After listening to this entire video, wow. Wish this was available 20 years ago. I no longer shoot compound bows due to shoulders but this will change the world in tournament and hunting. Great job. Bless the knew archers.

This is the best video on the new release that I've seen so far. It would have been nice to have one at ELKSHAPE Camp! But I've got mine now and I'm working through the process. Thanks Joel!

Joel is always very interesting to watch and listen to. I used that release last week and every time I got to the click I flinched. Great video. This should definitely help some people on thinking.

Love how with even as much experience as you have hunting, you are still humble enough to want to get better and be coachable. Thanks for sharing this, I think I need to just bite the bullet and get Joels class. Skill and knowledge weigh nothing.

A boy shot with a finger trigger never have tried a thumb release I wish you guys would talk about what brand it is where you can get it how much it cost but I really like the concept seeing a lot of people use thumb releases haven't heard too many people talk about where they got them how much they cost so on and so forth

Great video! Super informative. The point about the sound of the your competitors arrow to judge distance was something I never considered

There’s a story of an old bull and a young bull on a hill looking down at a bunch of cows. The young bull says, “let’s run down and breed one”. The old bull says, “how about we walk down and breed them all”…. Slow wins the race. We shouldn’t be looking for quick results by hitting that release. Staying in that moment of squeezing slowly gives us satisfaction over and over.

Cool stuff! Would love to pick one up! Joel is teaching me more in a few episodes than I've learned my entire life of shooting bows. Good stuff here!!

I use a chappy boss invented by Randy Chappell. Back when thumb releases were invented. First Archery to shoot a perfect score in ASA 3D shooting. Anybody remember. I did the same thing till I met him and really trained. It's not easy to break bad habits.

That trigger finger release he was describing was call " The Answer "

  • @ВладимирПрименко-о5б
    @ВладимирПрименко-о5б ปีที่แล้ว

I have a release with a very large trigger stroke, so you can press half or 2/3 and cancel the shot by returning it back or continue the shot. It would be nice to hit the target at the same time, but as a rule it is a miss and the best result is a continuous pressing with acceleration towards the end.

The same concept should work with an index release!!! I would buy one is a minute.

I’m trying continual self-talk of “you can stop” to slow my release. That seems to help me. Maybe others may find it valuable.

When I am hunting and an animal is moving or getting into position I am not concentrating on talking my way through a shot I’m concentrating on the animal and getting the best shot So what he is doing is correct but you are training your brain to make it a natural reaction without talking your way through it The important thing to me is consistent form and anchor point You can make a perfect shot and an animal will jump the string There’s always a lot of variables I just have to have enough practice to be confident in the shot

So what part of the thumb should rest on the button?

    • @GrittyGearAndPodcast

On this release you settle the barrel between the tip of your thumb and the first knuckle.

I just keep applying pressure most of the time. But you can stop and start over as well-whatever works best for you.

I think there is too much focus on the release and the shot. Being that it’s being video taped and that’s what this is about. But when they are just in the shot and not thinking about the release and they are just burning a hole through the X ring then the release is perfect

I love watching these videos. It’s absolutely infuriating to watch people in conversations, ESPECIALLY students, continually interrupt their teachers. So many people need to learn to just shut up and listen.
