yeah i'm no longer on the fence after seeing this. these are the type of sounds I wanted to know I can get out of this thing before buying it. it's not just 'glassy' or pure 90s nostalgia this thing can be soft and lush and clearly has a ton of range.
Great patches. 6:40 sounds familiar, Apoptygma or Icon Of Coil or something along those lines. JD-08 sounds great, wonder if it can cop the Music For The Jilted Generation JD990 sounds.
Pretty desent video buddy. Love the melodies you play. One question there. Is the sound from 13:32 minute one of the factory preset? It seems like it is, as it shows preset D75 on the screen.
Almost all patches feature several layers but the bi-timbral mode hasn't been used in this demo. FX are JD-08 only. Also, many presets come from the Fauna sound pack: th-cam.com/video/690p8zoZjok/w-d-xo.html
How to connect a Keyboard to a JD-08 and at the same time connecting the PC DAW ? What keyboard is a good alternative for the K25M stand KB, so that i can make music with the keyboard itself too?
If you have docked it with the K25M, can you still use the MIDI controller via the MIDI connector on the back? If yes, will both k25m and midi controller be active at the same time?
I’m assuming that with the one midi in, I can’t sync the sequencer to my drum machine & use a midi keyboard at the same time? Can you even sync the JD-08’s sequencer like this, or is the midi in for alternative keyboard support only?
@@anonymous_friend I found online what’s called a MIDI merger box (2 in, 1 out) which might be the fix, but I haven’t purchased a JD-08 and tried it out myself yet
Kind of noticed on this video the nuances in the tone or timbre sound different than the same model on my jupiter XM, or my JD990 (not to say the JD990 is identical to the JD-800 in sound, I know its very close and maybe practically identical but never owned both at the same time to do a proper A/B. But in this video especially with the first sound that had an FM quality, I never this heard on the JD990 or my XM JD800 model. Could it be that this video and something in the processing or youtube conversion is changing some subtle underlying timbre characteristic(s) enough in a way that makes the final result sound like a different synth, close in the same spirit as the XM's JD800 model or the real JD800, which btw these later two I think sound nearly identical to each other. There's a lot of patches in this video I would not guess at first were coming from a real JD800 or the Roland DCM? modelling used for the JD800 plug in on my XM. There's something missing here on these sounds that supposedly are being generated from a JD-08. This boutique should be the same as the XM's model. I never questioned any of the tones on my XM JD800 model in this same way as my ear does now for the sound I hear in this video. It's not quite a JD800, and if I only had this one video to judge the JD-08 I wouldnt be interested in it.
Most presets - in fact all with the letter D plus number - come from the Fauna sound pack by Limbic Bits (link in description). The remaining are factory presets
In a world of vsts this is rather meh, limited and middle of the road sounding synth by today's standards, the fact it can't receive midi cc or import/ export individual sysex and JD800 patches turned out to be just another disappointment from Roland.
I don't know about that. A JD-800 has near limitless sound design capabilities, especially when you add effects. Not everyone is looking for the kind of modern, plasticy, soulless sound of 'cutting edge' VST's...especially those who are more into a hands on live experience.
But, unfortunately, this one isn't real analogue synth and all those sounds also processed via delays/reverb. Just a warn for beginners (who already ran to buy this digital synth) - you won't get the same sound without skills (prepare for many years of training)
well, to be fair - the original one wasn't analogue, either. So I don't get the point here. And if you're a beginner (or advanced) it doesn't matter if your synth is analog or not. You can get great / bad sounds out of each digital and analog.

i love no talking 😂😂❤❤❤
Ordered mine yesterday afternoon. SO excited.
Thank God! These are the sounds I've been wanting to hear from this synth. Thanks.
1:07 is heartbreaking beautiful
2:06 it's a feeling that you get from the... good life... :) great demo TY
Sounds just like the JD-800...cool!

Nice playing and impressive sound design!
Love the sounds!
Kevin Moore used a JD-800 and a Korg DW-8000 on Images and Words. I scored a working DW-8000. Now I need this to complete my Kevin Moore fanboy rig
If u work out the rec. setting so it just plays back. What u key in. Without a background beat. Please share.
This synth has a real "windows startup sounds" vibe.
😂
or PS2 startup sound lol
Considering windows has sucked since the 80s yeah you’re right
You guys say it like it's a Bad thing!
Are these presets? Sounds amazing

Thanks! It's from the "Fauna" Sound Pack: limbicbits.com/roland-jd-08-patches-for-ambient-and-techno-fauna-sound-pack/
@@Bonedo-Synthesizers Thank you. I think Ill get the unit and the soundpack only for this particular sound.
Great sounds demo, thanks. d48 is great!
Great sounds! Are these only 1 part? or are you using it in bi-timbral mode? All the FX are from the JD-08, right?

super demo!!!! thanks

sounds great.
Damn, almost every patch is awesome in this video. Rare for any synth tbh
How to connect a Keyboard to a JD-08 and at the same time connecting the PC DAW ? What keyboard is a good alternative for the K25M stand KB, so that i can make music with the keyboard itself too?
Just connect both to the PC via USB and select the keyboard as midi input
Can this connect directly to usb only midi controller?
If you have docked it with the K25M, can you still use the MIDI controller via the MIDI connector on the back?
If yes, will both k25m and midi controller be active at the same time?
Is we come one creaate on this synth?)
Ps thnx for a revue
Dang, i've been snoozing on this lil guy.
Hi! do you send the midi via USB or Midi cable?
MIDI Cable
That intro sounded like “Answer lies Within” By Dream Theater
Where are the drum sounds? Are there any?
I’m assuming that with the one midi in, I can’t sync the sequencer to my drum machine & use a midi keyboard at the same time? Can you even sync the JD-08’s sequencer like this, or is the midi in for alternative keyboard support only?
Did you figure it out?

@@SkullServant98 I ordered the JX-08 but after hearing this JD-08, Im ready for it also wow it sounds terrific !!
Is it the fauna pack ?
yes - most of the presets shown in this video are from that pack

Does it connect to most keyboards?
as long as they have a traditional MIDI Out it should work
what brand of midi cables are those I NEED THEM PLZZZZZ

Sind das Werks-Sounds oder aus einem anderen Soundset?
Die meisten Sounds sind aus dem „Fauna“ soundpack von Limbic Bits (s. Beschreibung)
it is original presets ???? thanks
