I had a 1987 Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocast built in the Custom Shop at Fender . I sold it to a surgeon in Toronto . 🇨🇦🎸 .... Aliexpress now makes a Malmsteen Strat for about $350
The attention to finishing detail is definitely superb especially the neck and the scolloping, I’ve owned 4 different Custom Shop Nocaster and 3 Stratocaster’s and were all brilliantly made guitars , only one Nocaster was a heavy relic and the rest were of a slight relic. What I’ve always thought about though when I look back is , why does it take a master luthier at both Fender and Gibson Custom Shop to automatically build period accurate guitars from the 50’s etc and nit just the relic work but attention to detail on carves , binding and colour of binding etc of guitars that pretty much were built by factory workers and back in the 50’s the guitars were all slightly different in neck profiles and contours ? Yep those desirable and extremely expensive guitars were all just factory guitars but now it takes a master luthier to build them ? What can’t Fender and Gibson just build them accurately given modern machinery and technology just build either a relic or NOS version at the relevant price those original guitars were sold for in the 50’s
None of the Malmsteen Custom Shops (Vintage White, Burgundy Mist, Candy Apple Red, Sonic Blue) have a written review on Sweetwater’s website. Please post one.
I just bought a 2024 rosewood fretboard Yngwie USA Stratocaster. I had ABSOLUTELY no QC issues with it at all. It is the best Strat I have ever had. I have had 5 USA strats in my lifetime dating all the way back to 1987 when I bought my first (American Standard) as a teenager. It by far is the best quality instrument I have had from Fender.
Actually, Yngwie's strats had the original 7 1/4 fretboard radius from the time he started using strats (mid to late '70's) up well into the '80's. His signature models have a 9 1/2 fingerboard radius, and seems to be what he currently prefers. His preference in pickups has changed as well......imo, the earlier the better, 'cause up until sometime in '84, Yngwie used Dimarzio FS1 pickups, which sound WAY better than the HS3 or the Duncan Fury pickups. The FS1'S aren't noiseless though. David Gilmour had an FS1 in the bridge of his strat when the 'Wall' was recorded.
@andyhayes7828 he hasn't changed pickup configuration though. I'm talking hsh or hss. And going from 7 1/4 to 9.5 isn't a big jump. Most shredders prefer a flatter radius so I'm just surprised he never went that route
@@Bigboybooya666 He probably got to the 9 1/2 after a few refrets. Scalloped boards leave near nothing when planeing the board on a refret. His fretboard radius transition was probably gradual, though still quite a difference as compared.
I have one of those in Burgandy Mist. Hands down no comparison between the CS version and the American made. Different neck feel, playability is almost effortless, no regrets at all.
I've wanted to hear those YJM pickups clean. Most reviewers go the the overdriven shred mode because Yngwie. A little Eric Johnson clean chording. The pickups sound very stratty in a good way in all the positions.
2 THINGS Marco!!!.....Please, please, please......1) do this in real time......and 2) I'm begging, please make sure you're in frame! hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaha j/k dude, having fun! Always enjoy the reviews and GREATLY appreciate the time you take to educate us!!!
Hello my brother. The G10 battery was dead so I used Vive as it was on the couch ready to go. Was good enough for this case range but otherwise G10 always first choice!
Beautifully done! That is the SWEETEST TONE and SUSTAIN i have heard on a TH-cam video!! How do you compare it to your EVH Wolfgang? When you have time please do a video and review of your #1 pedal board. I enjoy learning from you! Thanks Marko!
Hi Marco-great video as always. Curious if you’ve had issues with the high E string slipping off the fretboard? Fenders seem to be hit/miss with that problem so thought I’d ask before spending that kind of coin.
Nice guitar, that high E thing is overrated, you get used to it and believe it or not I'd miss it! I don't know if that's a case of drinking my own cool aid, but I love my YJM it's flawless other than the thick body finish. It's hard to justify the CS model price, I did watch your first video and you were right the first time. I'd miss the truss rod adjustment at the head stock. But I'm sure the CS has awesome wood, and that matters. Thankfully I have my Lentz Croydon Carvetop that slays everything else, literally, every time now.
Necks often shift in shipping. You just need to loosen the bolts on the neck slightly and shift it back, then tighten it up. That one in the Sweetwater, the US model, that's likely all it needs. My Wolfgang Stealth arrived to me slightly shifted, as did an American Pro II Strat, but both were perfect with 1 mins effort. Not to suggest the Custom Shop isn't better - my AM Pro II wasn't as nice as the Custom Shop closet classic I sold (and regretted).
I like it, but would have prefered the '70's one piece neck with bullet rod over the '68/'69 style lamenated board with the rod adjustment at the heel.
My guess is that Fender wanted to stay as true as possible to Yngwie's originals. Edit: I think Yngwie's originals had the slightly unstable 3 bolt neck plate. Maybe for playability's sake, this one has the standard 4 bolt plate.

Beautiful . . . Thanks to Yngwie The Fender Strat has become a symbol of focus and determination.
Thank you for the video!

Well said!

That's one awesome looking Strat Marko. When you cracked that case i was like...PERFECTION! Credit James with the assist😂❤
Yngwie and Eddie were the man when I was growing up in the 80's.

No way your USA version doesn't have the high E issue?
@@THEVATICANTS Except that😆. However the quality is top notch.

Appreciate you bro. Your dedication and passion. 🤘🏻🎸🔥
It's amazing malmsteen never experimented with radius and pickup configurations since day one

He also plays with crazy high action!!! So, no worry about fretting out when bending which is the main issue with a 7.25" radius guitar!

great video! love all the detailed shots :)
Thanks for sharing your new guitar day!! Sounds amazing!!!
Great. Just looking at the fretboard alone said,as you put it,next level Custom Shop.

Something ASMR about these reviews
Congratulations man! Sounds pretty!
Hey Marko. Da' Bruiser here. Any specific reason you plugged in the X-Vive with the YJM instead of the G10? God Bless.

Yeah, they fixed it on this one but regular USA versions all have this issue.
Great !! Thanks for this video 😀😀

It's more than just the shift. They use vintage neck with modern trem. That's the reason why on all of them the high E is always an issue.
@@THEVATICANTS I see. Thanks Marko

$7,050 Canadian Dollars ... 🎸🇨🇦 Way too expensive unless you can play Malmsteens music ... now you need a Malmsteen Marshall amp
He has one. It’s in this video.
This color the buttercream looks a little but white and sometimes yellow .
Not for me. Gloss poly on the neck ruins it. And why the vintage trust rod?

@@finishin.my.coffee8780that’s exactly it.
It’s actually awesome. It’s very thin and wears off after about 50 hours and feels fantastic.
11:18 I don't understand, what is rare about the string spacing?
It’s rare on the yjm model as described in the video.
