's not going to end with a cup.
One thing I'll say I'm a bit pessimistic about is their consistency. I don't know if it was something mental or physical but I never understood how they could win 7-9 games in a row but then the next 9 they only win one and lose any advantage in their division. And that was before and after the TDL so im not sure what they'll do about that. Maybe it has something to do with straining the top line. But I'm not sure.
Kyle is on to something about the Avs way. Chicago 3 Cups Pitt 2 Cups, over a decade of playoffs Tampa 2 Cups, 3 Trips to SC finals Florida 2 consecutive trips, 1 win
nuggets and avalanche seemed to have lost that dynasty potential I was hoping for two years ago. Oh well, the struggle to return to dominance will still be compelling. Looking forward to autumn sports season
Only thing I fret over would be wearing out Georgie again. The Dude needs breaks during the season. (Edit: took the graphic to mean that Shaggy is our depth)
Who are these people who see Kovelenko on the second line? I didn't see anything from him that would guarantee that he makes the team much less be a second-liner.

That definitely was a running theme from last year that I hope does not carry over to this one
The Avalanche way lol

I am not optimistic. 😢

Shags...is Colton a good player? We lost Cog...is Ross an answer to anything?
Jury is still out on that

Not a fan of this one guys
It had to be done lol
@@shaggyvondoom @quinnhockey412 Some people can't stand reality.
Only one reason to be pessimistic: Nichuskin is still around and hasn't been sent packing.
