What makes getting more contact the peak of efficiency if it's at the cost of quality of contact? They don't go off of analytics at random for funsies, they go off of analytics because they prove that playing in a certain way leads to scoring more runs. Now yes, offense as a whole is going down, but that's because pitchers keep throwing harder and with more spinrate, not because hitters decided to be dumber.

The pitching thing was actually shown in a manga called One Outs. In the manga, the main team's owner/player had his players pitch the ball at full speed. when it was his turn to pitch, everyone had been given so many fastballs that when they tried to hit his ball, they were unable to do so. I think we are seeing a real life version of this happen because pitchers are taught to toss fast in the MLB so now it's starting to affect batters

Sad you didn’t mention the legacy outing Jose Cuas had for the blue jays. Intentional walk. 1st pitch 2 run single, 2nd pitch hit a batter, 3rd pitch hit another batter and a run came in. Then got pulled
This season is just awful. Everyone was a seller at the most boring deadline because nobody is good. Seattle has ZERO guys over .800 ops. ZERO good hitters and they are in the playoff race. That's how bad the MLB is right now. The 2 defending champions will miss the playoffs. It feels completey randomized, and just low-quality in terms of lineups. There are maybe 2 lineups that actually make you want to watch the games on TV right now.
throwing this out there as a Braves fan, english is Jorge Lopez' second language and there was some follow up comments to clarify that he felt misquoted in this interview. there was a clarifying comment by the interviewer but I think his emotions were high after a bad outing and his imminent DFA later that day.
I'm starting to suspect the umps are widening the strike zone at key moments and that's affecting overall batting averages. I don't have any proof but just that it seems like when there is a mistake by the ump, it's more likely to be a ball called a strike than a strike called a ball. It could be that balls in the zone are less likely to be taken and therefore there's fewer opportunities for the ump to call a strike a ball though.
You didn't even cover how messed up the AL West is, the mariners having the best pitching and the worst hitting, the mariners losing a 10 game division lead in record fashion.
I'll chalk up those league-wide decreases in offensive performance to the Mariners and how they collectively forgot how to do anything but strike out from mid/late-June to mid/late-July.
I’m a Mets fan. Watching them go from genuine trash to one of the best offensive teams in the month of June was absolutely awesome. It was genuinely getting watching their good pitching and bad offends and I think it’s a nice change
Pitchers leveled up. Meanwhile hitting focused on homers, making for terrible swing habits. Homerun hitters always have the worst strikeout stats to go with their homers. Make everyone attempt to be homer hitters, but aren't, and you just get poorly-arced swings that miss more, instead of folks hitting through the ball. But even then, pitchers have too many better pitches now they're fine tuning with analytics.
The Grimace was originally introduced by McDonald's in 19 and 71 as "The Evil Grimace." He looked mostly the same, but had FOUR (4) arms that he used to steal milkshakes from unsuspecting patrons, thus the "evil" moniker. In the years that followed, TEG either gradually changed or had a come-to-Jesus moment, but to be sure, he changed for the better, i.e., to the cute, cuddly, affable, and lovable Grimace we know today. Thank you for reading, and please help spread this message of goodwill.
The d-backs not being mentioned is crazy considering they were battling with the Rockies for last in the division and are currently having the best record in baseball and on pace to take one of wild card spots
Im a bit surprised that you didnt mention the padres and dbacks as their race has been incredibly entertaining. How 2 teams are able to get hot at the exact same time and have been 1 game within each other for a whole month. Also just the insanity about how quickly they climbed the rankings, once again, at the same time. Although this video was 2 weeks ago so. Great video anyway.
I have seen this trend since last year and I stopped watching when I saw the Mets all hitting below 270. Outrageous. Back in the 90s the whole team would be in the minor leagues.
If the MLB wants more offense, maybe they should maybe move the mound back a foot or 2 so batters have more time to react to a pitch and help them get more contact on the ball
Bro!! Phenomenal video!! Bringing so many different storylines and recaps into one place...really well done and I cant imagine the amount of work that went into this.
Bro i blame pitchers having nasyy stuff and umpires being so bad they cant tell what they are seeing half the time. The number of blown call ive seen across so many different stadiums this season is wild.
So the blow out with the position players seems to be easy to explain. If you are up a lot then you'll swing at anything just to get the game over with quicker. Doesn't matter if you get out or not.
Celebrate only after you win. Knock off 'showing up' anything at all. Play every play like it's the last one to clinch. And, finally, after making them run ladder sprints in front of the paying fans, bench the lazy. You know, play baseball. The actual game. Not the 'internet presence before effort' or video game versions. Problem solved.

Sad you didn’t mention the legacy outing Jose Cuas had for the blue jays. Intentional walk. 1st pitch 2 run single, 2nd pitch hit a batter, 3rd pitch hit another batter and a run came in. Then got pulled
Because we’re talking about relevant things
And to think he was traded for a guy who hit almost 20 home runs in a month
Fantastic video dude!! Thank you for keeping me up to date on a sport that doesn’t exist
Crazy how much information over something that doesn’t even exist
This season is just awful. Everyone was a seller at the most boring deadline because nobody is good.
Seattle has ZERO guys over .800 ops. ZERO good hitters and they are in the playoff race. That's how bad the MLB is right now. The 2 defending champions will miss the playoffs. It feels completey randomized, and just low-quality in terms of lineups. There are maybe 2 lineups that actually make you want to watch the games on TV right now.
I love how he does this video every years with a eerie simpler title
These r my favorite vids do more!
The amount of times he said “baseball game” in one ad read is insane
throwing this out there as a Braves fan, english is Jorge Lopez' second language and there was some follow up comments to clarify that he felt misquoted in this interview. there was a clarifying comment by the interviewer but I think his emotions were high after a bad outing and his imminent DFA later that day.
Here after the Yankees swept the Phillies lol
yep😂
Me it sucks😊
i was there for it
My Phills are slumping HARD but damn the Yanks have an insane lineup
Baseball used to be fun before 2007, especially in the 90s. Not sure what this is they're putting on the field now smh.
Baseball was at it's absolute best from 1994-2007. Power Era Baseball is Peak Baseball...
I sonnt think I‘ve ever seen a Thumbnail that caught my attention more
I’m a Mets fan. Watching them go from genuine trash to one of the best offensive teams in the month of June was absolutely awesome. It was genuinely getting watching their good pitching and bad offends and I think it’s a nice change
As a Mets fan, I love the thumbnail.
thanks for not talking about the Guardians, current best record in baseball
Another banger from BBDE!
Small grammar thing though bro: 13:35 Ohtani is having a *historic season. Historical means having to do with history 😅
Can we talk about that Jarren Duran is becoming a very good superstar for the Red Sox and becoming way better along the way.
He never saw it coming
Pitchers leveled up. Meanwhile hitting focused on homers, making for terrible swing habits. Homerun hitters always have the worst strikeout stats to go with their homers. Make everyone attempt to be homer hitters, but aren't, and you just get poorly-arced swings that miss more, instead of folks hitting through the ball. But even then, pitchers have too many better pitches now they're fine tuning with analytics.
You're just described the Celeveland Guardians...
“Nobody can fix the Mets”
Grimace: Hold my shake
“Hold my shake” 😂😂😂
The Grimace was originally introduced by McDonald's in 19 and 71 as "The Evil Grimace." He looked mostly the same, but had FOUR (4) arms that he used to steal milkshakes from unsuspecting patrons, thus the "evil" moniker. In the years that followed, TEG either gradually changed or had a come-to-Jesus moment, but to be sure, he changed for the better, i.e., to the cute, cuddly, affable, and lovable Grimace we know today. Thank you for reading, and please help spread this message of goodwill.
He goes on and on about this sport that doesn't exist
I’m surprised there wasn’t a mention of The Dodgers anime night
Guardians are full of literal Triple A hitters plus Jose Ramirez and have the best record in baseball
Glad the splitter is back that was my favorite pitch
The d-backs not being mentioned is crazy considering they were battling with the Rockies for last in the division and are currently having the best record in baseball and on pace to take one of wild card spots
Yeah, they've had a disastrous amount of injuries too, the starters and bullpen have been totally unpredictable.
You know its a good day when BDE uploads 🔥
Phillies are now 3-10 since the All Star break, Atlanta is catching up
I have harper. Holy shit is this painful. I now have to bench him
I feel like he made this a week ago bc some teams are slipping off a cliff this week
It's absurd that you brought up Livvy Dunne but not the Guardians, bro.
Paul Skenes is basically a Road to the Show pitcher in real life with that lethal arsenal of pitches
I have seen this trend since last year and I stopped watching when I saw the Mets all hitting below 270.
Outrageous.
Back in the 90s the whole team would be in the minor leagues.
Pitching has evolved so much since the 1990s-2000s. This isn't the Steroid Era anymore...
That Joez McFly clip is hilarious
Not many hitters in MLB any longer, only crushers. Welcome to the show.
Ive been saying this…MLB EFFED with the balls again. Be interesting to see if more hitters than pitchers are hitting free agency this year.
I love how 2/3rds of the video was New York and LA. How original. You know other things happened outside those two cities right?
To be clear, I love this channel, but this video was rather disappointing.
Why would they not want to juice their stats to make more money
Celebrate only after you win. Knock off 'showing up' anything at all. Play every play like it's the last one to clinch. And, finally, after making them run ladder sprints in front of the paying fans, bench the lazy. You know, play baseball. The actual game. Not the 'internet presence before effort' or video game versions. Problem solved.
