I play this music for people on hospice that are in a very advanced age. It is amazing. They could have very severe memory loss, but the music is still with them. Some even start to sing to the songs. It is incredible how the mind works, even when it is failing horribly. They remember playing a guitar to the music. They remember the women's baseball league during World War II. They remember building bombers. They remember putting scrap metal on their driveways for the war metal drives. But they do not remember people, places, how to do things. Music seems to be the thing that stays with all of them no matter what.

I'll never forget when my great grandfather took me to the VFW for the first time, in remembrance of his father that fought in World War One. Daughters of the American Revolution benefit... Glenn Miller, Bob Crosby, all the greats, and others I'd never heard of. He was in the U.S. Navy during the war, survived Pearl Harbor aboard the Arizona. Went on to be posted to her sister ship, the Pennsylvania. He met a fellow sailor there that was on the West Virginia, and they became fast friends. Watching those two old men talk about their youth, that's where I discovered my love for the peace they, along with countless other allied men and women, fought so hard for to achieve.
I'm in the Navy now, and I can't wait to see him at the VFW again someday.

I was three years old when America got into the war. I remember when I was five we visited my dad in a VA hospital in Kentucky and they were playing Rum and Coca Cola (Andrew Sisters) on the sound system in the cafeteria. My aunt told me when a metals collector came to my grandma's front door, she handed him a metal tea kettle and told him to hit old Hitler between the eyes with it. She had five boys in the service. This kind of music is my favorite, it's delightful but sometimes it brings tears to my eyes when I think of such a mind-boggling war
that brought such suffering to the world. I am a dedicated WWII buff. With all the books and dvds and magazines I have on the war I sometimes wonder how we got through it.

I know she wanted to be with my grandfather in heaven on their anniversary. My Pap served in WWII, he was a sailor and loved this music. As a little girl I remember him listening to this on the turntable wanting me to dance with him. For an 11 year old you express yourself beautifully, I hope your parents realise what a special young person they have created. Both my Grandfathers died before I was born and both served on the Western front in WW1 so I really regret not having been able to speak with them. My My best wishes to you.

Damn, it’s the best music I have listened to. Sends me back an entire era. The exspernce mentally is amazing when you just sitting in a room listening to what very well may be the music people died to listening from the corner of their living rooms as those rooms no longer become living.

Listening to Gracie Fields singing "Wish Me Luck" it suddenly occurred to me that there were soldiers in the audience singing along who probably ran out of luck shortly thereafter. But thank God they were willing to make that sacrifice to keep the world free.

Such good music back then. Even though I wasn't born until 2002, the music from this time is so nice. It's not like todays music. It just has it's own style that appeals to me. Thanks for this great playlist! 😃

Great music, but I don't know if these singers were racist, so I don't mess a lot with many 20s and 30s songs. Although, I have a large playlist of the early 1900s.

Music during my grandparents' childhood way back during the 30s and world war II🥰 I know because they listen to this music every Sunday back then during the 90s when they were old and alive 😢😭
They have vinyl records of these songs .
They listen to this while making me a bag of popcorn and coffee with milk (my parents forbid me drinking this because I was growing kid) . It lasted until 1996 because December 1996 was when my grandmother fell into coma and died in October 1997. 😥😭
My grandfather lived longer until 2015 but it wasn't the same when grandma was still with us 😭😭😭😭
