Reading a book called Jutland 1916: Death in the Grey Wastes about the Battle of Jutland, and this video makes for great background noise while reading! Thank you for this, great WW1 period ambience
Its nice to hear some Arthur Fields in the mix, his WW1 are abundant. "Lets Bury the Hatchet" is among my favorites. My grandfather was a Lieutenant in the Army air corp, a pilot and signal officer in WW1. I have his records, a few I've posted on my victrola, like Over There by Arthur Fields and Enrico Caruso. Lovely video, enjoyed the ambiance very much.
Watched the original All Quiet and 1917 after going on a WW1 kick so bought the book for All Quiet and The Splintered Empires. This'll be perfect to listen to while reading 😁
Listening to this while I draw some WWI art, this and trench background noise with explosions and thunder is just an experience, thank you for doing this! When I'm done with my art I'll be sure to reply to this comment!
POV: the Great War has been raging on for a year. Your only son is out fighting in the trenches; although you keep faith that he will return - the haunting thoughts of his death in battle reaching you haunt you morning, noon and night. The only thing you can think of to stop the dark thoughts is to listen to music for as long as you can. All the while, you're silently praying and begging to God that he delivers your boy home safe to you.
I want to see a Jack Marston game where he becomes in a rebel in the end of mexican revolution, then he becomes in a soldier and finally in a gangster.
Suggestions if you ever make another: Oh! It's a lovely war, Pack up your troubles, I want a girl (Just like the girl that married dear old dad), and the original non-chordettes version of Hello! Ma baby
When I find those records and enough of other early 1900s records to do so I will, its just a long process to find copies of those songs in the proper format that dont cost me an arm and a leg to collect while also sounding good enough to record
When I somehow get my hands on a French 78 made before 1919 i will add it to my next, longer version. Out of the over thousand records I own, I only have a couple of French ones, and both are from the 20s.
@@Wolfof1918 Thanks, it will be a pleasure to listen to it while playing Victoria 3 as France or reading about WW1. I love being in the "ambiance" when im reading or playing.

John McCormack, my great great cousin sung “it’s a long way to Tipperary”. Honoured to have his name in the family!
Gives me a sense of warmth
Absolutely unique video. I have not found any more videos lasting several hours with music from the time of the First World War

Perfect while playing ww1 game
I recognize part of 26:32 (still finding the name 2)! I couldn't tell you the name of the song's melody, but I think the drum beat is called Army 2/4!
I believe 01:08:03 (Finding the Name 5) is When You Come Back by John McCormack!

thanks so much for this!!!
For playing a boardgame about WW1 it's perfect, thx
now another one with opera, and my happiness is complete....(Puccini, Verdi, Massenet, Saint-Saens...)
It is sad that I could not find all the songs. My favorite music era.
The phonograph is impressively accurate but I am sure fond of the totally existent 1910s radios which are not anachronistic in any fashion
Haha yea the 1930s zenith cathedral radio is a bit out of place
@@Wolfof1918 but I gotta I especially loved the lighting very realistic for old bulbs in my opinion

@hafelord2513 the only added audio is the ambient noise of rain and artillery, the video and music was recorded by yours truly on a 1914 Victrola
